If you enjoy absurdity, you are going to love Daniel's Danby Draws comics!

Since the pandemic, which is when Daniel Murrell started sharing his comics with a wider audience, his Instagram has already generated over 17K followers, and rightfully so. Danby Draws will always get you by surprise with unique and unexpected storylines and endings, always keeping it fresh and exciting.

Bored Panda reached out to Daniel to catch up with the artist and his perspectives on his artwork today. He shared what message he hopes people take away from his artwork: "The main goal of Danby Draws Comics is to make beautiful comics that make people happy. Lately, I can get a little sassy with my punchlines, but generally, I want to focus on making comics for everybody to enjoy. I feel like I’ve succeeded if I create something that surprises me and takes my readers along for the same ride."

So without further ado, we invite you to giggle over these comics and read the rest of the interview with Daniel below.

The last time we got in touch with the artist was in 2021 when Daniel’s first comic post was published. Since then, we wanted to know if there were any changes in his creative process or anything in particular.

Daniel shared: “Lately I feel like I’ve become better attuned to what kind of comics are going to get a good reaction, but I can still miss sometimes. Also, you get a lot more ideas that fall to the wayside because they don’t quite feel good enough. Occasionally, I’ll keep an idea around for a few months until I find the right way to make it work.”

He continued: “Artistically, I have been trying to use more vivid colors so the comics stand out more. I’m hoping that this develops into a recognizable style that people will hopefully pick up on. Also, it’s more fun to be looser with color and less strict about getting everything looking realistic.”

Every artist goes through some sort of challenge, whether it’s a creative block, consistency, or anything in between. Daniel shared what he has been dealing with: “The hardest challenge for me is getting myself to post on social media consistently. I’m pretty good at maintaining my schedule for my website, but I still get nervous about posting my work on social media even though I’ve done it hundreds of times. Even though I don’t receive many negative comments, the stress about how well they’ll be received is still something I grapple with.”

“I often have to remind myself that I do make good stuff that people enjoy seeing, and my work is worth sharing, And even if I take a break from social media here and there, that’s okay too.”

Among the comics Daniel created thus far, we asked whether he has a favorite one.

“My favorite comic is likely 'A Perfect Shot' which chronicles a light particle as it travels to Earth from a distant star. That comic exemplifies the kind of visual poetry you can get from a handful of panels while still landing with a satisfying level of wordplay.

That comic is probably my first to get a large reaction in many places on social media, and I’ll always be grateful for everybody sharing their thoughts about the comic and showing their support.”

Lastly, looking ahead, we asked Daniel about exciting plans or projects that his fans and followers can anticipate from him in the future.“Right now, I’m looking into making longer comics, and I’m hoping to find the time to make that happen. There are a lot of great stories you can tell if you give yourself more panels to work with, but it can also be pretty daunting,” shared Daniel.

My reaction when I realized how old "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi was. I was singing that early in high school! *cries in youthful days gone by*
