This Editorial Team Ditches Zoom And Instead Starts Using Red Dead Redemption For Meetings, Here’s How It Goes For Them
Many people have found themselves working from home in the current crisis and some of them are lucky to have such an opportunity as there are millions who simply lost their jobs. However, working remotely has brought some new problems that require solutions and, luckily, the majority found them quickly. Apps like Zoom, Skype, Discord, and more saw a rise in new users after millions of people had to organize team meetings online.
While some chose the more common applications for such purposes, others, however, decided that they wanted to go for something completely different. Video games. Yup, you read that right.
Author and artist Viviane Schwarz recently took to Twitter to share her experiences on the video game Red Dead Redemption, where she organized her team’s meetings. And reading her tweets definitely gives you a good idea of how humorous it is.
Bored Panda reached out to Viviane for additional comment and she provided some new info. “I am a freelance artist specializing in interactive projects,” she introduced herself. When asked why they chose Red Dead Redemption as their place for online meetings, the woman revealed that it was mostly because of fun. “We got very tired of Zoom and missed having meetings and going out,” she explained.

Turns out, using the popular online game didn’t come without its challenges. “It takes about an hour to set up and unlock the free play mode,” Viviane told us. “The servers seem to go down quite a lot when logging on,” she added. Still, according to Schwarz, this option was better than Zoom. “It only makes sense if everyone has a compatible console or PC,” she added to the list of disadvantages. “It is an open world game, so anyone can interrupt your meeting—however, they can’t overhear your voice chat,” Viviane pointed out.

“It would make a lot more sense to meet in a cross platform game that does not have a tutorial—Minecraft is popular,” Schwarz suggested. She also pointed out that people taking their business meetings to Minecraft might be a more popular option (however, in her opinion, less funny).
As for responses? They’ve been so overwhelming Schwarz had to mute the thread altogether. “It’s been nice to chat with people about their experiences of having meetings in games, and seeing people discover that they could at least hang out with their friends and go for walks together that way,” she concluded.

Share on FacebookWish I could put college classes on Red Dead Redemption... although I would probably strangle my professors if I got too bored!
da até pra ler uns trechos de livros no meio do jogo. por exemplo.. no acampamento da mansão abandonada encontrei um do escritor Henry Miller... depois mais tarde encontrei o proprio Henry Miller.. hehehe
