I never tolerated this the-janitor-is-gross attitude and wound up in the principal's office a few times for smacking the kids who made these comments.

My elementary school janitor, Virgil, was awesome. I got to know him very well because I was ALWAYS leaving some book, homework, artucle of clothing, project or instrument in school and having to go back in after hours. He'd have to walk me in, unlock the classroom, and wait while I retrieved it. He had the patience of a saint and the kindness of everyone's favorite grandpa.

I live in a ski town and my circle of friends has always worked in the ski industry "because it's cool as hell!". Now we're middle aged and broke af. One buddy started as a janitor at the local school and now he makes bank and has free time in the summer. Changing our attitudes for sure!

I guess I'm a weirdo because from school to the places I've worked I've always liked and preferred to hang out with them then my classmates and co-workers. They have the coolest stories and if you really want to hear the best gossip then they were the best to go to. They see and hear EVERYTHING, especially since most people have a tendency of ignoring them whenever they are around. The biggest thing that I always loved though was because I could be myself around them and not worry about censoring myself. I'm not big on work politics, in fact I actually hate it and try to avoid being involved as much as possible. So I didn't have to worry about be on guard around those guys like with my fellow co-workers.

Fair enough.

But then you don't wanna tell them because of the satisfaction when they realise their *mistake*
