I wish this wasn't true. I worked with a guy that put it to the test. He basically lowered his output to next to nothing (we are software engineers). Eventually he got board and started doing more work. He got promoted because of the "extra effort" he showed. Yet most of the department normally did twice his workload and got nothing.

I must be lucky. I have never worked anywhere that tried to make me feel guilty about taking my vacation. Either luck or they can see "oh no you better don't" on my face.

if you can't cope when staff take the time off they're entitled to, or someone is sick, then that's a management problem, not a staff problem. you're not managing your staffing levels right.

Or you hear that the manager who bullied you has had a mental breakdown - is it still schadenfreude if it's also karma?

My boss has assigned a permanent baby sitter because he walked in and my co-worker and I were talking when nothing was going on in late December. Usually he's on one of his 5 week vacations at that point. Angered him we were talking when nothing was going on.

My Yorkie always so happy to see me when I get home she pee's on the floor, best feeling there is!!

My coworkers could tell by the look on my face, whether or not to speak to me.

Had one b***h about not being paid enough (true),IN THE NEXT BREATH, he related how he blew Wednesday off to go to a show. "huh...crazy"
