Facebook Group Photoshops Plus-Sized Women To ‘Inspire’ Them To Lose Weight

Photoshop has become synonymous with “beautifying” photos that would otherwise have imperfections. In some cases, this is OK, and magazines and online media do some photo editing with a subject’s consent. Recently, however, a group going by the name of “Project Harpoon” (Facebook page presently shut down) has drawn criticism for photoshopping plus-size models to appear thinner. An offshoot of ThInnerBeauty, a website, and subreddit, the group aims to “inspire” its targets to lose weight.

“Here at ThInnerBeauty we provide people with visible, achievable healthy body goals,” says the page description on Reddit. “We do this by showing how much more beautiful they could look if they made the difficult, lifelong commitment to a regimen of personal fitness. This is a place where we can manipulate plus-size girls’ photos to highlight the difference between how they are and how they could be.”

The Reddit site appears to be slightly less prone to body shaming, as many of the photoshopped images are submitted by real users asking to be motivated.

F**k this. Look, I'm all for promoting a healthier lifestyle. But photo-shopping someone else's body without their consent is a d**k move. You aren't trying to "motivate" them to be healthier-- you are simply saying, we'd feel more comfortable with you if you looked like this. Further more, jesus effin christ, those photo-shopped images are so unrealistic-- NO woman alive is going to have that tiny waist and huge breast naturally-- especially not if they lose that much weight. Can we all just f**k off and stop telling other people what to do with their bodies?!

Exactly! Why would these women care what those photo-shoppers think? If they like how they look, than that's fine. In Fact I think that's all that matters

This is ridiculous. A lot of these girls aren't even big. You are just body shaming for the hell of it. They are all gorgeous even if they are over-weight, but that is their decision. You don't even know if they are exercising or eating a healthy diet now.. I hate when people assume things. Tess holiday goes to the gym contrary to popular belief. Stop "fat shaming" and fix whatever is going wrong in your life that urges you to judge someone else and try to hurt them.

You keep using that word "decision"... Do you realize that most overweight people, if they had the option to be skinny, they'd chose it in a hart beat. For most overweight people, it's not so much a choice, as it is a "curse". They lack the discipline and the motivation to actually do something about it, however, they most likely dream of being skinny. So no, I don't believe that there's anything wrong in motivating overweight people to lose weight. On the other hand, I do believe that it's morally wrong to tell people that they should stay the way they are, if it's clearly unhealthy. I'm not American, and I'm convinced that one of the reasons for the growing obesity rate in the US, is because it has become a standard, which isn't the case in the rest of the world. What's considered "normal" in the US, is considered fat/overweight in Europe. If you want to get rid of obesity, stop lowering your health standards, and don't tell overweight/obese people that they're beautiful.

I think the point that everyone is missing is that we, as women, are in no way obligated to look a certain way for anyone. That's where the chutzpah comes in here, that this site (and the Sub Reddit site) seem to think that women need inspiration to "make a lifelong commitment" so that we can look pretty for the boys. And really, isn't that our ultimate life goal, ladies? Funny, I don't see any modified pictures of Kevin James or Jonah Hill.

That's certianly not my life goal to look pretty for any guy. If someone loves you only if you are pole thin and starve yourself, then that's not love, and who the fck wants a guy like that? I certainly don't.

That's usually a case. I heard an overweight pop star say he disapproved of overweight women and when the interviewer told him he was also overweight he said "I can be fat, I'm a man, a woman should be thin". A**hole.

Not true, breast weight is hard to shed. I'm a healthy weight but my chest is huge. I can't say I agree with what the shoppers did but a lot of those girls need to lose weight for their own health.

How is this motivating anybody to be healthy? It's purely schoolboy fantasy photoshop work - funny how the breasts all seem to stay the same size or enlarge as the rest of the body reduces so far down to be unhealthy. Also the positioning of legs, waists and hips is fairly bizarre. A fun private project maybe, but not one to share and promote to sensible human beings - particularly on copyrighted images

I think the title of this article is misleading. It should be Facebook Group Photoshops Plus-Sized Women badly To ‘Inspire’ Them To Lose Weight and to body shame them. People need to face up to the fact that we are all different shapes and sizes we are not built from the same mold. If you don't like big women then don't look at us, don't talk to us, and don't Photoshop us! I sure as f**k don't Photoshop anorexic skinny bitches into holding a f*****g sandwich to "inspire" them to f*****g eat something. So why is it OK for them to "inspire" a big girl into doing anything?

All the time I hear people that have never confronted with weight problems saying that fat people lack discipline and that they're just lazy and guilty for the way they are. Truth is, the kind of discipline that you need to lose weight is like the army. You follow strict rules and plans all the time and if you don't, you face the consequences; the psychological stress is huge due to the fact that you're depriving your body and make it do hard work-outs. Are the fat shaming people so disciplined that they can put others down for not being so, or are they just blessed with better genetics or a life that doesn't make them fell so hurt that they look for comforting in food? Do they quit smoking easier, do they make their bed every morning, do they avoid procrastinating or are they human as well and have their own weaknesses? I think that if there should be a campain, it should be a fond raising to assist overweight people in their jurney to lose weight, not one to point out at them!

I think being stick-thin like some runway models or as huge as Tess Holliday are 2 extremes NO ONE should be inspired by! However, let us be frank- all the slightly "fatter than average" people I have met have a complex about themselves and strive to lose weight. Please do not start defending Tess and her bravery and bla bla bla! Did you see her "selfies"?! She is just a huger version of Kim Kardashian- attention-hungry whore posting almost-naked bum shots! Some inspiration! Girls like her want the same thing- attention at whatever cost! You want to fight the body standards, do it in a way that will help stop bullying and not by "naked photoshoots"! What she is promoting is "eating as much and whatever you want"- which is far from "healthy"!

Now, as a large woman, I know that overweight can mean unhealthy, but fat and unhealthy are NOT mutually exclusive. That's what bothers me about so many of these campaigns. I know several women who are size 16-20, exercise regularly and eat well. Regardless of whether or not their appearance is socially acceptable or ideal, these women are happy and healthy and you should just keep your damn opinions to yourself. Don't like how their bodies look? Don't make yours lo like that. That is where your right to involvement ends.

The only pic here I slightly appreciate here is the one of Tes - not sure why her morbid obesity was ever glorified in the first place. And the one of Kelly Clarkson? Gimme a break, she just gave birth. The rest are just stupid because who's to say that any woman who loses weight will automatically look like a Victoria's Secret model with a rail-thin waist, big perky boobs and perfectly toned arms & legs?!? This is horrifying. Why don't we take photos of people with birthmarks or missing or deformed limbs and photoshop them to see what they could look like? These photos don't show what these women would look like if they lost weight, they show what they would look like if they were closer to the current beauty ideal. Their bodies would probably not lose weight in that way. Most would have extra skin under their chin, arms, and around their waist. Their breasts would be smaller. Besides all of that stupidity, it's just not ok to use photos that you don't have permission to edit. This is bullying, plain and simple. It's not motivating - it's offensive.

...are you serious? birthmarks or deformed limbs is clearly not a choice, being unhealthily overweight is a choice. It's not anyone's place to say what someone should or shouldn't look like, but at the same time promoting this everyone is beautiful b******t is putting people at risk.

Even if they could lose the weight, they are not going to look like THAT. Skin takes time to shrink, and will never completely snap back. Not to mention losing the weight is the easy part. It's the firming and toning that takes a lot of work. Plus people lose weight in some areas more than others, not uniformly. Way to set unrealistic expectations.

All this did was show that a group of males have little to no knowledge of female anatomy. There’s so many “after” photos where the body is odd and misshapen lmfao wtf. This is so stupid. And with people like Kelly Clarkson who were already thin in the public eye at one point, why do they need your badly photoshopped pictures to motivate them? Misogyny at its finest, folks. Let’s take the authors of these retouched photos and show them what THEY would look like if they hit the gym and got ripped and then had a nicer-sized “you know what.” Because I bet you a million bucks none of them are a “10” either, yet they feel entitled to pick apart women.

This is ridiculous and does nothing for the body positive movement. As a currently plus size woman and former skinny girl...I've always had low self-esteem and issues with my body weight did not change who I am as a person or how I feel on the inside or how I perceive myself. This is horrible this is messed up this isn't inspiration this is I rather you look like this because girls are supposed to be skinny and perfect no one is going to look like the photoshopped girls and be happy the models and the women you see on the left love their bodies and wouldn't change them because they learned to love and embrace their own skin and not to change it because they think it's what everybody else wants... Maybe you should do the same and stop trying to change people to make them look the way you think they should look BECAUSE reality is they won't. Not because they can't but because they are beautiful anyway they look.

MaKayla Spring - "People like you are the reason why I think we should just stop foreign aid totally and completely. If a country invades England or France or whatever or well we should just sit back and let the haters burn." Interesting... you clearly don't understand geopolitics. Not surprising however, most Americans don't. Anyway, I have been to the US multiple times (DC, NY, LA, SF, Miami, SD, and a lot more places), and I'm always amazed by most people's sizes. Just like the the Dutch are clearly the tallest people in the world, Americans are the biggest people in the world. Yes, there's clearly a different standard in the US, compared to the rest of the world. Again, an average sized American is considered "fat" in most other countries in the world. The US has "normalized" being fat. Travel a bit, and you'll see it for yourself. The key here, is to stop lowering society's body weight standards, to make overweight people feel better about themselves...

Bored Panda- I am seriously disgusted with you. I'm not sure. What is the point really? Everybody wants a happy life and that's it. As long as you don't care what other people say about you, you can be happy with yourself. I'm a man and heterosexual. I love women's bodies. I know people don't become models to show off their bodies to people like me but this is what I wanna say: The women on the left look as much beautiful as the photoshopped ones on the right. It really depends on one's taste. I like slim women but I like chubby women even more. I also think chubby women are more cute and have better attitudes. Live happy. Eat, play and have a happy life. People will say what they wanna say. Don't waste your time on thinking over it. Find something else to spend your time and energy on. I wonder why people who try to lose weight (only if it's not life threatening) spend so much time and resources on doing so. Wouldn't it be more yielding if you spent that same amount of time and money on learning something?

As a girl who lost a few clothing sizes of mass quite a few times, I thought the idea itself behind this article is actually pretty good. Most of the overweight people, no matter the degree of overweight, actually do dream of an at least a little bit slimmer body, and it's mostly out of practical reasons - acquiring new clothes, sitting on public chairs etc. I agree many of these women look hot either way and I agree some of these edited photos are quite unrealistic, despite the efforts to be so (yep, I can see their efforts). But then, these are models of their own, they're not some magazine cover models or celebrities. Besides that, the description of the article suggests these are not made without their consent.

Health is the important issue here- so many health problems come from being overwhieght. To be healthy is a personal respons-ability-!!! there are people who love you and want to see you healthy- including yourself. Also, if you want to have children being that overwheight can be very harmful! the pictures of yourself getting healthy- flaunt your progress not your set-backs. So your fat --right now-- still love yourself despite the situation, but work to get healthy. This has a decent message and its courage.

"as many of the photoshopped images are submitted by real users asking to be motivated." These images were submitted and requested by those in the pictures, they wanted to feel motivated, hell I would feel motivated to lose weight if I saw what I'd look like thinner, these woman obviously feel the same, they are not happy with their size and would like to see change to encourage motivation, what's wrong with that? What law says you cant be unhappy about your appearance and wanting to look and feel healthier? I'm a woman and I feel like all these negative comments are uncalled for.

Angela's waist looks too small in the second pic, Viktoria has lost all of her hips and curves, Lena looks totally anorexic in the second photo, and Whitney looks way too thin and cartoonish in the second photo. This society thrives on finding fault with certain members of society for the purpose of propaganda. Everyone doesn't want to be pencil thin; it's not even sexy either. Our media tells us what's sexy and what's not and very thin women are used as a Blue print of what's considered to be sexy. Just maybe one day, we will stop trying to direct other people's traffic and stay in our own lanes and learn to accept and love people as they are.

Hey plz share thisI always wanted to have an athletic body. Therefore, I was stuck in the gym for hours. I’ve been losing weight with this product for 2 months. I've lost almost 30 kg! It was very interesting t o read a similar story. I had no particular reason to lose weight, but when I was a little over 20 I looked in the mirror and saw a FAT WOMAN!!! It was just awful, given that my man weighed only 70 kg! Can you imagine how we looked together...? I believed that herbal medicine would help and started to use it immediately. My boyfriend was very supportive. We ordered the supplement and couldn’t believe our eyes when I lost 5 kg for the first week! I am very glad that I didn’t torture myself with diets, eating porridge with yogurt, etc. Dr.Sandy herbal medicine is my only diet and I won’t believe any other one. Therefore, I advise it to all those who suffer from extra kilos – don’t despair, there is a solution and that solution is Dr.Sandy herbal medicine, That Truly Works Fast, I

Okay, first of all: The people creating these pictures claim they're "inspiring" women to lose weight and showing them "realistic" body expectations. They're completely wrong. I haven't really seen anyone in the comments so far saying this inspired them, nor do I think that any of the results are "realistic." Second of all: These women are beautiful the way they are, and they shouldn't change the way they look for anybody. And third of all: Why is there no pictures of men?

I think it's a good idea for those who want to lose weight and be healthier . No, not all obese ppl are unhealthy , but being 75lbs lighter would help the knees , joints , and give more energy . I'm obese myself and think I'm super cute , but I do want to lose weight and the bonus with that is, to look better in my clothes and give me some extra confidence . I'd love to have this done to a picture of mine so I can see myself in a whole new light , and love it !!! . :)

I also like to comment for all the people worry about the blood pressure of these ladies that some of them do exercise, they are healthy just the way they are, you can look in their instagrams. It's just they accepted their bodies, not even a slim woman has a waist or figure like the photoshopped ones.

I understand the concept and the good intention behind it, as well as the health benefits behind being thinner. But I sort of find it insulting and maybe even discouraging for these woman. When you've been very overweight your body doesn't always bounce back the way you'd like. Regardless of weight and shape, these women are gorgeous!

Did you notice none of them photoshopped the boobs? In Lena Dunhams the even made them bigger. Realistically, when you lose a substantial amount of weight, a ton of it comes from your chest, personal experience. All though I doubt you could call any of this realistic. What they did to these girls was just wrong, if you have a personal opinion about the way someone looks keep it to yourself don't photoshop them and broadcast it for everyone to see, that's just cruel.

Funny, I could picture if this came out in Renaissance Era, the girls on the right would be photo-enhanced to their images on the left. It seems that every period has its own beauty standards, and sadly, beauty is always conditioned somehow, as if you are outside that standard, then you should be conditioned, photoshoped. And by far, our time's beauty standard is the worst. This photos doesn't do anyone good, and I think the perpetrators never mean any good. This photos are the same like telling someone depressed "Jeez, just be happy"... you never know anyone's struggle. Also, these people are trolls, they are bullies at the school backyard, but older and sadder. Never think anything of them beside pity because they have no other meaning in this life than to enjoy others miseries. To these ladies, rock on and slay them with your confidence just like on your (real) photos ;)

We have on the right side the women I would date, and o the left side the results of bad diet and lack of sport. And these are not unrealistic expectations. This is how a normal body looks like (maybe with smaller breast and maybe not in US), it's just the fact that people lost the motivation to look good. The music is telling them that is ok to be fat...the doctors will not say the same thing. And to say that the women in the left are beautiful, they range from overweight to one small step to morbid obisity.

That being said if you are happy with how you look then that is all that matters, and you shouldn't care what others think, regardless if it's positive or negative. When did we all become such massive pussies that we need constant reassurance from everyone that we are beautiful and perfect. Know you are and f**k everyone else. I want to be anonymous in this comment, I'm going to say some things that are socially unacceptable and they shouldn't be. First, I beat a heroin addiction - 5 and a half years clean! - but during the process I gained a lot of weight. I'd always been very thin, so getting fat was shocking to me. I went from >110lbs to about 175, all fat & no muscle. I could barely walk around. A year ago I decided to fix it & I did. I weigh 125 now: 20 pullups, 100 situps, >25min 5k. So there's that. It wasn't easy, it took work - not counting calories. Now, here's the thing: Every woman I've ever dated has gained a lot of weight, and they have all complained about it non-stop. They always complain that their clothes don't fit, they don't want to go out, they don't want to do anything but lay around & eat. I tried to get every single one of them onto just any fitness program imaginable. Everything from riding bikes with me to pole dancing. Nothing ever worked. Why can't people just get in shape?

Amazing way to inspire people(in this case women) to loose some excess weight. I am for healthy life style, and by looking at these pictures, none of the women are healthy weight. Doing some workout and not eating junk food will lead them to the photo-shopped picture on the right. Some people say the photoshopped pictures are unrealistic, maybe, but you will still look much better without excess weight! It is not judging or telling what to do with their bodies, its inspiration. If I was on any of the women's above place, I would like this idea, and I still like it. While working out, I would have the picture on the right of my self in my head, and that would be great motivation. I think there is nothing wrong, and could actually help.

Some of the arms and calves look far too thin, like sticks. Just goes to show that their idea of healthy is unnatural. Yet again unnatural expectations put me off even trying. I don't want to have to diet until I am anorexic. I would just like to get down to a healthy 16(UK) Real women have curves all over.

Tania woods, can I ask you a serious question? You said "real women have curves all over". I dont. I never will. I eat good, not great but I tend to stay on the healthy side. I do basic workouts. Nothing crazy but enough to keep my joints, muscles, heart etc healthy. I do NOT have a beautiful round booty which seems to be all the rage these days, I do NOT have large voluminous breasts, I do NOT have curvaceous hips. Nothin! This is my NATURAL body but yet I'm being told more and more everyday by society that I should feel bad about it. That should be ashamed because I'm not carrying extra weight. Why does it take putting down one group of people to make another feel better? So my question to you is if I am to take your wording literally, do you not think I am a real women because I don't have curves???

I do not usually post comments, but this time I made an account just because I got tired of seeing people say "oh it's their decision ... let them be". How many fat/obese people do you know? How many of them you do consider friends? Did you talk with them to see their view on their situation? And it's not just about women... it's also about men that have larger breasts than me. I am against photo-shopping without consent, but with it I see absolutely no problem in making a point (maybe if you can't motivate yourself, maybe we can by showing you a possible outcome of a diet). From my point of view those who are against have their own frustrations or maybe are in the same situation and embrace the easy way out: "It's a free world ... we do what we want" a.k.a biggest lie ever. P.S. The breast were re-sized correctly... and if you don't know s**t about human anatomy and fat deposits you shouldn't criticize the photoshoppers.

Why is everyone so hurt by this? I've been heavy and I've been slim. If someone feels bad about the way they look it's a psychological issue. They either learn to get over it and ignore the people who belittle them or they let them win. Whose any one to judge another, really? Also to all those hurt the intention matters more. Maybe this seems insensitive to you but how many times have you hurt someone with good intentions? Intentions matter so stop finding something to be distraught about and find something worth being upset over.

I think this is just a reaction to the politically correct trend of promoting "plus-sized" (whatever the hell that means) women as opposed to "standard" (whatever the hell that means) skinny models. I don't want to tell anyone how he/she is supposed to look like, because it's their business, but I expect people to also stop telling me that having more weight is better and that there's something wrong with slim looks. I think this photoshop group's actions are a bad way to make a statement, but I kinda see where this is coming from.

I'm not sure. What's the point really? I'm a man and I love women. I know people don't become models to show off their bodies to men. They do it for a living but this I wanna say this anyway: I think the women on the left are as much beautiful as the photo-shopped ones on the right. I love `em. I believe chubby women are cute and have better attitudes than slim ones. I don't want to insult anyone but I encourage people to observe this for a while. Chubby women are more open than slim ones. One more thing. Why the hell do people obsess over these things? Why do they not spend the same amount of time, energy and resources they spend on losing weight, on something more useful? Wouldn't it be more yielding if you did the same with learning something? Live your life, eat, play and be happy. Don't even think about wasting your time on what other people say about you and your body. It's not worth it.

I think some of these women look much better with the photoshopped look but some pictures are just going too far. Lena Dunham looks like she starved and threw up every meal in the photoshopped photo. Sorry, but Lena Dunham looks much more beautiful and healthier in the "Before" Photoshop picture. I am pro fitness and a healthy lifestyle but some of these pictures show bodies that are too skinny and definitely not depicting the real people there. People with big bodies will never achieve the body mass of a runway haute couture model, so some of these pictures are just not real and a fake motivation (Lena Dunham, lady at the beach) The one I liked the most is the girl in the yellow tshirt. She looks lovely with the "new look". Curvy, yet not plumpy. I loved that change because IT'S REAL. So I would suggest you encourage bodies these women can achieve and not some skinny body that does not depict what that person's body mass can reach.

As a young girl I had an extreme eating disorder, terrible body image, zero self esteem...and a tremendous amount of self hate because of the messages from my parents and classmates about my obesity. At 5foot2 weighing 200 pounds, I was a big little girl. This hoto shopping me skinny would not me a motivator for me. It would be a reminder of what I was not and a blatant reminder of how incapable I was at that time of understanding my emotions and the underlying hurt that kept me trapped inside my body. Thats just me...

I used to be overweight as a young woman. Like 200 pounds at 5ft 2. When I saw this article it left me feeling uncomfortable and agitated. There are many reasons why people are overweight. I am not here to get into that, but I can tell you if someone photo shopped me when I was a young girl with a severe eating disorder and extremely overweight, with incredible low self esteem, and I saw myslef looking all svelt...it most likey would have sent me into a wave of depression and self hate. Not motivational or inspirational at all. Just saying

There's all kinds of problems with doing this. First thing, some of these altered images aren't even based in reality, most of the boobs are kept the same size while everything is shrunk much more. But the worst part is, there can be a lot of reasons for weight troubles. I used to be a fit person, but I have degenerative joints which have led to frequent injuries that prevent me from exercising the majority of the time while I'm on the mend. It's incredibly painful to not be the weight I want and feel healthy, but I simply physically cannot burn enough calories to lose weight when I cannot move around to exercise. I've managed to stave off obesity by restricting my diet, but it's miserable. So please don't assume we all just need 'motivation'.

When I'm even 10 lbs over my healthy weight, I feel slow, inflexible and get tired faster. This is not a judgment of the way someone looks but about health. The photos are actually irrelevant to the issue. It seems to me that judging anyone by their physical appearance is shallow and demeaning. The photos of these women are a reflection of this social conscience attitude.

Whitney Way Thore cannot lose weight. She has a condition. Her photoshopped picture is absolutely bizarre looking. This is beside the point--there are no men depicted here yet men are statistically more likely to be obese. Women are the targets of these websites just as they are the targets of dieting campaigns (a multimillion dollar industry that makes dieters fatter). Men are more likely to die of complications due to obesity, and to die of heart attacks and strokes--yet women are chastised for their weight and are told they don't have the self control to lose weight, and, of course, that being fat puts their lives at risk. Society feels it has the right to ridicule women's bodies. Dieting is very dangerous to health; gastric bypasses are deadly and have a myriad of horrible side-effects. The number of women who put their lives at risk to have those operations far outnumber the men because society condemns women who don't conform.

This is clearly pro-ana masquerading (as it often does) as a concern for "health." In most of the altered images the models looks sick and have no muscle tone at all. Those doing the photo-shopping are either unskilled or just couldn't resist projecting their real desires which is an emaciated body. I always thinks it's funny how those that blather on about the lack of self-control of fat people never have the self-control to shut up and listen and/or actually be of service. Giving your opinion is rarely anything but self-indulgent.

You honestly don't think there was photoshopping in the 'before' pics as well: cellulite removed, chin and neck fat made slimmer and veins that are ready to pop since they are pushed closer to the surface of the skin ... Of course the usual haters of healthy eating and exercising come here to downvote any comment they deem not PC, of course those idiots also believe Michael Brown actually had his hands up and said 'don't shoot'. ...

Some inspiration! Girls like her want the same thing- attention at whatever cost! You want to fight the body standards, do it in a way that will help stop bullying and not by "naked photoshoots"! What she is promoting is "eating as much and whatever you want"- which is far from "healthy"!

At the age of 22 I was 41 kilos (...height 163 cm). Well... That was much worse than being "oversized", believe me. I tried so hard to gain any weight, I looked like s**t, felt like s**t. So quit that BS about "the motivation of losing weight" and let people live and feel the way they wanna. F**k you people. Now I am 65 kilos and feel great and healthy and everyone says I look much better. So f**k ya again and f**k those cheap stereotypes.

Dumb.

It is not body shaming to edit a model to a certain ideal proportion. These women were picked because they are beautiful with their curves, and they look even better with a mild weight drop.

Loving myself has been a struggle since I was a preteen, thanks to society. www.chubbymannequin.com

Some of the photoedited pics are pretty awesome, but on most of them you can see that something is off. That's because if you want to photoshop nicely/draw a body anew, you have to know human anatomy very well.

So sick of all this, 'it's okay to be overweight' b******t. It is not, it's unhealthy. That being said if you are happy with how you look then that is all that matters, and you shouldn't care what others think, regardless if it's positive or negative. When did we all become such massive pussies that we need constant reassurance from everyone that we are beautiful and perfect. Know you are and f**k everyone else. God f*****g damn this s**t pisses me off, have some confidence you f*****g twats.

I am not here to get into that, but I can tell you if someone photo shopped me when I was a young girl with a severe eating disorder and extremely overweight, with incredible low self esteem, and I saw myslef looking all svelt...it most likey would have sent me into a wave of depression and self hate.

Giving your opinion is rarely anything but self-indulgent.

i don't see anything wrong with the original pictures , i so sick of pro anorexia/bulimia websites preaching and daring to take this women pictures without consent and "shaming" them they all look beautiful in the way that they are. his people should mind they own business and stop telling people to eat or not.

Some of those people I wouldn't even consider plus-size! Cool idea though, I guess.

Je ne sais absolument quoi en penser. Quel est le but déjà ? Encourager à perdre du poids pour quoi ? Être belle ? Tout est question de point de vue.

I think this is a scandal! some look even wurse than before. It would be a sad world where every women has the same size! OK some kind off overweight is dangerous but some people are just made to be round, soft and sexy!

Candace Lovejoy... Here, read, "The Reddit site appears to be slightly less aggressive in its aims, as many of the photoshopped images are submitted by real users asking to be motivated." You dimwitted c*nt.

I agree with Candace Lovejoy, who's to say skinny is beautiful? These women look great before the photoshop! Don't push c**p ideals on to others!

Where are the rib cages? Obesity is bad for health but how can anyone be well without rib cages? Bad photoshop. And there must be outlaw to edit somebody photo when they don't allow you to.

This is terrible in so many levels... That 'group' should get a life. Most of this women show that they have confidence about themselves as they are!

I like how none of the photos consider what massive weight loos would ACTUALLY look like. It's complete b******t that they are claiming to try to motive these women. If you lost enough weight to look that skinny, you wouldn't actually look that skinny or be shaped like that-at least not without a lot of reconstructive surgery. This whole idea came from a place of cruelty and they are trying to spin t like it isn't just bullying.

Horrific idea. Photoshop is a huge problem for this country and anyone thinks that photoshopping perfectly gorgeous women is a good thing?? Cut the s**t!!! The "now" all look better than the photoshopped c**p. REAL WOMEN ARE BEAUTUFUL!!!

They ARE beautiful women already, this continued trend of shaming women's bodies is going above and beyond in its hypocrisy and hate. It needs to stop, now.

Wow- take a look at those stick thin arms hanging limply there? You know what it lacks? Life. This shows exactly what is wrong with this media induced, body shaming and objectification of women. Bored Panda- I am seriously disgusted with you. Somebody takes your body and reduces it to what he or she thinks is acceptable (mirroring her/his own body objectifying conditioning) and you just publish this s**t? You see women reduced to nothing more than a narrow waist and stick legs- and oh yes some boobs n bums (cant chuck that can we) and its give your stamp of approval. Get a life suckers.

WTF. These women are BEAUTIFUL THEY WAY THEY ARE. There's just nothing like yet MORE f*cking idiots (most currently the ones at “Project Harpoon” and ThInnerBeauty) encouraging not only unrealistic goals and expectations, but outright shaming and socially brainwashing more of America's females. Hey, Project Harpoon, ThinnerBeauty, and all of the rest of you gits out there: QUIT telling women (hell, quit telling everybody!) what to do with themselves and their lives! Get your own REAL lives, you hopelessly shallow, self-centered, deluded excuses for human beings. If any female (or anyONE) wants to lose weight, it should be for their health and especially FOR THEMSELVES, not for the sake of others who would judge them. Sweet jheebuz; these gits are yet another reason for me to continue to have very little faith in 9/10ths of 'humanity.' >.<

When you label your "movement" Project HARPOON, you don't get to say you're "not trying to fat shame" with a straight face. Also, do they think that people lack the brain power to imagine themselves looking different from what they currently see? We all do that - hair, makeup, weight, piercings, tats, etc. No one needs these goat-blowing assclowns to "inspire" them to change their looks. Get f****d.

A few of those look just plain UNHEALTHY. I mean, so thin and anorexic that I would be afraid of being injured should I be unfortunate enough to bump into them. To quoth Freddie Mercury "Gimme those lardy ladies every time..." ;-)

They may be happy. Consider this. Everyone seems concerned about other people weight. Are you as concerned about people smoking, drinking or eating s*** even if they don't get fat?

I noticed how all of them magically keep their breasts or they grow?? Lena didn't have any before and magically after losing weight they're huge? Whenever I lose weight mine are the first to go, that page is BS. I'm so glad they got rid of it. These women already have the confidence they need to handle themselves and the support to follow. What kind of page is "truly to motivate them" when they seem plenty motivated with great careers already? Many of the bodies were contorted to look like the typical barbie mess. Makes me sick for some fb page to step in and take women who are happy with their looks and confident in themselves and try to ruin that. I bet the creators haven't been laid in years

I am an over weight woman, yes there are times where i wish i was a few pounds smaller, but who is anyone to tell ME what to do about MY body? I am a healthy person with no illnesses, i dont need pills to keep me living. I have family members that are "average weight" who are unhealthy. So what. If u dont like it close ur eyes and go fall off a cliff. No one has any right to tell somone what they should look like. Ur all a bunch of bullies.

Disgusting, some of those women look perfectly fine "before", their after pics look horrid. If someone looks in the mirror and doesn't like what they see and decide to do something about it for them self that's great! Having someone take your picture and show you how much "better" you can be if you lived by their standards is another. Shame on these people.

LoL... I honestly don't know why the typical politically correct crowd gets bent out of shape as usual [full pun intended] ... You honestly don't think there was photoshopping in the 'before' pics as well: cellulite removed, chin and neck fat made slimmer and veins that are ready to pop since they are pushed closer to the surface of the skin ... Of course the usual haters of healthy eating and exercising come here to downvote any comment they deem not PC, of course those idiots also believe Michael Brown actually had his hands up and said 'don't shoot'. ... I now welcome your down arrows as the more I have the more correct I am.
