The application process for most programs is so convoluted that my friend and her son (both disabled due to an inherited autoimmune disease) was homeless for a year and a half and still doesn't have help, but heaven forbid we accidentally help someone who might not need it.

Those organizations are, deliberately or not, half-hearted placeholders for what society actually needs to do (which is to fight back against exploitation). No ill will to the people actually trying to help and just powerless to make a real difference, but value and money have become utterly disconnected so that we are building phallus rockets and mega yachts on money that can be pretty easily traced back to having come from someone who figured out how to game the system instead of for someone who has actually putting value back into society. At this point it's not about capitalism or socialism, it's a question of how we push back against cult fascism and neo feudalism. Removing regulations undermines free and fair competition and removing safety nets keeps people struggling to make ends meet instead of making real progress, while the lucky few have the rest arguing over whether we should punish the unloyal (or often enough just the unlucky) or reward the rigged lucky for "helping".

Not true, a lot of great workers get cut simply because they're at the top of the pay scale and their employer will find any excuse to replace them with someone just as good at a lower starting wage when cuts need to be made. Most places cap experience at 10 years for a new hire so two people with the same years and same clean records can have vastly different pay. When cuts need to be made who do you think they're going to let go first?

Actually, kids as young as 16 will be accepted straight away at a job like McDonald's, even though they have no previous work experience. My partner was 19 and applied to work at McDonald's and when they asked her age, she was instantly rejected, even though she has 3 certificates under her belt while the other 3 kids that were 17 and under got instantly hired, even though they had no qualifications. The younger you are, the less the company has to pay for you to work there. In the end, it's all about corporate greed and exploitation. Not to mention that another reason that people are replaceable is because of the overpopulation problem and over 20 people applying for the same job, so if you quit because of a toxic workplace, they'll just put another poor person in your place the moment you leave. I don't know how old you are, if you rely on your parents for financial support or if you were born late last century when the economy wasn't so messed up, but you really need to wake up.
