Pitties And Pj’s

As a pet photographer, I have the good fortune to meet a lot of wonderful dogs. Some are purebred and some are mutts, but I love each and everyone so much. Now, if I had to answer what kind of dog I am most endeared to, I would have to say, hands down, that it would be a Pit Bull! They never cease to make me laugh while working and playing with them. They are fun, rambunctious, full of energy, and absolutely thrilled by smiles and kisses.

For years Pit Bulls have had a bad stigma placed upon them. The media reinforces this idea by focusing their reporting on Pit Bull attacks, in order to boost their ratings, when in reality, Bully breeds are just loyal, loving, family-friendly dogs who have been misunderstood for way too long and thus labeled as “aggressive”. While it is a known fact that dogs may bite, it needs to be noted that this is a statement applicable to all dog breeds.

Many people may not realize that Pit Bulls are not a breed and there are several types of dogs that are in this same category and 75% of mixed breed dogs in animal shelters, and misidentified as the wrong breed.

Here are just a few known facts about Bullies:

In the 1900s, Pit Bulls were known as “Nanny Dogs” and were the breed of choice among parents as they felt their kids would be safe with these dogs around.

Pitties were originally bred as livestock dogs, trained to drive and catch livestock, and to serve as the ideal faculty companion. Given their extremely friendly personality, they were eliminated from becoming guard dogs.

Bullies actually rank high among the most affectionate dog breeds and are one of the least aggressive dogs.

I recently had the opportunity to work on a really fun project I called “Pitties and PJ’s”. Many different types of Pit Bulls and mixes were invited to my photography studio right outside of Denver, Colorado where they were dressed up in pajamas. These dogs had a blast and loved every minute of the party. I have never seen any other bread that would enjoy hanging out in Pj’s that much, let alone sit still long enough to be dressed up. They just adore being doted on.

I simply cannot get enough of the Bully Breeds!!!

My name is Sabina . . . just like Sabrina without the “r.” I was born and raised in Poland during the era when we had to stand in line just to buy toilet paper. I enjoyed my life there until 2001 when I became part of an Au Pair Program, bringing me to my new life in the United States. For me, though I earned the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Protection Engineering, it was just never my calling. Photography and animals have always been my passions. As a small child, I was fascinated with my father’s old Russian 35mm camera and the mysteries behind taking a moment and holding it forever in a photograph. In 2004 I  finally began my journey into the world of capturing special moments to be treasured forever.
