Growing up in the beautiful country of Switzerland, I never really was into nature photography. I was almost blind to the beauty that I called home. Somehow I always knew I would move somewhere else one day. I always felt drawn to the Nordic countries and Iceland was on my "want to visit one-day" list.

At one point my boyfriend and I decided to go and visit Iceland for a month and see if it could potentially be our new home. We immediately fell in love with the raw and moody landscapes. And the rest is history! As soon as we got back, we sold all of our stuff, became minimalists, quit our jobs and moved to Iceland.

Fascinated by details and minimalism, I am found most of my spare time capturing the atmospheric landscapes of Iceland. Here are a few pictures I've taken so far! Enjoy.

I've been living in Iceland for a bit more than 4 years now, and I do not regret it even a little bit. Since moving here I started my own multi-media company which is called Caldera Studios. Where I shoot products for mainly skincare brands on location and in my home studio. This is something I would have never dared to do living in Switzerland because you just get too comfortable in a "normal" environment.

Its On my bucket list of places to visit, and very high on that list for that matter.

Stunning and very well composed photograph. It looks like an illustration out of Lord of the Rings.

Something that often is forgotten, is the amount of time that goes into each shot. There's a lot of traveling and preparation involved behind the scenes, which you don't often get to see. More than often I went on beautiful trips but came back home empty-handed because of the quality of light or weather conditions. The editing process can also take a lot of time, sometimes it's a quick edit and it's "perfect", but every so often it takes many hours behind the screen to match my vision with the image.

Photography is a big part of me and a form of self-expression, which is a big factor why I am still in love with it. What really keeps me going is the joy photography brings me, and how it helps me to get out of my head so I can solely focus on the moment I want to capture.

My favorite shot always changes depending on my mood, but at the moment I really enjoy the one with a house furthest away from the camera, here. I took that photo about 2 years ago on a sunny day in late autumn, the daylight was already getting scarce and this was one of those days where I thought I wouldn't get any good shots because of the harsh light. Right after we decided to drive back home the light became super soft and glowy so we stopped in the middle of the road to capture it.

The most challenging part about photography is keeping up and trying to be the best yourself while maintaining good quality, especially on social media. Where the value of a single shot isn't really valued much anymore and just lasts a mere second and a quick like.

When I was in school we had an exchange student from, I think, Germany. She shared some pictures of her travels and stuff from home. It was the first time I saw a real photograph of snow on a beach. My first thought was "It snows at the beach?" I'm from Southern California, and, yup, I was sheltered. I didn't think about the fact that it snows up north on the coast on both sides of my own country. Don't know what I thought the white stuff on the coast of Alaska was... 🤦‍♀️

I think that this is Crystal Beach, some kilometers to the east from Vik Myrdal. regrettably we missed it.

“It’s okay I’m going home now, be okay tonight. I just want to be alone now, in the darkened light. That’s my favorite color blue there as the sun sets in the sky. There’s just something in the hue there, in the corner of my eye. In the darkened light, in the blue and white.” ~Beth Waters

I can’t stop looking at this one—the subtlety is positively captivating.

I may be crazy, however, there's something very meditative in the water and shoreline photos! I can look at this photo and see things in the water.
