Hurricane Harvey is currently devastating southeastern Texas, including the city of Houston. Disastrous flooding, winds gusting up to 95 km/h, and even tornadoes have already caused billions of dollars in property damage, and have reportedly claimed at least 9 lives. Since Harvey made landfall at Rockport, Texas, in the early hours of August 26th, the Internet has become inundated with harrowing photos and stories from affected areas - stories of tragedy, rescue, community and generosity. We're bringing you the ones that are making headlines, and stirring hearts, worldwide.

If you would like to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, Houston mayor Sylvester Turner has set up an emergency relief fund which can be found here.

Scroll down the see the storm that is being called "the worst disaster in Texas history" for yourself. Our thoughts are with all those touched by this event.

Despite advice and predictions there are no hurricane psychics who could have pinpointed who, where and when would suffer the most or be in such danger that the resources and money and time needed to move an entire community would be practical and necessary at that time until it had already began

So 6 million people could have sat in gridlock traffic while roads flooded? They had the best chance at survival where they were. Plus there was no exact way of knowing where it would hit hardest. This is what they had said 30+" for Austin we got Houston's forecast for rain and they got ours and then almost doubled it.

This had to be one of the most heartbreaking pictures from the hurricane. Those poor older people, they probably didnt understand what was happening. So damn sad. I heard that just after this picture hit the internet, within 30 minutes they were rescued. Never hurts to shame at time like that lol

Yes, why didn't someone get in there in time to get those poor elderly people out before they were stuck in water like that. Someone dropped the ball there. Not doing there jobs. Why didn't the people that run the place make sure they got out. It's part of their job isn't. Don't they get paid enough money to make sure. This is not right. Someone needs to look into this. It's not right. Those poor people depends on others to help them, not just in this situation but all areas of any situation.

The staff who left these people alone should be prosecuted for abandoning them, if they were children that would happen. These elderly are as fragile as children. If that were my mom or father I would get a lawyer ASAP.
