I challenged myself to photograph 30 different sisters in 30 days! I wanted to document the bond between sisters. I wanted to show the similarities and differences sisters can have, physically and in their personalities.

I documented the relationship between all the different sisters and here's what is clear... They say that blood is thicker than water, and there is no bond quite like the one between sisters. From the time they are born, they share everything: their parents' love, their genes, their bedroom. They grow up sharing secrets, dreams, vacations, laughter, and tears. They are each other's confidantes and partners in crime. No matter what happens, they know that they can always rely on each other. They may fight like cats and dogs at times, but in the end, their bond is unbreakable. Because they are sisters. And that's what sisters do. They love each other unconditionally, through good times and bad. They are there for each other, no matter what. And that's what makes the bond between sisters so special. It's irreplaceable.

You can see each of the sisters' stories on my Instagram account. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

The colors in this one are so beautiful! And these sisters are gorgeous. Their eyes (especially the older one's) are so expressive. I wish I were this photogenic...

My journey of photographing 30 different sisters over 30 days was birthed from my love for learning and challenging myself. I wanted to delve into the stories that lay behind the relationships of sisters, to uncover the thread that ties them together. The project, a leap into the unknown, would eventually prove to be as rewarding as it was challenging.

As I ventured from one family to another, I was welcomed into an array of unique stories. Each family, every pair of sisters, brought their own experiences and stories to the canvas. The richness of these interactions was not confined to the families themselves; my audience on social media became an integral part of this journey. I'd present them with two images of each pair of sisters and let them pick their favorite. The engagement I received was astounding. Their involvement brought a new dimension to this journey, making it even more memorable.

The challenge was not just in capturing the images, but also in highlighting both the similarities and differences between the sisters. Aided by the inputs from the parents and the sisters themselves, I carefully chose their attires and poses. Each photo was a testament to their unique styles and personalities, while also reflecting their similarities.

Yellow tee is holding in a laugh; white tee is in on it and pink tee thinks they’re being silly. Or not.

The older sister looks so kind and loving. She seems like a great person for the little sister to grow up with.

As the project progressed, an unexpected theme surfaced – an unbreakable “bond”. It was the foundation of all relationships I photographed, an underlying theme that transcended their differences. Regardless of the differences, the sisters communicated their bond with profound clarity.

Reflecting on this project, I realize how much it deepened my understanding of the bond between sisters. The bond that exists between sisters was evident in every photograph, in every story. Regardless of age, all sisters shared a profound commitment to each other, expressing that they would do anything for one another. This project was not just about capturing images; it was a journey into the essence of sisterhood, an exploration of a bond that is both intricate and strong.

Erica and Lacey are two sisters who are very close to each other. They are both creative but in different ways. Erica is a hard core hip hop dancer while Lacey is a graceful contemporary dancer. They love and support each other's talents. Erica is creative as a makeup artist and Lacey is creative with her writing and just published her first children's book! They are each others' number one fan and they are always there for one another...

Being only four years apart, both born on February 17th, these sisters haven't always been close. They spent their childhood hating each other, but as they got older, the learned to value their relationship. They played on the same hockey team. They were there for each other when they moved into their college dorms and first houses. And when one sister needed a prom dress, the other was happy to share hers. That's the kind of bond that sisters have. A bond that is built on trust and shared experiences. A bond that makes them protectors of each other's heart.

Heidi and Heather have always been close, but in recent years their bond has only grown stronger. 2 years ago, they decided to start a small crafting business called Seasonal Sisters. The business was a way for them to spend more time together, and it quickly became one of their favourite things to do. Every time they get together, they have so much fun. It's not about the money for them; it's about the time they get to spend together. Their bond is unbreakable, and they love each other more than anything in the world.

When I see this pose I see myself wanting not to be imprisoned overwhelmed by my bigger sister who's aware of herself posing pretending when what she really wants is for you not to exist . Some sisters hate each other

These girls look so fun - like they would know the best coffee shop in town, the best week in the year for wildflower picking, the best swimming spots…
