18-Year-Old High School Graduate Wears Her Prom Dress To A Tourist Spot, Gets An Impromptu Photoshoot
“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” someone once said. And even though it’s not always as easy as this saying makes it sound, we can always try our hardest to make the best of an unfortunate situation. In my opinion, this story is the perfect example of that.
Jasmine Dauphine is an 18-year-old girl from Washington, DC who graduated high school this past June. Unfortunately, her prom dance had to be cancelled because of the whole coronavirus situation. Despite that, Jasmine found the perfect way to commemorate the occasion.

Jasmine had been looking forward to her prom for a really long time. In fact, she started brainstorming her outfit back in the middle of her junior year. Because of that, when the dance got cancelled, the girl was pretty disappointed.

And even though the prom wasn’t going to happen, Jasmine decided to dress up and take some photos of the look she’d been working on all this time.
“I love art, so that’s really why I wanted my prom pictures to look like a piece of art, and when my prom was cancelled, I completely understand why and wasn’t upset at that, but I was disappointed because I had been planning for prom for such a long time,” the girl explained to Bored Panda.

“My dress was inspired by Zendaya’s 2017 Met Gala look and SZA’s 2018 Met Gala look. I loved them so much,” she told us. “That’s how I came up with the headpiece and the orange dress with my natural hair fully out. I found this dress on Pinterest when I was looking for something to replicate the look and that’s how I found a company called Lunss, which made the dress perfectly how I wanted it.”

Jasmine decided to take her sister along and pose in front of the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. And right when the girls were about to leave, a wedding photographer, Sara Isabella Ortiz, noticed Jasmine and asked to take her picture. Apparently, the woman was absolutely mesmerized by Jasmine’s dress.

“I picked this location because I wanted something classy and artistic to look at and with the orange dress, I knew I would be able to pop how I wanted to,” Jasmine told us.
