Artist Reimagines 54 Disney Characters As Real People, And Men Will Be Glad Prince Adam Doesn’t Really Exist
28-year-old Finnish artist Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen has grown up with Disney cartoons, and the animated characters have become his inexhaustible source of inspiration. During the last couple of years, Jirka has been creating their portraits, and the images look incredibly realistic.
"Back in 2011 I just randomly thought I'd challenge myself and have a little fun in Photoshop, and explore what the famous character of Ursula from the Little Mermaid could look like in real life," Jirka told Bored Panda. "Since I grew up with a lot of these cartoon characters, the sense of nostalgia made it such a fascinating and a fun personal project."
"I've been inspired by the idea of re-envisioning these characters and Disney princesses that we all know and love, in a way I would imagine them to look like if they were 'more real,' while still staying somewhat true to their original <...> designs."
The artist said he often has a pretty clear idea of what a particular character should look like in real life in his mind but creating their portrait can become a process of trial and error. "As all of [them] do not particularly have extremely distinct facial features, it is often more about getting a sense of their personality across." Moana From Moana
Damn, this is good. She looks both real and unmistakeably like the Moana from the cartoon o:
Belle From Beauty And The Beast
Speaking as a lesbian if she really does exist, stay out of my way
Load More Replies...Very pretty picture but, unlike many of the other pics on this list, this doesn't really look anything like belle from the animated movie (nor does it look much like Emma Watson).
Captain Li Shang From Mulan
Oooh. Now THAT'S a lot sexier than your average Disney prince!
Prince Eric From The Little Mermaid
Princess Anna From Frozen
I think she looks like Alexis Bledel from when she was in Gilmore Girls
i wanna have adouter like her.she´s preety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing job capturing the character while still keeping her look like a real person <3
Nakoma From Pocahontas
Eugene Fitzherbert / Flynn Rider From Tangled
I wish he was looking at us instead of away. I wanna see those eyes.
Princess Jasmine From Aladdin
Why are you comparing that hoe with this beautiful artwork?
Load More Replies...I haven't fantasized about a Disney character since I was a kid..... he said untruthfully...
Cruella De Vil From 101 Dalmatians
Her smile and eyes remind me of Karen Allen from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Karen_Alle...bcf0d6.jpg
I love the slightly discoloured teeth (from all the smoking, I’m sure) he’s really thought about these!
“And that, kids, is why you get dogs from shelters and don’t smoke!!”
Kocoum From Pocahontas
I dont see it,I met Graham Greene yrs ago and this lad is way better looking than Graham.
Load More Replies...Ariel From The Little Mermaid
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so pretty!
Did anyone else question if they were losing their mind when her eyes moved 😂
Jane From Tarzan
She looks like Natalie Dormer, the one who plays margeary tyrell on game of thrones.
Esmeralda From The Hunchback On Notre Dame
I always imagined either Salma Hayek or Sofia Vergara for Esmeralda. They seem like they would be able to portray her really well.
Next time I get a hair blow out, this is the picture I need to bring. Perfect blow out!
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pretty
She looks white, her skin needs to be darker, eyes lighter, and her hair isn’t black not brown..
Ursula's Alter Ego Vanessa From The Little Mermaid
I always preferred Vanessa over Ariel. I used to feel like a bad person for it. LOL.
Thomas From Pocahontas
Reminds me of Leonardo DiCap when he was younger. Or if kJ spa and Leo had a baby
Tinkerbell From Peter Pan
Queen Elsa From Frozen
Definitely thinking of stirring up some trouble! Doesn't resemble the movie Elsa in expression though!
Tiana From Princess And The Frog
Brandy for sure. I always thought the cartoon version looked like her in Moesha. Simply gorgeous.
Hades From Hercules
It kinda reminds me of Sacha Baron Cohen. I could see him playing the role.
Pocahontas From Pocahontas
Prince Phillip Fom Sleeping Beauty
Ok now that looks like someone who would be on a cheese Disney channel show am I right
Kristoff From Elsa The Snow Queen
"Elsa the Snow Queen" Different titles in different countries, I assume. Over here, it's 'Frozen'.
The original story that Frozen is based off is called Snow Queen, however it is a lot darker than Frozen ever dreamed of being
Load More Replies...Kristoff is my fave, hands down! He even looks kinda shy. So perfect. Love love love!
He looks like a cross between Steve Irwin and Heath Ledger...R.I.P. both of them
Ursula From The Little Mermaid
Ursula was totally based on Divine. Disney said so.
Load More Replies...Ursula was actually based upon the late drag queen Divine. If you look him up, the resemblance is uncanny.
Load More Replies...John Smith From Pocahontas
Also loks a lot like Jason Lewis in his early SATC days
Load More Replies...wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prince Naveen From The Princess And The Frog
Mother Gothel From Tangled
It's like some of these drawings capture the essence of the character better than the original character (image) itself.
Prince Adam / Beast From Beauty And The Beast
Forgive my ignorance, but there was only one Prince Adam when i was growing up, and that was He-Man!
I have the power! Yes! Of course I saw "Beauty and the Beast" when I was a child, but till today I had no idea what was the prince's name. For me it was simply the Prince from "Beauty and the Beast".
Load More Replies...OMFG he is HOT!!! If I saw him in person, my clothes would probably fall off or something.
Ah yes, I showed this to many of my male friends and they all believe that they are much better in this world knowing this is not a real man.
Kinda looks like Brendan Fraser from George of the Jungle back in the day.
Snow White From Snow White
Mulan Fom Mulan
Princess Jasmine From Aladdin
The resemblance with this brazilian actress amazes me... marina-mos...358808.png
Real face, no real body though. At least I 've never seen a bandeau fitting like that in real life. I wish...
That outfit is from the part of the movie where jafar captures her and makes her wear it
Load More Replies...Lady Tremaine From Cinderella
Woah, this is just so spot on. I'm loving it. Disney princesses are pretty but I love to see some age and personality in character's faces!
Looks like my first grade teacher... and has the same expression as some of my professors.
Tarzan From Tarzan
The chin seems a bit too pointed for reality but I like the aquiline nose
Prince Charming From Cinderella
Alice From Alice In Wonderland
She looks older than I thought. Isn't she seven years old in this story?
7 and a half (as she said it in the sequel)
Load More Replies...Hercules From Hercules
I dunno - I'm thinking he's looking over to the Prince before he became the Beast guy ...
Rapunzel From Tangled
My first thought was Amanda Seyfried.
Load More Replies...Cinderella From Cinderella
Am I the only one who thinks that she looks like a younger version of Taylor Swift?
Captain Hook From Peter Pan
Great! Now I have the image of Captain Hook in a Mankini stuck in my mind... not in the slightest bit pleasant (funny though)
Load More Replies...Um... you know this is about the cartoon versions right?
Load More Replies...Merida From Brave
I think it's the angle- her left arm is somewhat thrown back and her right is bent at the elbow. Makes it look that way. Note how her torso is turned a bit-
Load More Replies...I went to school with a Scottish girl who had exactly that hair - right down to the exact colour. It drove her bananas.
Load More Replies...I can only imagine the hard work the artist had to put on the hair! wow
Aladdin From Aladdin
He's got a Jake Gyllenhaal thing going with his face. Not complaining.
Think the Flynn from rapunzel looks more like avan
Load More Replies...Jafar From Aladdin
Gotta sprinkle in a little Prince and you've got it
Load More Replies...The cartoon Jafar's look was based on another villain named Jafar in an 1940 Hollywood movie called The Thief of Baghdad (basically Aladdin 1.0). That version of Jafar was played by a German actor and badass m**o named Conrad Veidt. Look him up. He was pretty amazing for his time. He also played the German officer who keeps looking for resistance fighters at Rick's Cafe in Casablanca. The Joker's face is based off of another part he played in a 1932 picture called The Man Who Laughs, and goths today owe their look to his from the silent movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Veidt's influence on the people who create pop culture today is pretty deep.
Megara From Hercules
'I'm a damsel, I'm in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day!'
Peter Pan From Peter Pan
Well you'll know why he's so creepy if you watch Once Upon A Time
Load More Replies...Kind of weird how this looks more like Bobby Driscoll than Bobby Driscoll does.
Judge Claude Frollo From The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
This reminds me of a principal I once had in elementary school.
Oh dear, it must have been terrifying whenever you were called into his office. XD!
Load More Replies...Princess Aurora From Sleeping Beauty
Captain Phoebus From The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Typical young Robert De Niro(with blonde hair). He even has the birthmark like on his cheek like De Niro
Prince Hans From Frozen
Gaston From Beauty And The Beast
"No one's sick as Gaston! / Such a prick as Gaston! / No one's even as much of a *D**K* as Gaston!"
Load More Replies...When you didn't hear someone, so you will just laugh and hope it was not a question.
Got passed up to play Jethro Bodine in the Beverly Hillbilly's reboot.
You can tell the exact moment of the film that he captured. I can hear Gaston's voice sneering about girls getting ideas and thinking. I love this one!!!
Evil Queen From Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
hair problems that she needs to wrap her head with that scuba suit
Load More Replies...Well... No. Cause she is supposed to be the second most beautiful woman in the kingdom.
and THAT'S why you gotta be careful choosing the person who will tattoo your eyebrows!
Back in the day, women used to draw their eyebrows like that. My grandma, born one year after Snow White was released, does it. (:
Load More Replies...she doesnt even look like shes gonna fit in the top 1000 most beautiful people
You probably have to be a Finn to recognize the actual inspiration for this character :)
Wendy From Peter Pan
Are those lights/reflections of the windows on the wall behind her? Really well done
The Prince From Snow White
Maleficent From The Sleeping Beauty
These are based on the cartoon versions. Not the live action ones.
Load More Replies...Well, the cartoon Ursula was based on a drag queen named "Divine", so why not? I suspect a LOT of Disney villains are based on drag queens. If you doubt this, watch "The Rescuers".
Load More Replies...Belle From Beauty And The Beast
I'm pretty sure the first belle was based on the live action, and the second was based on the cartoon version, could be wrong though.
Load More Replies...I don’t get why people don’t like this one? It looks JUST like the Disney cartoon Belle! It’s incredible. I’m surprised it’s not at the top! She’s GORGEOUS! WOW!
Disney's Belle was a sweetheart. She's all smiling and kind and warm. This version she looks like a more stuck up version of Lacey Chabert from Mean Girls. Looks like Belle, but misses her personality and spirit by 4 football fields.
Ursula From The Little Mermaid
The proportions on Ursula and a couple others are still way too 'cartooney' to be real people.

Not all Disney princess posts are c**p just because there's too much of them. These are actually quite realistic (can't say that about many of those that claim to be...) but still the resemblance is just stunning.
Too much Disney re-imagined/coughed back up - c**p here, but this artist is exceptional. Use your talent for good, kind sir!
these are amazing. so lifelike, and yet so identical to their animated version. astounding!
I've always said I hate all the disney remakes, but these are truly excellent.
