Did you know that ancient civilizations, like the Egyptians and Polynesians, used tattoos to symbolize important events and beliefs? Actually, the word "tattoo" itself comes from the Polynesian word "tatau," which means "to mark something." Interestingly, different cultures have their own tattoo traditions and meanings. For example, in Japan, tattoos were used to identify criminals in the past.

Not all tattoos are serious or meaningful. Some people get tattoos just for fun or to be silly. They might have funny pictures, strange quotes, or even mistakes! It's like a game of "What were they thinking?" that makes us giggle.

Came here to say the same thing. People get weird stuff, but hey...you do you. I'm just happy to see people going to actual artists and not Billybob's garage.

I don’t think “shaming” really comes into it, or ought to. Surely most of these people got these tattoos to please themselves, not because they thought they’d be popular generally with others? I also don’t think it’s overly-shaming or somehow unfair to observe that a person who counts on being amused by a one-liner from a sitcom or a novelty t-shirt or something for the rest of their life, and wants to look at it daily on their body, probably doesn’t have much imagination, or see themselves as having a lot of capacity for intellectual growth, or somehow believes culture will remain static. Those are the worst tattoos here. Unless the people who got them are planning to have laser removal, they’re basically counting on themselves to never change, or daring themselves not to. Is it overly “negative” to observe that some people don’t have very mature views of themselves and the world around them?
Load More Replies...None of these come ANYWHERE CLOSE to the worst tattoo I've ever seen. Please trust me when I say that I am doing you a favor by not telling what it depicted, or where it was placed. There is not enough Unsee Juice in the world.
There are some well done tattoos here. People can get whatever they want tattooed on them. If it makes them happy then that's all that matters. Unless the tattoos are blatantly offensive there is no issue. I have some absolutely ridiculous tattoos and I am incredibly happy with them. You don't like it? Good for you 👍
I don’t think anyone is denying that people have the personal agency to get tattoos of whatever they want.

I recently saw a picture of someone who got a tattoo based on a book I’ve read recently. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the book and I might even get a quote from it tattooed if I was old enough, but this person got fanart tattooed which… I just couldn’t imagine wanting that on my body for the rest of my life.
