The Muttcracker: Ballet Dancers Dance With Dogs And Cats Who Are Waiting To Get Adopted (50 Pics)
The Dancers & Dogs project started suddenly when the photographer pair Kelly Pratt and Ian Kreidich had to photograph dancers and dogs. The couple works for the ballet company Saint Louis Ballet and travels the United States photographing dancers in rehearsals for performances. Launched in 2017, they would never have imagined that the project would become the success it is today, with more than 110 thousand followers on Instagram and a book launched.
They have recently launched a project called Muttcracker, where St. Louis Ballet dancers are photographed with shelter dogs (and cats) that are up for adoption! This is a popular project that was carried out in the last 3 years.
And here's what the authors told Bored Panda: "Muttcracker is our fun take on the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. Muttcracker started in 2018 as a side project to our popular Dancers & Dogs photo project, which was published here as well. This is the third year in a row that we have partnered with St. Louis Ballet and Stray Rescue of St. Louis. "

"The dancers from St. Louis Ballet dress in costumes from their production The Nutcracker and pose with animals (dogs and cats) up for adoption from Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Images and videos will be released daily on our social media today (Nov. 18th) through Christmas. We felt that we just had to continue Muttcracker in 2020 since so many people have had a hard time this year and need to experience a little joy. This project has been trendy and has been featured in People Magazine, Fox news affiliates, The Hallmark Channel, Dance Magazine, and all other Dance Media outlets. And the best news is that we have been 100% successful in helping the animals find homes! Stray Rescue of St. Louis is dedicated to saving all animals, no matter their condition or background. Some of these cats and dogs come from very desperate situations, including being abused, malnourished, and even shot."

"This year they have taken in more animals than ever, not only from the St. Louis area but also from surrounding states and even some Caribbean islands. We love showing these animals, that were once on the streets and un-cared for, in such a sweet, loving, and whimsical light. The dancers from St. Louis Ballet have been so amazing to volunteer their time to help these animals find loving homes. Susan Erhart, the Wardrobe Master from St. Louis Ballet, also takes time out of her schedule to do early costume fittings with the dancers and uses her beautiful costumes for this project."

It really isn’t, this is something dancers work on from day 1its called your turnout and its just turning your hip out. That being said don't just go and try doing this, without practice and without knowing what your doing you could end up seriously injured

One has to wonder if any of the dancers fell in love with and adopted any of the animals they posed with. I mean, I couldn’t do it without wanting to take the whole kit and kaboodle home with me.
