Plus-Size Models Ask Photographer To Make Them Skinny, Reveal How Much Photoshop Can Change Your Body

Nowadays it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not. Most of the images that we see in social media or magazines have been more or less altered using photo editing software and that has been putting unrealistic beauty standards in our heads and slowly distorting our understanding of reality itself. But some people refuse to put up with this and want to open people’s eyes to the truth.

Two beautiful plus-size models, Diana Sirokai and Callie Thorpe teamed up with professional photographer Karizza to show how the media takes photo manipulation to a different level. Diana and Callie had their picture taken and Karizza used photoshop to make extreme body image edits.

“I have to say we look amazing both ways”, Diana wrote on her Instagram post. “The purpose of this was to show you all how magazines and the media take editing to a different level. Models and celebrities do not even look like themselves in those photoshopped images. We live in such a fake world it’s time to bring real back. Own who you are and slay!”

Take a look at the before and after images of the beautiful women below and let us know what you think.

More info: Diana’s InstagramCallie’s Instagram

These two beautiful ladies, Callie on the left and Diana on the right, decided to show how magazines and the media takes editing to a different level

They asked a professional photographer to use photoshop on their bodies to show how much can be changed using computer software

In the same post, they showed the original image encouraging people to “Own who you are and slay “

This was not the first time these ladies spread the body positivity message

Last month Diana shared an image of her body next to Kim Kardashian with an empowering note – “We are both women with different bodies”

The main message of these girls is that everyone should love themselves and that’s something that everyone can get behind

Sure, you should love yourselfe, but just as supeskinny should'nt be encouraged because it's unhealthy, overweight shouldn't be encouraged either, for the same reason.

But I guess the Point here was to show how magazines use editing and that I like.

That weight does not come from eating healthy. That leads.to illnesses. Being overweight is a predesposition for illness. People who claim they like themselves like this are trying to make others believe they are happy. I wont be happy carrying that weight around

overweight could be fine, obese is not. I am overweight, more because of poly cystic ovarium syndrome that I had since kid. When I try to eat better, work out regularly, being more positive minded, I actually aimed at being healthy, not losing weight. This women are campaigning on how to respect and love yourself, despite what size of the curves might be; they're not endorsing people to be overweight.

everybody can look happy enough if a picture. Suicide people will have terrific days before killing themselves. Ultra skinny people isn't happy either, no matter how bid they smile for the pictures. As for the healthy issue, obese young people will be diabetic adults with blood pressure issues. If you're that young and you're over 200 pounds, it's not healthy and you wont be laughing when you need dialysis, kidney or heart transplant, just like a skinny girl will loose her periods, would be cronical anemic and develop a massive failure pretty much on every organ: just like obese people (not a little fat people, not a little round people, not a normal woman weighting 150 pounds in her forties)

One doesn't have to be ashamed of fat to lose it. If one really loves her body, she does her best to take care of it. And, no matter how beautiful they are, all that fat is going to shorten their lives, and do it in a most unpleasant way.

Love ourselves as we are? YES, definitely. Glorify OBESITY? I don't think that's such a hot idea as excessive weight can create health problems and physical stress, even kill a person just as quickly (or faster) than super skinny. (I'm not talking about bulimia or Pocrescophobia or Anorexia.)

I think that body positivity is about loving your body and wanting the best for your body. It is great that they love their body but they should also strive to be healthier so it is better for them to go on a healthy diet and exercise.

Stop praising obesity. Stop praising underweight. Praise regular weight people. Praise healthy lifestyle with eating normal, regular portions adjusted to your age, work routine and metabolism capacity. Praise excercises in reasonable amount. Why are extremes so "fashionable"? Oh, and praise going to a doc for hormones check up and thyroid check up - those are very often the cause of obesity/underweight and should be under control via medicines under the doctors guidance if needed.

What is regular weight people? It is a proven scientific fact that size isn’t a factor in your health. What you are saying is that large body size to you means people aren’t living a healthy lifestyle, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Many of us living with obesity live very healthy. We just happen to live in larger bodies. Smaller bodies can be extremely unhealthy as can all sizes remember that. You can’t tell Health from size FACT

Bang on this is obesity and it's not healthy. Don't get me wrong they are beautiful and if they are happy it is their choice but we are too soft nowadays on people on either spectrum of the scale. Jodi calling obesity a disease is wrong on so many levels, obesity is a symptom whether it be a symptom of bad lifestyle choices (overeating, bad portion control, lack of exercise) or an underlying health condition (thyroid problems etc.) calling it a disease allows people to mentally remove themselves from any culpability in the problem. I saw this when my friend was battling heroin addiction when he first went to rehab the counselors there allowed him to blame his issues on his "addiction" as if it was something beyond his control to begin with, this made it easy for him to relapse as he could blame this. He has told me himself that the second he started taking responsibility for his actions he found it easier to stay clean and he has now been sober for 2 years.

Hogwash. Obesity is a sign of an addiction/compulsion to eat, eat, eat. We are addicted to the adrenaline spurt we feel when we think about, see, or bite into food. It hits our pleasure centers so intensely that we want to keep feeling it over and over. It makes us feel better. Accepting your obesity is no different than a drunk or addict saying, "I love myself. I shake in the morning and throw up and make a fool out of myself, but that's me and I don't need to change. Accept me the way I am." Staying obese is a sign of depression. When I weighed 321 pounds, I thought I was doomed to be fat forever. The thought of losing weight seemed totally impossible. We are overwhelmed. Strength is NOT caving and giving in to obesity......strength is admitting that once you start eating you cannot stop, and that your health and size are unmanagable, and committing yourself to turning your life around.

If they are really happy with themselves... you won't find them around spreading this kind of messages. If someone want to lose weight and they are willing to work for it, why the hell you would go and tell them "hey hottie, you shouldn't lose weight because you are sexy the way you are!" See? That is the problem, they are mostly just a bunch of people insecure about themselves and doesn't want to get up and work on it to lose weight so they go around bashing other's effort. Duh. It is fine if you are happy being plus size, but that doesn't mean you should go around telling people who want to get fit to stay big, that is just wrong.

Sorry, but to encourage people to love themselves at a weight which is unhealthy and downright dangerous is beyond irresponsible. No one is saying you need to be skinny but watching what you eat and exercising regularly should be encouraged.

"Everyone should love themselves and that’s something that everyone can get behind" Well anyone could hide behind that "model" HAH Anyway.. The media tries to brainwash people, by telling us to Accept and Love Sickness. Why? Because obesity is a Sickness ladies and gentlemen. A few years ago the model industry were promoting very skinny girls, which is also NOT healthy. Is this the solution? To run from one extreme to another? Why cant we see healthy "ordinary" women for once?

I am just going to say it, this level of FAT is dangerous, if you can't "carry it" without feeling bad, then you know you are fat and probably wish you were less so..,so...,just become skinnier, do the work, you can do it and then the "issue" just goes away....

I love the message behind this, but if you're super overweight that's not okay. You shouldn't tell them that it's okay because that can lead to serious illnesses. Same with being super under weight. Its okay to be a little thicker. Whats not okay is telling people who are unhealthy that its okay to be that way.

It saddens me that we only ever advertise extreme, no one is interested in normal, healthy women. Not skeletons or overweight, just normal. With stretchmarks, with wobbly bits, with legs too long or too short, with thick waists and strong arms or with small backs and no boobs - just normal sized women! I guess our eternal thirst for sensationalism is simply not quenched by normal.

I think that they should I prove their bodies is they can. The reason being that women’s body shape is seen by men as being fecund or not. If it is the ‘right’ shape they will get mated with. Yes it’s superficial but it is the motivating force by which to increase the population which is the only reason that nature makes men pursue women. However, one also, ideally, should find a partner, bond together so that any children that might ensue are more easily looked after. Nature does not care for your self esteem. Personally I prefer not fat or thin, they are both unhealthy. If I can find them I will, if I can get away with it, mate with them all. We were programmed to do that but society is not organised that way

I once had a client for a boudoir shoot that she wanted me to slim, smooth...pretty much edit everything possible. By the time i was done with the editing she looked 20 years younger. She was raving about the photos one day, than 24-48 hrs later she was upset how it didn't look like her, than she was happy and amazed again with the photos. It was a seesaw of loving and hating images. After her, my contracts now state that I don't do body alterations, slimming etc. Everyone should love who they are as they are. If you are truly unhappy about your weight, change your lifestyles. I cringe seeing people now adays in their 20 getting Botox and plastic surgery etc...

Is it even possible today to love yourself the way you are when everyone expects the best from you? I do not believe it. If you are a man you have to work out, have muscles, good clothes, property etc., if you are a women you have to look super beautiful in every aspect possible, have long hair, big breasts, whatever. In every relationships one person, generally the one who spends less time taking care of her/himself criticizes the other half especially when they look better....Nobody is good enough for anybody. There will always be some people who will find a reason why to humiliate others. So, I say let us give this planet back to the animals!

If you have never been FAT or OBESE then what do you know about it? You only know what you read, or have heard. Being big may not be healthy for some at the same time there are big people out there who eat little and eat healthy and are still big. Its hard to lose weight for some people, and before you say, "you shouldn't have eat so much." Being FAT isnt always about what you eat or what you choose to eat. or even how much you move and exercise. It's so sad how you sit there and judge someone on their size and make judgments about them based solely on what you see. It hurts. when you make comments about someone not being "healthy" enough or "skinny" I applause these girls for saying It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks I'm happy the way i am. I wish more people could be like that.

I have lost the weight and almost gotten down to my "ideal" weight according to my BMI and I looked disgusting and sick. Brinna Rhys Bell, you must not be an American if you say that. I think those women look gorgeous. They are all beautiful. Weight is just a number. Being plus size doesn't change the type of person you are personality-wise. I would rather be plus size than skinny like girls in magazines. Don't get me wrong they are all stunning too, but sometimes being too skinny isn't a good thing. I know this from trying to be more thin. I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.

i can't believe how many people are still criticizing these ladies for their weight. we are learning more about "healthy" weights every day. The problem is people judging others for their looks. NEWS FLASH! some people don't have as much control over their body as you or I might. some people gain weight when only eating dry salad every day. some people eat 5000 calories a day and can't gain a pound unless they lay in bed all day. we need to stop judging people on their looks and thinking they are less healthy simply because of their body weight or type. YES certain extremes are very unhealthy. but i can tell you most people don't want to be at those extremes. and many who are don't have the choice. Its an uphill battle. support instead of shame.

No. "Support instead of shame" is half the reason America has an obesity epidemic. Look, don't make fun of strangers on the street, fine. But loved ones? Kids? Enough is enough. It's time for tough love. If you wanna love yourself when youre overweight, fine, but you'll be dead sooner than average. They are less healthy...that's not me judging or shaming. It's a fact.

Yes, statistically speaking overweight people are less healthy. Just like statistically speaking men are taller than women, but would you bet your life that any random man will be taller than any random women? Of course not, because we all know that a woman taller than a man is nothing unnatural and happens a lot. So stop just assuming that any fat person is unfit and unhealthy and skinny person is always healthier. These girls are professional models. Just follow any professional plus size model and see their diet and workout regimen before you start telling nonsense about how unhealthy they are.

Ben Smith

Lol...no, I wouldn't bet my life that any random woman is shorter than a random man. However, I would bet my life that the average man is taller than the average woman. Just like I'd bet my life that an overweight person is more likely to be unhealthy and die sooner than a thin person. As we've said many times, this isn't an argument about a specific person. It's a scientific fact about the population at large. I have no idea if these specific women are unhealthy or healthy. But it's a dangerous thing if they - or anyone - makes it seem that being overweight is healthy. It's simply not.

Oh for Effs sake! All of you self righteous asses get over yourself. Nobody is promoting or shaming obesity, skinny or in between. What this article is about is that what we see in media isnt real. NOT REAL ...so before obsessing one way or the other about having the perfect body, makeup, hair, skin texture, tone etc ...realize it is all manipulated. NOT REAL LIFE. Strive for real.

the assumption that overweight people are unhealthy is as false as the assumption that thin people are healthy. Having been heavy my whole life, until last year I was completely healthy, and my current illness has absolutely zero to do with my body size. (pernicious anemia, an immune system disorder that is not dietary or size related) I don't have diabetes, and you don't have to be heavy to have diabetes. Please stop couching your concern for overweight people in your worry over their health. Just admit you have a size prejudice and you suck as a human being. Except for my PA, I'm willing to bet I'm healthier than most of you naysayers (btw, I'm 58, have normal cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose levels. No thyroid issues, no weight related diseases, never even a broken bone. Last spring was my first time even in a hospital. I have lots of "healthy" thin friends with a litany of illnesses)

Let's be honest: you do not have to be a doctor (internet or actual) to know that being overweight increases cancer risk, diabetes risk, heart disease risk. Sorry but I will not go along to get along with this "love yourself no matter how you look" dictate as it simply is not healthy and sends a wrong message. It is not how overweight people look that is an issue but how detrimental it is to themselves and ultimately to society in terms of increased health care costs.

I love how everyone is suddenly a doctor. Both of my grandmothers lived past 95 and both were a size 16. My mother's death was completely unrelated to weight at a size 18 at 77. All of them were active and healthy. No one is sitting around eating cakes. Yes you can gain weight by eating "healthy" food. If you are thin then good for you but stop pretending that you know why people are heavy.

There are always outliers. Healthy people get cancer and die young. Overweight people can live to a 100. We're not talking about 1 or 2 or even 1000 specific people. We're talking about millions of people and there is absolutely no argument that being overweight isn't generally unhealthy. No real doctor, non-doctor or whoever can deny that.

Gotta love it when the "internet doctors" come out. These women are gorgeous and their style is incredible.
