Stunning Redhead Portraits By Maja Topčagić Capture The Spirit Of Summer

Redheads’ blazing, fiery locks always make them stand out in a crowd, and it is this element of their appearance that Maja Topčagić, a photographer in Bosnia-Herzegovina, focuses on in her beautiful redhead portraits. The vivid colors and bright flowers make the girls in Topčagić’s photos seem like mystical summer spirits.

Red hair is the rarest natural hair color in the world (1-2% of the human population has read hair), so it’s understandable why they can seem so striking to some of us. The genetic mutation that causes red hair also causes a host of other changes as well – redheads have a higher pain tolerance, are more difficult to anaesthetize, and are more susceptible to ultraviolet light.

Topčagić’s redhead portraits are eye-catching, but she doesn’t just take photos of redheads – she is an accomplished beauty photographer who has photos of all sorts on her 500px account. Check out the rest of her work below!

There is a beast with heart of cold stone that dashes like lightning, shreds flesh from bone. // Bewitched by this beast, I fell to my knees. My mouth babbled madness and mumbled soft pleas. // I stared down the ravenous, gnashing dark maw of a cute cuddly kitten with yarn in its paw

What stunning women! Love, love, love the freckles! So glad the photographer let the women show their true beauty without covering the freckles with makeup or Photoshopping them into oblivion! Beautiful photographs!

I ever knew redheads were more resistant to anesthesia. That explains what happened many years ago when I had to have an impacted wisdom tooth removed. When they finally got me under, did the procedure and I regained consciousness, they told me that I started trying to slug the dentist's crew, and that it took four people to hold me down and get me fully "under" to do the procedure.

So interesting---with all the natural settings in the photos, to have all that unnatural make-up on the models.

It would be better WITHOUT make-up or less make-up. In other words, a forest beauty ;-)

Beautiful , but one problem I do have is that her eyelashes are so matted with makeup she looks as though she has very little eyelash.. The freckles improve the shots.

Amazing. All my biological siblings and I were redheads (not quite as dark as in these photos) and none of us had the freckles usually associated with redheads.

Redheads have a LOWER pain tolerance, not higher. That's why more anesthesia is required.

No they have a high tolerance to the pain meds. They have a much higher tolerance for pain. More anesthesia is required because of the tolerance of the meds. I always say it because whiskey has changed our genetic make up. lol
