My name is Matt Burgess and I am an ocean photographer from Australia. Do you remember my last post from 2017?
Here is the collection of my favorite images that I captured in 2018. All these images were captured in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia.
The ocean is a magical place for many people. To me, it's a special place where I find peace amongst the chaos.

Two waves meet to create a swan-like appearance.
A perfect day in the shore break.
The sun rises on another beautiful day.
A wave launches into the air on sunrise in Victoria, Australia.
Pink sky in the morning, sailors warning.
A beautiful sunrise and glassy waves are my favorite things to capture.
The spray from a large wave makes a rainbow effect with strong offshore winds.
I can't decide which one is my favourite, they're all absolutely stunning!!!
A wave takes on the appearance of a snow-capped mountain.
These are all so good!! Great job! I don't know how you captured some of these. I love the water, especially the ocean. Very beautiful shots!
These photos are fabulous! Water is amazing stuff, and being able to capture the play of light on water, the different moods of sky and sea, it's truly amazing. You should consider selling a calendar of some of these, the way Clark Little does. I'd buy it!
Absolutely stunning natural beauty, showcased by someone with an incredible eye & talent! I live on the Lincolnshire coast in the UK (North Sea) & often fail to appreciate the beauty of the place I live in. It can be easy to overlook when the sea is having a brown day or I am feeling blue myself, but posts & images like this give me a renewed appreciation of it. I hope you appreciate on your off days (we all have them) that you do an incredibly important thing by bringing beauty, inspiration & maybe a little happiness & light into the lives of others! Never under value that!
I absolutely love that you often drag the shutter, and that you didn't over sharpen on the ones that are crisp. These are f*****g outstanding. I can't imagine how many shutter clicks you've put on your camera in the last year doing this. What a treat it must be to review your images and find those gems at the end of the day. You've definitely inspired me to up my game when shooting near water.
Matt, you are an astonishing talent. These photos are totally changing my sense of the world, and heaping wonder upon wonder. Completely in awe, and so grateful for what you have shown me.
these are really breathtaking! You did such a good job. Where were these photos taken?
Stunning. I want a print of #2. At the risk of sounding cheesy, it speaks to me. I used to live in San Diego and surf. I love on the east coast now, in Philadelphia. It reminds me of home.
Amazing photos. The're breathtakingly beautiful. On some of them the water looks like glas, chrystal or diamonds. I love it. On some of the waves I keep expecting to see surfers
Beautiful and dramatic mages. I love the effect of the light and the waves
Thanks from a wave junkie stranded miles away from an ocean. My only complaint, no sound track.
These amazing pics should be framed and sold for peoples walls or put in galleries
