I wish this wasn't true. I worked with a guy that put it to the test. He basically lowered his output to next to nothing (we are software engineers). Eventually he got board and started doing more work. He got promoted because of the "extra effort" he showed. Yet most of the department normally did twice his workload and got nothing.

My boss has assigned a permanent baby sitter because he walked in and my co-worker and I were talking when nothing was going on in late December. Usually he's on one of his 5 week vacations at that point. Angered him we were talking when nothing was going on.

My Yorkie always so happy to see me when I get home she pee's on the floor, best feeling there is!!
