While some illustrations are very clear in what they portray, sometimes such drawings can become a little bit too "on the nose." The works of authors like avogado6 are more poetic and enigmatic than that, and they make their viewer pause a little bit and reflect.

And even though they're united under a rigid pastel anime style, the topics are diverse and moods shift from blues to creepy and cruel. But no matter the topic, they have a certain melancholic and existential atmosphere that makes it hard to mistake his work for someone else's.

This reminds me of my kitty Sweetie who passed in May this year at 14 years. She would always come to comfort me when I was sad. Miss her and this comic is cute and sad

Can't decide if it's "be yourself" or "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down".

I love this, IMO they are all staring at her because they are jealous that she doesn’t conform and doesn’t care what anyone thinks (look at her, she is the only one not looking at someone else, she at peace with herself)

EXACTLY. Similarly it also seems to surreptitiously indicate the “competition” women often engage in. All too often, rather than lifting our sisters up, we tear them down to feel better about ourselves. Horrible but all too common.

"出る釘は打たれる" (Deru kugi wa utareru) or in English, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered".

It's about misogynistic standards in corporate japan. How women need to dress, sit, aren't allowed to dye their hair...

I disagree. A qualified person who is memorable often has an edge over one who isn't unless your job can and probably should be done by a computer.

"She" is sitting in a way girls are not supposed to in Japan. Only boys are "allowed" to sit that way. So, idk.

The image is essentially "出る釘は打たれる" (Deru kugi wa utareru) which means "The nail that sticks out gets hammered".

It's really only because of who she is surrounded by though. When you are among your own then it isn't like this.

I felt sad for the young man one. While everyone grew old and died peacefully , he took his own life, probably he had nothing. Some angels are wondering why he is so young and sad here, unlike the others. While the elders were smiling knowing they had fulfill their life, the man face shown emptiness

Perhaps we fill our lives with unnecessary clutter to the point of suffocating/isolating ourselves?

Former living being teaching his friend Death about living. Common idea for artists these days, feeling sorry for Death because it's lonely and can only experience life from afar and only ending it, not creating it.

For anyone wondering, the text says "I can't work", "I can't eat", ""I can't go out", and "I can't go out"

Too much responsibility on kids. Or maybe, being thrown into the adult life without having any experience or knowing what to do.

Notice the 4s on the 2 frames? 4 sounds a lot like death in Japanese, it is the number of death in Japan and seen as a bad omen. Kinda like 13 in other countries.
