I am a pet photographer who volunteers with shelters and rescues to help animals get adopted. Last week I photographed some of the pugs at Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles, an amazing non-profit with the goal of saving "all abandoned, unwanted, and neglected pugs in Southern California and find[ing] forever homes for them." I gave the pugs whipped cream so they would stick their tongues out and make funny faces. I find that usually helps animals in getting adopted and the dogs really enjoy it as well. Many of the dogs are seniors or have special needs, making them all the more magical, and they are available for foster or adoption here.
