I never understand how people can get bored in their free time.

My sibling and I would be glued to our TV or check the local news stations’ websites on the days we thought that our school might be closed! Those were the days!

Uh, I'm going to be that guy and say, the friend is peeling the banana backward.... you peel from the top (little black nub) to the bottom (the stem part). When you peel it that way, all the nasty stringy bits generally come off without issue. Or, you know, just peel the dang thing however you like.
