People Are Ruthless After Plus-Sized Woman Complains About Not Being Pushed In Wheelchair

My body is not the problem, the system is? Well girl... your body is the problem, im sorry. But even more.. your mentallity is the biggest problem..

She really is the definition of a waste of space. Repulsive person who is demonising those with weight issues by turning people against them through stupid stunts.

So timely. I am about to take a plane. I can walk but not for distances. They take me to the gate but i board by walking down the jetbridge. However, wgen i get off the plane, there is the chair . And i hate that. I weigh 200 lbs and i dont want the attendant struggling to push me up the ramp. It is embarrassing. Yes, i am embarrassed for being this heavy and need to get an exercise routine. I told my brother I am going to tell them to meet me at the top.

Her again? It is unfortunate that she is morbidly obese, but it is not other people's responsibility to deal with her unusually large size. She needs to take some responsibility and make arrangements with friends or family or an aide to help her out. Also, she just has a c r a p attitude and seems to do this for clicks...

I've seen this woman on You Tube several times not only complaining about airports but, hotels and amusement parks. She is a "travel influencer". She wants hotel towels to be larger so plus size people can wrap themselves, sturdier and wider chaise loungers/ bar stools, larger corridors and larger elevators. In other words, total renovations for plus size travelers.

I am obese. I am not ashamed because of my body. My self esteem is fine and I make no apologies for my size. That being said, I am also self aware. If I need a second seat I purchase a second seat. I pay for priority boarding so I don't have to squeeze my way through and inconvenience everyone else. I support your right to be comfortable in your body no matter the size, but no person should have to make concessions to accommodate you. If you need someone to push you in a wheel chair then make arrangements. Strangers are not responsible for you.

No way in Hell I'm going to push someone if there is a real danger that I am going to injure myself by doing so. Since when do other people need to sacrifice their health because someone else is plussize? I

Nobody owes you a wheelchair ride when you weight 500+ lbs. They have a right to say no.

I support her right to go bungee jumping despite there being a weight limit. Don't let the bungee jump companies discriminate against her!

Someone could seriously hurt themselves pushing any heavy weight up a hill/bridge/slope. Why should anyone hurt themselves for that, if they can refuse to push heavy items they can refuse to push anyone who is too heavy for the same reason.

I'd like to know if she walked into the airport or if she had a wheelchair. If she walked, it's reasonable for the workers to think she should be fine, regardless of weight. If she came in a wheelchair then yes, she obviously needs the chair and they should try to accommodate.

The thing that is annoying about this is the fact that she says she can walk but always chooses to have wheelchair assistance at airports all the time. What about the people who are genuinely disabled and need assistance, she’s making a mockery of them. Just so that she can think being fat is being disabled, incorrect because in this persons perspective it’s all about her and not the needs of genuinely disabled people

She’s flying southwest. I can’t wait for them to start assigned seats because there are way too many wheelchair users who do it just so they can board the plane first and get a good seat.

As i've said on the previous article, if she didn't disclose her weight when she asked for a wheelchair i don't blame the flight attendant who expected someone with mobility issues and a person weghing like a baby elephant showed up. Breaking her back is not in the job description.

I don’t like the horrible comments directed at her physical condition but that’s because both my sisters are morbidly obese and the things people are willing to say to their faces or within their hearing are truly awful. I know that the reason they are so overweight is they developed an unhealthy relationship with food because we were all physically abused from a young age (egg donor). They comfort ate to self-sooth, but are trying really hard through therapy and working with nutritionists to get mentally healthy and lose weight. So, yeah, it’s easy to judge harshly when you don’t understand the background. This said, she’s campaigning for the wrong things. Airports should have motorized scooters, like they do in many grocery stores, so that people can be moved safely onboard without risking harm to airport/airline employees. Sure, campaign for larger seats but, just like tall people have to pay extra for more leg room, obese passengers should pay extra to have those seats. A close friend is 6’9”, he doesn’t complain about having to pay extra for a seat to accommodate his height (much, lol). But he also doesn’t face the sheer cruelty or disgust that obese people experience on a daily basis simply because unusually tall isn’t treated as shameful.

My sister is obese and she can get around just fine, at 70!. She also has bought two seats for travel, not wanting to bother others with her huge size. Instead of making others think of accommodating you, you should realize you must compromise to the world. No one cares, it's all on you.

I wasn't aware the airport was responsible for wheeling my a*s around. Also, at that point, it's less of a "push" and more of a "tow"

Lazy and FAT. Don't blame your problems on others. Airlines offer a service. They don't owe you anything & certainly shouldn't have to change things to accommodate people who consciously ate themselves into obesity.

Looks like she is perfectly capable of standing and walking so she is just a lazy f b. I have far more concern for those who actually need a chair.

Just because she can walk (original comments) doesn't mean she's not disabled. I am disabled and can walk short distances. That said, she should not expect people to push her. She may weigh too much for them to push safely. I have been obese and losing weight is extremely difficult: obesity is not simple, as science is just discovering.She should get something with a motor to help her.

I 100% believe that many cases of obesity are related to mental health struggles/imbalance and the degree of fatphobia today is disgusting but there's advocating for yourself and then there's being entitled and delusional. I just kept thinking what if the steward wasn't strong enough to push that weight and she rolled back over them. I think you should speak up for yourself in this world and yes, you should be allowed to ask for assistance, but not if it's going to harm the person you're asking. This woman in the article should've called ahead and let them know her circumstances so that the airline could put safety measures in place or something could've been planned out at her own cost.
