The Backside Of This Rare Spider Looks Like Pikachu From Your Nightmares
This little spider might be the inspiration behind the famous animated character Pikachu.
Micrathena Sagittata, also known as the arrow-shaped Micrathena, is a unique-looking spider with a distinctive arrow-shaped abdomen. It is mainly bright yellow, with black lengthenings at the end and sometimes with red and black patterning.
This beautiful creature fascinated National Geographic explorer Jonathan Kolby, who came across the specimen while conducting research in the jungles of Honduras.
It was the first time he saw Micrathena Sagittata so he was quick to document the unique beauty of the spider.

Share on FacebookWell, I'll be..... I have one of these on my back porch, right above the outside light. I was going to remove it, but noticed the unique shape of the little lady residing there. She has a different color arrangement than this one, but there is still yellow and red on her abdomen. When the back light is on, she is able to catch a good number of flying insects attracted to the light.
I guess I was right, they don't just live in the jungles of Honduras. They also live in the Eastern US. Here's a map of their range in the US. Micrathena...67db74.png
