This Is What Happens When A Plus-Size Model Tries To Recreate Gigi Hadid’s Nude Photo Shoot

We first met Diana Sirokai a while back in a previous post of ours, when she had spent a little time recreating shots of Kim Kardashian in her own, plus-sized style. Now she has teamed up again with fashion photographer Karizza to recreate another iconic photoshoot, this time the nude shot of Gigi Hadid.

Uploaded on Instagram with the caption “I was just wondering how a model my Size would look on this” the photo shows Diana nude apart from a pair of boots, hand across chest while giving a sultry look to the camera.

While most commenters on her post were positive and supportive of Diana and her efforts to promote body diversity in the fashion industry, there were the inevitable disagreements between those who embrace a body-positive image like Diana promotes, and those who believe that normalising unhealthy weight gain should not be encouraged. “I wanna tell you that I admire your strength to show yourself to the world and love yourself the way you do. Both of you look beautiful in the pictures,” said one user, striking the right kind of positive vibe that we believe lies behind Diana’s original intention.

No matter what your position on the issue is, Diana is undeniably a beautiful woman. Scroll down below to check out her recreation photoshoot, as well as some of her previous photos. It’s not a competition to see which woman looks ‘better’ in the pictures, just a way of showing that women of all sizes are beautiful. Simple!

She even shared an image of her body next to Kim Kardashian with an empowering note – “We are both women with different bodies”

Why there is no middle ground in fashion industry? Either models are really skinny or really overweight to the point it's health endangering. Why not show a model who is average healthy size? Thou there is Iskra Lawrence, I just remembered. :)

not this again..... why cannt the fashion-industry just get "regular" models? plus size is the same unhealthy thing than those old school skinny models.. I dont get it...

Traditionally speaking, thinner models were used, as most folks are thinner when younger, and "youth" is considered the "most" appealing, as it is during youth that women were available for marriage, therefore, more appealing to men. "All" models are the 'same' size, simply for consistency. "Models" were needed to display / show clothes, when fashion started to be mass-manufactured. So, for the sake of simplicity & cost-effectiveness, those displaying the clothes had to be able to fit the display-model of the clothes. The stores couldn't afford to have one of every item of clothing, in every size, to be used for 'display'.... so they'd choose one size, and hire models who were that size. This then continued on, as the fashion industry expanded. The reason for thinner models being preferred, from a construction point of view: less curves, therefore less tailoring required. ie it's "easier" to fit someone with less curves. I hope that helps explain the history behind it. :)

No. You're morbidly obese. Don't "own" that. It's not a matter of appearance, it's a matter of health.

Monilip, it wasnโ€™t painters who considered fat a โ€˜beautyโ€™ it was the style of the rich. They could afford to be fat because it showed they didnโ€™t have to work like the serfs. They could gorge themselves all day. Much like today itโ€™s the exact opposite, whereas status shows you can afford to eat healthy and work out and stay thin.

Diana, you are a beautiful woman. I looked like you at that age. Now I'm 52 and the weight I have carried for the past 35+ years has about destroyed my life. I can't walk with assistance. I can't get up out of chairs. I can barely breath anymore and unfortunately it is a result of the pressure on my joints and muscles that the extra weight contributed too. Love who you are, but please, please to physically keep your body in mind when thinking about your future.

If she really loved her body, she would take care of it. Don't 'accept' yourself--improve yourself. Being the best you can be is a lifelong journey. This just glamorizes laziness.

To improve yourself, you first need to accept yourself, though... Improving yourself involves a lot of studying and observation. If you don't accept yourself first, you're too shy or roo anxious to start anything.

Skinny models: unhealthy Obese models: unhealthy Canโ€™t the industry use regular models, with a healthy weight to promote body positivity and fashion brands (and everything else models promote)? I am sick and tired of seeing obesity promoted as โ€œbody positivityโ€ - whatever the cause, obesity is just as unhealthy as anorexia/boulimia and neither of those โ€œbody typesโ€ should be promoted as a standard of beauty.

I'm glad to see push back on these types of articles. You wouldn't glorify someone smoking or drinking to excess, but when people are very overweight you have no problem whatsoever. Being that heavy is torture on your body. Just stop with this s**t already.

I was skinny my whole life until developing a tumor (I named it Marla bc Fight Club) in my noggin. The weight isnโ€™t whatโ€™s made me unhealthy, itโ€™s the extra hormones secreted due to Marla that have given me problems. Weight can be a symptom of a different problem. Short version: donโ€™t f____ing judge others, because weโ€™re all on difficult journeys and not all involve Krispy Kremes and corn dogs.

Man people are really mean, she is beautiful. Yes she may be at a size that is risky but we don't know her situation, she might be trying to get healthier and in the meantime is embracing her body and trying to love it. I don't know, I feel conflicted. Yes we should strive to be healthy for our body types, some people are a bigger build or simply put on weight easier than others, when I see this I see someone trying to love themself in a world where size zero is deemed beautiful in the fashion world and doing the best they can. I don't see it as she's trying to say it's okay to be big or to try promote bad eating or not being healthy, I see it as her just trying to feel good again, a lot of these comments run the risk of promoting eating disorders by shaming her into being skinny. As someone that was bullied for being skinny, it's just sad that weight is such a big deal.

We are put on this earth for a short time and we need to live our lives with Love and understanding. We need to focus on who we are and how we care about each other. Not everyone is overweight due to overeating or eating the wrong food. I would bet that everyone of you that have made a nasty comment either just graze in the back yard or you can eat anything you want and don't gain an ounce. None of us have a right to judge because you don't know if someone is ill and on steroids or has tried numerous times and there are other issues. Who are you to judge? If someone is really skinny do you blame it on NOT eating? I have seen people eat tons of food at meals and don't gain an ounce. STOP JUDGING and see the inner Beauty of someone. You may be walking in their shoes one day.

Bored Panda must stop promoting 'fat acceptance.' Imagine someone with serious obesity issue coming home from a sobering conversation with their physician, who just informed them that they have to lose a significant amount of weight or they will be courting a heart attack. The person has been in denial about their dangerous obesity for some time, but a little voice is starting to speak in their head. A little voice says: 'You have to make a change, you have to put in the hard work and sacrifice it's going to take to reform this problem.' They are starting to get it, they are starting to think: 'Maybe I've been in denial about my obesity. Maybe I'll start exercising and eating better.' But then they go on here or BuzzFeed and see a bunch of posts about 'fat acceptance' and how they can be a 'plus size model'. What does the person think now? Does this person still see a clear message that they need to seek a personal reform? Are they still going to get it?

I think she knows she's overweight but that isn't even close to the the same as someone who might be 'courting a heart attack'. Some people are naturally that size but people just tend to think they are lazy and don't care about their health. For all we know she could be living a very healthy lifestyle.

These comments are always so predictable from the sanctimonious skinny people who cannot fathom a fat person who doesn't wallow in self-loathing. There are worse things than being fat, and there are far worse vices than food. If you look like you've got your s**t together, be grateful, but don't delude yourself into believing your fat shaming has anything to do with health. You don't have to like or approve of fat people but just stop lying. You feel superior because you perceive them as weaker. I'm skinny, but I'm also a heroin addict who considers an almond joy part of a balanced breakfast, but your lot would think I've got my s**t together because you judge by what you can see on the most base of levels. This is why I prefer my animals to people. People just f****n suck.

There's petite and big body sizes - and both are ok. Then there are anorexic and (morbidly) obese bodies - and both are not ok, are dangerous role models and put a heavy strain on their health, our society and our healthcare system.

Totally agree with some ladies here. Obesity is the same as being skinny. It is an issue of health and having so much weight on is extremely unhealthy as is being under the normal weight. This is not healthy we should not promote it.

I'm fat and healthy. I am 58 and have been fat my entire life. Believe it or not my husband loves me the way I am. People are different. Period. I happen to enjoy wearing pretty clothes and I don't care if anyone else likes it or not. I do have issues with young girls that feel driven to do unhealthy things to try to look like models. Most average models in magazines etc, are not average. It is wrong to make so many girls feel not good enough because they are normal.

I happen to be fat. Oh, by the way, at 58, I don't happen to have any health problems. But that isn't the issue. My entire life I have been ridiculed for being fat. I don't make fun of anyone for being too skinny. How about looking inside before you assume anything about another person? Then there is the issue that all fat women are old, tasteless people that don't like nice clothes because forever there was nothing but housedresses if you were a , size 22

Let me just say that both these women are beautiful, definitely. That being said, I am concerned for her health, because wether she wants to say it or not she is overweight. Why is it nowadays it's either super skinny or unhealthily overweight? Can't we just have people who are a good in between? You don't have to go from one extreme end of the spectrum to the other.

I asked my doctor about protein shakes when we were talking about weight loss she said it would make it worse. I'm fat because of medical conditions and my main point was to the guy that said you can't get fat if you eat right and exercise you won't be fat, I just wanted to give an example for him that some times it's not enough and that being fat isn't a choice some times. Yeah I could get things like surgery or diet pills but not everyone has that option, myself included.

Sorry, but I don't care how well you dress or how much make-up you put on or how well your hair is styled.... being that fat is not a healthy life choice and it should not be "embraced" nor "encouraged" as beautiful. Also, the other super thin unhealthy extreme is also not good for young women. Teach them realistic goals.

Another 'body-confidence' thing. If you want to show yourself or the others you are a confident woman, you don't need to strip to do that. You end up doing the opposite. Confidence doesn't necessarily come through nakedness. Women, slim, underweight or fat, shouldn't have such photos of themselves published. It is self-objectifying, indeed.

It's not a reality that most people buy into, it's the perception of a phoney reality propagated by the fashion industry, and we all know that industries create false perceptions in order to make money. If people continue to be fooled and conditioned by industry and the media, they end up with mush for brains, incapable of thinking or deciding for themselves, based on values that matter. It also tend to define those who allow themselves to be brain-washed and conditioned. It's sad reflection of people in the 21st century, and in materialistic societies, that they fall under the thrall of mediocrity.

Love the pictures but agree she should do something about her size...on the other side of the coin thereare those who are to skinny...women are killing themselves trying to be to thin...I think a good weight for most women is 120 pounds..depending on height...One small thing an overweight person can do at home is use a smaller dinner plate..use a salad plate instead..something as simple as that and filling it once would help a lot...stay away from all the drive throughs...I am 73 and weigh 135..I use to weigh 97 pounds..I was skin and bones..looking back at those pictures of myself I am shocked at how think I was...Twiggy started it in my generation..we all wanted to look like her..a Size 8 is a good size as well as a 10...Woman need to keep themselves healthy. That is what counts...Health..The one thing I can not agree on with most here is yes SHE SHOULD LOVE HER BODY...she should love her whole self...we all should...she just need to get her beautiful self down a little bit on the sc

You people are disgusting! It doesn't matter if she's underweight, average weight, or overweight. The point is that it shouldn't matter to anyone but that person! Anyone sitting in judgment of another is disgusting and only adds to the negativity and c**p that exists in the world today. The point of "owning" your body and image is about body positivity......where if you view yourself in a more positive light, you will be happier and ultimately healthier.. But no folks, continue to put people down and point out that YOU think they are morbidly obese and ugly, and let's see how that helps! And by the way, how do you know if Diana is morbidly obese? Are you her doctor? As someone who does not know her I would say that yes, she does look larger than average, but we do not know her medical status. Lastly, even if someone is obese, there are sometimes medical reasons.....like glandular problems, etc. Again, you don't know her, are not her, and are not involved in her medical care!

Stop hiding your disgust for fat people under your pretense of concern for their health. You don't care about their cholesterol levels, diabetes risk, possible metabolic disorders that may provide explanation for their body type... you have been conditioned by the media to immediately recoil in disgust at the sight of anyone with even the slightest hint of a roll or crease on their bodies. At least be honest about what it is that upsets you about this. Admit that you just think fat people are ugly, shouldn't share the same space as everyone else, and don't deserve to feel good about themselves. If you're gonna be ugly to people, have the balls to be real about it.

I will opening admit that I don't find overweight people attractive. I have no problem admitting that just as I have no problem with people who either are indifferent to it or are attracted to it. Your claim that people think overweight people shouldn't "share the same space" and "don't deserve to feel good about themselves" is way off base though. Here's thing, if you're fat and proud, fine, but stop glamorizing it like it's a goal, especially for young people. The fact is it's unhealthy and especially for young people, make them a target for bullies which leads to a host of other problems. The problem with models like this isn't "fat shaming" by the public, it's "fat glamorizing" by the models themselves.

There are so many of these posts I'm starting to feel bad for the models. They're just trying to do their job but every five minutes someone is taking their pictures and replacing it with someone they think is prettier or more body positive. Actual models probably do support body positivity but it's overshadowed by fatter people.

If she really is into "body beautiful", why don't she lose the weight? Being overweight is as bad as being too skinny as so many of the models are. How about a regular size 12 or 14 model? That's about the size many women are at? Fat is fat and is it NOT beautiful. It's fat. In fact, this woman is not just fat, she's obese!!! And it's unattractive and why she wants to OWN that ... I don't understand. To me, it just seems she's too lazy to work out and lose that ugly fat.

It would be great if we could promote a positive body image by keeping our clothes on. It doesn't do anything for young girls but make them think they have to take their clothes off.

This is getting insane. All the anti-fat-shaming-campaings went too far. This is a question of health and life style. Whatยดs next? Low IQ scientists? Hand-less brain surgeons? Writers with no vocabulary? Nannies hating kids? Just to not make anybody feel uncomfortable? I think people should do what is best for them based on their skills, experience, and yes, in case of modeling - appearance.

Another discussion about weight...Some people have conditions that makes them big, others just simply want to be big, get over it. Use all types of bodies, some have a hard time putting on weight, others have a hard time loosing weight, why should any be excluded?

Then there is the issue that all fat women are old, tasteless people that don't like nice clothes because forever there was nothing but housedresses if you were a , size 22

fat, obese, unhealthy, ugly, ignorant, stupid are the same as the opposite adjective terms thin, fit, healthy, beautiful, intelligent, genius... do not inter relate the terms to try to make the sound like healthy and own it... it is obese, it is unhealthy and it is ugly... deal with it! learn to call a spade a spade and not a healthy swiss knife!

If women want to stop this ridiculously impossible standard in fashion/beauty magazines then STOP BUYING THEM. You have the power. They will only publish what you pay for. So stop buying Vogue and bitching about the model on the cover.... YOU paid that model with your purchase price.
