How come the m&ms in the photo are sorted by colour and the ones on the explanation are not?

Um, no. The first one, the M&M's are arranged in rainbow colours. The second, they are all mixed.

Strange how in the final shot the M&Ms are lined up by color. However they're all mixed up in the bowl.

Not the real picture... the M&M in the water droplets are color sequence like the rainbow... The M&Ms in the bowl in the second picture are all mixed up

Candy on the first photo is sorted by color, on the second picture it is a mess. Also the water drops are not the same.. I would like to see real photo taken on the second one

why the 1st photo has a very organized set of colors of M&Ms when the 2nd photo has a messy M&Ms arrangement, what happened to the reflection?

the pics don't match up ... the m&ms in top pic were in a rainbow, and the m&ms in bottom pic are mixed up

I'm missing something. The droplets in the top photo show the M&Ms organized by colour but the bowl is scattered. Is the bottom photo just showing the technique?

Amazing how the all look by colors in the photo... Then you look at the behind the scene... All mixed up. The magic of photography :P

I think those are SKITTLES in the top photo. And while they don't match up exactly, they are showing how the photo on to was done.

Don't believe this one at all... the m&md are mixed up in the bowl, how can they be side by side in color??

Kristi Marie

Not serious. The m&ms in the bowl aren't sorted as the ones above are.

I don't believe that this is actually how the first picture was shot: the water drops are much too regular and the M&Ms are sorted by colour

There's something weird about this one, which makes me doubt the validity of the others. In the closeup shot, the "m&ms" are arranged in rows, by color. In the shot that shows the setup for this shot, the m&ms are all mixed up. No organized color by row. So, what gives?

Not possible, the m&ms inthe droplets are arranged in lines, those in the bowl are all mixed up

Not the same. The candies are arranged in a rainbow pattern in the original and are most likely skittles since there are no purple M&Ms

That is not the same bowl of M&Ms. Notice how the ones in the top picture are all lined up in rows according to color. The ones in the bottom picture are all mixed together.

How many people who commented here DO NOT UNDERSTAND the photographer probably experimented with several different arrangements and perhaps even different objects before the top pic came about. The bottom pic is just an example of how it was done. Geez

Yeah, no. I think it's safe to say these aren't from the same shoot based on the way the "rainbow" effect of the candy isn't reflected in the mixed candy bowl in the second shot.

I have done some waterdrop photography - the 2 pics is not taken from the same bowl of M&M's, but if you take a photo on the second one, it will look like on the first, except the sorting.

There's no way that's the same picture... There are too many differences. Not saying that wasn't how it was done but it's not the same.

Same idea as how the shot could have been taken, but obviously not the actual shot that resulted from that photograph. Notice how the shot has no brown in the droplets: they are skittles not M&Ms. And how the candies are arranged in a pattern inside the droplets but in the "behind the scenes" picture the candies are random in the bowl. -_- If people are going to make things like this, they should be accurate.

The m&ms in the bowl are mixed up, but the ones in the top photos are arranged neatly. I'm guessing same technique, different times? Still very awesome.

i'm going to say the top is actually just digital art and the bottom is made to look like what they did.
