That is very generalized statement, Renee, there are good people who work tirelessly to save our planet, who fight against cruelty to innocent creatures, although just relatively few, because "good" people will not join them, they only complain about poor condition of their own life. What made me angry lately was the following utterly wrong believe: "we (humans) have to respect each other and live in peace, only then our compassion can be extended to animals." .... so what they are saying is that animals must suffer because humans cannot co-exist in peace??? This an abhorrent notion!! Just the opposite is true!!! Humans are incapable, unable to rule themselves in any remotely just manner and co-exist in peace while denying peace and existence to all other sentient beings which inhabit our planet - in fact, they were here first. Human rights and justice did not and will not happen without animal rights, their rights to be treated humanely and be happy, just like we want for ourselves.

...what will we do for those who are still alive.....not for long though? Every single person on this planet can do a lot to save our planet and ALL life it supports: start with yourselves, change your life style, support the REPUTABLE environmental and animal protection organizations, do something, please.

Thank you AzKhaleesi, but we cannot forget that farm animals are sentient beings as well, they suffer immensely in factory farms and die in unconscionable agony at the slaughter houses because of human hideous insatiable appetite for meat, dairy, and eggs. Male chicks are ground - ALIVE to a pink slime, so humans could eat tons of eggs! Cows are artificially impregnated every year and their calves are taken away from them even though their cries of anguish are unmistakable; their babies are put in small crates, so small that they cannot turn around and stretch their legs, then they are heinously murdered.... millions of them!!! No other creature in nature drinks mother's milk after weaning, let alone the milk of another species, only humans are capable of such perversion!! Not even destroying their own health will stop them: the chronic, painful inflammations and diseases: arthritis, diabetes, kidney failer, heart diseases - clogged arteries, Alzhemier's, and various cancers.

Stupid? They knew exactly what they were doing (read the introductory story). Humans take more and more land from wilderness, they are multiplying in incredibly fast pace, and raise billions upon the billions of domesticated animals to be murdered to satisfy human insatiable appetite for meat, dairy, and eggs. This takes lot of land, many atrocities, lot of destruction to happen.
