It has been 17 years since the devastating 9/11 attacks. Coverage of the American Airlines flight 11 tragedy during which nearly 3,000 perished was the main priority that day for most Western news agencies (the scenes of the twin towers collapsing were witnessed by an estimated two billion people - a third of the human race). Together with amateur records, this has produced such an incredible amount of 9/11 photos, some of it is rarely seen even today.

Bored Panda has collected some of the least seen 9/11 stories from across the internet. From street shots of the twin towers attack to satellite images of New York City, these historical photos are revealing new angles of the horrific day that changed the world forever. For more similar September 11 shots, check out this powerful book by David Friend.

This does not surprise me at all. When I was in graduate school I worked the midnight shift at UPS, in Knoxville. Everything was 100% about getting the packages shipped and delivered. Management never slowed down. Everyone worked non stop from the moment they clocked in until they clocked out. In other words, you were paid well, but earned every penny made. Its the most 'workaholic' company in the world, I kid you not.

American Airlines Flight 11 (visible in the upper right-hand corner of the photo) approaches the north tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This largely unknown triptych (the subsequent images follow), shot from a Brooklyn window, was part of an ongoing Internet art exhibition that displayed updated panoramas of downtown Manhattan every four seconds. A time code can be seen in the lower right-hand corner of each frame.

One of the scariest accounts I've read on 9/11 is that of a woman who worked nearby and lived not-so-nearby. In her mind, the most horrifying was the smell of burnt debris and people that engulfed te city in the following days. I can see why now.

why I can't find anything to comment on this pic, is it because this picture is such a contrast of what is happening. One side is disaster, loss of innocent lives, and one side there is a new life booming and making its way into such unpredictable world. what thoughts must be going inside that mother's mind, only a mother would know.

This photo affects me the most. I had to ask myself why this one has such an impact on my soul and I think it is just because of the sheer amount of energy captured at this moment. It encapsulates the force of the crumbling building but moreover, the crumbling of the safety & complacency we felt in this country up to that day but feel no more.

That seriously looks like a crumbling building to you? Because I'm pretty sure when a building crumbles everything falls straight down, not blown outwards. Also, 110 story building that crumbles would leave at least 30 to 50 stories of crumbled building. Not 3 stories of pulverized oxygen smothering dust. I say oxygen smothering dust because fire needs oxygen to live. And yet 500,000 tons of oxygen smothering dust couldn't extinguish those fires. Fires that burned for 3 months. I look at that picture and think, how in the heck did roof fires survive all that?! Can a roof fire even collapse a building? I'm more shocked that people haven't even thought about those things.

As a native New Yorker, visitors always wanted to be taken to the WTC. I have always all my life, been afraid of heights. But the three times that I took visitors to WTC, I would always stand near a shop or a wall where the windows were not visible to me. Which was difficult, because the windows were the walls. I was always terrified. When it was televised, I was absolutely torn apart. Those thousands of people, with no way to escape. I am still not over it.

Wow...look how gravity pushes all the debris outwards. Body parts were found as far as 1400 feet away (that's 4 football fields). Imagine a gravitational collapse hurling objects the length of 4 football fields. I guess gravity is what caused 100s of cars up to 7 blocks away to spontaneously combust too. Who knew falling buildings could start car fires? : /

You're right that were no hijackings. And Bin Laden had nothing to do with it. But you're wrong about the CGI. Use your brain. Eyewitnesses could not have seen CGI in real life. And all the people who caught the planes on home video cameras did not CGI the planes in. The 2 planes were military drones.

I would like to know how the authorities knew the exact moment that WT-7 was going to collapse, as one can see the police on the ground telling folks in the area to leave right away because "this building is about to blow up" and then after a loud explosion, WT-7 in-fact collapses in on itself. I would like to know how they made such an accurate prediction since entire buildings collapsing due to fires (before this day) had not happened.

How could anyone look at that picture and still use the word collapse? I cringe whenever someone uses the word collapse to describe roof fire damage. lol I'm sorry. I just find it odd that people actually think roof fires can collapse buildings. Body parts were found 1400 feet (that's 4 football fields) away. I'm not the smartest man on Earth but I'm pretty sure gravitational collapses do not hurl objects outwards the length of 4 football fields. Only one thing has that kind of energy.

Because the people at the White House already know who did it & want to protect them. Everyone that's seen the video of the dancing Israeli's admitting to it on Israeli tv know who did it too. No one needs a documentary when the culprits dance & cheer in the open, them admit to it on television. Just saying. I'd of thought everyone knew about that by now. Or at least know about the Israeli art students who were allowed to live on the 91st floor for months, wiring the place while pretending to do an art project. They even took photos & made a book out of it.. they called themselves the E-Team. As in Explosives Team. AB_Gelatin...20bd84.jpg AB_Gelatin_The-B-thing_Interior-1-5d54f9d20bd84.jpg
