Jun Han Chin’s illustrations are a refreshing take on everyday challenges, offering simple but powerful messages that resonate with people. As he puts it, “Life has its highs and lows, but my goal is to help people shift from negative to positive.” One of his favorite public pieces, "Just Run," encourages viewers to take that first step, no matter how daunting it feels.

Through his work, Jun Han hopes to remind people that even small actions can lead to meaningful change, helping them see life from a more positive perspective.

When asked about the impact of his work, he explained to Bored Panda, "Every so often, I get messages like 'I really needed to see this today' or 'This is my kind of chicken soup for the soul.' It’s a great reminder that even something as simple as an illustration can make a difference, whether big or small. I just share my thoughts as I navigate life, and knowing that they resonate with others is incredibly rewarding."

In discussing how he balances positivity with life's challenges, Jun Han said, "Life is full of ups and downs, and I try to reflect that in my work. My goal is to help shift perspectives—from something negative to something hopeful. I like to think of my illustrations as a counterbalance to life's challenges, a way to reframe difficulties and remind people that there’s always another way to look at things."

Regarding the beginning of his illustration journey, he revealed to us, "I actually started by writing book summaries. I’d get asked what I learned from the books I read, and I’d struggle to explain it. Writing things down helped, but when I started drawing out key ideas, I realized how much easier they were to remember. That’s what led me to visual storytelling—I saw firsthand how effective it was, not just for me, but for others too."

There’s a lot more than that out there. I don’t know much, but I know that.

When asked what fuels his passion for creating art, he simply remarked, "There’s so much information out there, but we only retain a tiny fraction of it. That’s what drives me—translating complex ideas into simple visuals that people can understand, use, and actually remember. I don’t see myself as an artist in the traditional sense. I’m not aiming to create stunning, gallery-worthy pieces—I just want to communicate ideas in a way that sticks."

Finally, on the core message behind his work, he stated, "If there’s one thing I hope people take away from my illustrations, it’s to live with optimism. No matter what you’re going through, things can and will get better. I try to capture that mindset in my work—because sometimes, all we need is a small reminder that the bad moments don’t last forever."

Yes. I love this. The problem is convincing other people to disconnect with you otherwise it's a very lonely existence.

Actually, doing the right ones isn't nearly as important as *not* doing the wrong ones. I've often told my kid while growing up, that most of success in life doesn't come from making super smart decisions all the time. It mostly comes from not making one or two really dumb ones. For purposes of the image, imagine a landmine.

Excellent. Talent only gets you so far. I admit it bothers me when people see great art and respond with "that artist is so talented!" Maybe yes, but they are definitely SKILLED and put in the WORK to get where they are.

The source and intention of the compliment is what matters most. I remember in middle school... Our music teacher would compliment coming up with good notes. Our Islamic ethics teacher would compliment hatred of music and recitation of anything other than the Quran... One was a good happy-go-lucky man. I have never seen him frown. One was a twisted bitter woman. She shouts at kids when they don't comply. By kids I mostly mean me XD

That's twice that the word "more" has been censored. I'm curious why this is.

That looks like one of those metal slides that give you 2nd degree burns and if you have shorts on make the skin on metal screech you slowly and painfully to the bottom.

OK, it definitely is the word "more" that is getting the old censoring chop-chop. Now I am distracted . . . . yet intrigued.

This used to be my childhood motto. "you have to make a mess to make it clean!" Then I would proceed to throw everything I own in the center of my bedroom and put it all away from scratch. It did work.

In my experience, more poor people will give than rich people. There are exceptions, of course. (My ex-husband's family is wealthy & very generous.) But at least in the US, most rich people just hoard, like dragons protecting their gold.
