Paintings That Look Like Photographs: 45 Portraits By A Brazilian Artist
Interview With ArtistNope! These are not photographs! I was just as surprised to find out that these are actually incredibly realistic oil paintings done by 40-year-old Brazilian artist Fabiano Millani.
Millani started his career in 1997 when he took a course in artistic drawings and has been perfecting his portrayal of realism ever since. In 2009, the artist built his own studio, where he paints full time while also teaching students.
As you can see in the pictures, Fabiano’s work is distinguished by its precision and richness of detail.

The artist told Bored Panda about how much he enjoys painting a person’s skin texture and capturing it down to the pores. He also said: “I’m currently using caramel on the skin, it increases the contrast and adds a dazzling look. I could change my mind in the future and it could be something else.”
Talking about his creative process, Fabiano explained: “I select the model and take the photos first. I try to direct the photo to capture the best of each model, their brightness and essence. Then I use said photo as a reference for the painting. I'm always correcting and trying to improve the image, molding the painting to make it as good and pleasant as possible. However, after finishing, I always think it could still be better.”
When asked about hidden meaning behind his paintings, Millani admitted that some of his paintings have a more interesting backstory: “For example, in one of my paintings I wanted to pay tribute to a great friend of mine who committed suicide. I tried to put everything into the painting: his passage through life and the way he died.”
The talented painter says he is inspired by everything he sees. It usually takes him about 15 days to finish a painting. “My biggest goal is to be able to continue painting forever. Trying to improve over time,” says Fabiano.
Lol, I thought the same thing! What is with what looks like honey on most of their faces?
