My Colleague Brought A Pregnant Stray Cat Into Our Office, Now The Family Of Nine Has Their Own Meeting Room
Yvonne was on the way to work when she met a heavily pregnant stray cat. The cat was friendly and sat outside the office building meowing at people who walked in. She was thin and looked very young, and immediately rubbed her face on anyone who gave her attention. Luckily, our office Holmes&Marchant Shanghai had a bunch of cat ladies ready to give the pregnant mama some TLC to get her ready for her delivery date.
The pregnant kitty was meowing for attention. “It’s like she was asking for help for her babies and herself,” Yvonne said
We took her to our office and called her Boba because she was so round!
We placed her in a spare meeting room, where we prepared her a litter box, cushy bedding, and all the food (dry, canned tuna, fresh fish, milk) she could want
Boba in our office, waiting to deliver her babies. She was very friendly to everyone and seemed content that she had a safe place to give birth
There was a storm one night. When we came to work the next day, we found D-Day had arrived! Boba gave birth to eight kittens
Newborn kittens—just a few hours old
Boba was exhausted but fed and cleaned her babies: four boys and four girls!
For a young mom, Boba was so responsible and amazing!
The babies were all small and we couldn’t tell them apart at first
There were two gingers, one calico, and five tabbies
A cuddle pile of kittens
Here they are taking their afternoon nap, not knowing they had an army of cat ladies watching over them
This is 奶盖 or Milk Topping! She was one of the roundest and drank the most milk. Also, the one who posed the best for cameras
The kitties soon discovered their tiny paws… this is 珍珠 or Pearl
…and tried stretching!
After two weeks, one by one, they slowly opened their eyes! This is 去冰 (No Ice), one of the smallest in the litter but also one of the sweetest
This is 仙草 or Grass Jelly, the absolute biggest of the bunch!
Here are Pudding and Milk Topping, the two gingers
This is Oolong, the tabby/tuxedo
Milk Topping showing off her round bum
The full gang! At three weeks old, everyone had their eyes open and were so soft and round
Boba’s babies looking like they’re about to drop an album
At three weeks, they started to eat on their own
Even though they were growing, they still loved cuddle time with mama
At four weeks, they learned to use the litter box!
They loved lying on their fuzzy bedding
At one month old, the kitties still loved to cuddle with each other
Some of them getting quite sassy, meet 黑糖 or Black Sugar!
This is 燕麦 or Oat, one of the energetic and silly ones
Eight babies all cuddly
When the kitties hit one month, we moved them to a bigger meeting room so they could all move freely
One big family! Our officemates come to this room to visit the kitties or try to get some work done, no matter how impossible it is!
Boba still being such a good mom. We are going to spay Boba and find great adopters for all the little ones. We hope someone adopts Boba together with one of her babies. For now, they are still enjoying their new little family, and everyone in the office is so lucky!

Splendid PR for the company who allowed them to do this, I hope someone takes notice and rewards them suitably!
Boba probably feels she's the lucky one, finding such kind ladies to take care of her babies. You did a wonderful thing, bless you.
Sometimes heroes wear... (backspace, backspace, backspace) are basically people.
Thank you for rescuing Boba and allowing her to have her babies in a safe environment. I hope that they all find their forever homes. They are all so cute. What a great way to start my morning!
The babies are getting a great start by having so many people socialize them. They'll find good homes because of that. "I never met a hand that didn't pet me."

We joke that we're basically a cat hotel, with twice a day housekeeping and all day buffet

What wonderful women you all are! And what an amazing workplace - I would love to work there and have such an awesome team to care over animals so much! Amazing! May you all be blessed!
Did the company get to make a decision, or was it made for them?
Load More Replies...I love watching animals take care of their young, shes such a good mama you can tell...I hope they all find good homes and never know what neglect is.
We are all very much attached by now so we are going to make sure each one goes to an excellent responsible home

I love stories like this of stray cat moms who are able to find a safe place to raise their babies and a future that's not on the street.
Too much tabby cuteness.... Is there such a thing? No! There is no such thing. Boba is the bestest mom and these kittens are all just too cute!
Yeah, no such thing as "too much tabby cuteness."
Load More Replies...That’s great and all, amazing truly but I hope they invested together for the mama and babies to go to the vet for check-ups, vaccines and neutering the mama. That would be the responsible thing to do as well as seek home for the babies after 15 weeks.
Thats exactly what we are doing now note last paragraph of article :). Kitties only five weeks old now so they are not going to their adopters yet we plan to wait until at least week 8-9. We always neuter or spay our rescues and make sure they are vaccinated, either by us or by the adopter.

A LOT of our colleagues are already queuing to adopt~ so far Grass Jelly, No Ice, Oat, Pudding have all waiting adopters. (We want them to hit two months before we separate them from Boba)

This is wonderful! It's so heartening to see human beings caring for animals in need.
Nothing like caring for a pregnant animal in need. I've experienced the joy many times.
They are great for attendance but bad for productivity. People must be excited to get to work to play with them lol
Loss of productivity is okay when our boss is also in there playing with them lol

EIGHT babies! My goodness 🥰 they are all so very precious. Thank you for helping mama in her time of need. Ans allowing her to give birth in a safe and loving environment ❤
Eight kittens, who all survived, that's an acheivement! I'd be going to work early just for cuddles and playing
That’s so kind of you to help all the kitties! What a difference you must have made in their lives! (Pearl, the calico is my favorite!)
que hermosas personas, cuidar a una gatita embarazada y darle amor eso habla bien de ellos...saludos...
They're beautiful! Just wanted to say, for future reference, cats should not be given cow milk as they are lactose intolerant.
Is anyone else wondering why there is a chair facing the wall in the forth photo? I didn't realise the naughty corner existed in offices.
Your comment gave me a good laugh, Ange, in a good way. Thank you
Load More Replies...You gals are AMAZING!!! What you did for this momma and her kitties, was no less than save their lives! It would be terribly difficult for this momma to successfully raise EIGHT kittens in the wild, it's hard enough to find food for herself, but the calories she needs to make enough milk for 8 is off the charts! Chances are that less than half would have survived without this intervention. Oh...and the names you gave them..Unique! I loved them all!!
I am overwhelmed, incredible, fabulous people, wonder if others, simply ignored, the mother cat, she was extremely thin, my heart is filled, with love for you all, you went beyond, the extra mile, may you be Blessed, have a healthy, happy future !!!
Great story. Will you all be taking one (or 2) home? Although I do think you could keep them all.
Yes some of our colleagues will be adopting them. We're going to make sure colleagues get first priority, and/or close friends. We don't want them too far away!
Load More Replies...What a wonderful thing to have done, to take in the pregnant cat instead of simply calling a humane society or animal shelter. It must've been quite hard work and distracting from work! - but these pictures show the real rewards... I love the names! Black Sugar, Pudding, Milk Topping, Pearl... So cute! But Oolong the tabby tux is definitely my favourite 💕
Lovely, but just as a PSA: Don't give cats milk. Almost 70% of them are lactose intolerant, and milk can make them have GI problems.
You really went out of your way to provide a perfect environment for those new lifes, thank you so much. Quick side note: don't feed cow milk to cats, very likely will give them diarrhea.
Something like this could not happen in USA, because we have too strict health codes here 🙁
Not really, as far as I know... I did something very similar, but 30 years ago. I guess, maybe, if someone in the office complained, I'm sure the the foster would just take the young family to their home to grow up. Maybe the laws in that state have changed since then? I think it's really great that they have a whole room to dedicate to young family, and I'm sure that makes a huge difference!
Load More Replies...Not cow milk. We tried giving them KMR (kitten milk replacer, PetAg brand) at about a month old to help Boba cos she was getting stressed out with feeding all eight. Their diet is still mostly mom's milk and the mother&babycat mousse from royal canin.
