Russia, for many, is a very interesting country full of unique traditions, situations, and even people. It seems like they live in a different reality and that's why it's almost always interesting to see glimpses of their everyday lives. Sergey Kolyaskin gives us just that with his wonderfully weird photographs.
This Russian photographer captures the life of people in his own country. His photographs portray the beauty, simplicity, and uniqueness of living in Russia. Sergey is a very creative person and has held 15 solo exhibitions, published 2 albums, and participated in all sorts of contests. He has his own photography school and travels all over the world with his camera in hand. Sergey mentioned on his website: "I don't like specializing in any particular genre. I like to shoot life in all its manifestations."

For some context... I am from Russia, actually. I was adopted(but barely spent any time there) and I never really connected with my biological mother. I’ve never been really sad about it but I am interested in finding her. She was not married, but she was a good mother. Some mothers in Russia (plz don’t downvote me) drink and smoke when they are pregnant but she didn’t. She took care of us very well. She was very poor tho so what happened is the government took us (yes I have a ferternal twin and it’s mango 🥭 😃) and now I’m here! There ya go!
Sergey Kolyaskin is a member of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia and of the Russian Geographical Society. He was born in Zlatoust, which is a city in the Southern Urals. He started to become greatly interested in 1999 when he was just 13 years old. From then on, he could not be separated from his camera.

Sergey has won many awards over his career. He even makes movies and is a director and cameraman on set. He is a man of many talents and rewards. Sergey is recognized by many as a great photographer; although he doesn't have many followers, his work and achievements speak for themselves.

Any high school. This is called "Last school bell day". Schools typically have it when this year's graduates stop studying and begin revision for graduation exams. Sexualised versions of the school uniform are a (somewhat controversial) tradition on the part of graduates themselves.

These used to be regular school uniform back in the USSR. There's a tradition in Russia to wear it for graduation. Shortened of course :)

This photo amazes me! I'm fully dressed, fuzzy slippers on, heater set to 71*F and sitting here feeling SO cold here in California! How does he even walk in that weather with hardly any clothes on? He's waaay tougher than I am!!

Almost - it's an R-1 (Object 8-A-11), which is basically a copy of the V1 made by the soviet OKB-1 design bureau (today RSC Energia). Both the USSR and the US captured examples of the V1 and documentation at the end of the war, so, understandably, their first rockets were either direct copies of the V1 or derivatives.

As she strolled, almost skipping, she looked around. The abandoned buildings and such. She marveled at them. What were they like before? She imagined what it must’ve been like before. The streets were rocky and wet, like gravel after a thunderstorm. It was a wonderful time to walk nonetheless. She was of a smiling composition. The wind, blowing her hair wildly. Her lips, cherry red. She was always skipping.

Concrete panel apartment blocks (sometimes called "Khrushchyovka") - quick and cheap to build in large numbers, but with notoriously poor insulation. Cold like an ice block in the winter, hot like a furnace in the summer. (And I know this because my grandma & grandpa live in such a place)
