When you love your furry friend so much, it’s sometimes hard to notice their flaws. But when your doggo jumps on your friends, knocks kids down out of excitement, barks at you when you’re clearly not into games and everything, and your catto has been scratching your bedroom doors and meowing every night for so long that you have forgotten the last time you had a good night’s sleep, you may have a teeny tiny bit of a problem.
You see, sometimes it happens that dogs and cats forget their hoomans have personal space. They'd be glued to you forever, if it was up to them. Both totally wholesome and slightly annoying, these incidents happen more often than you think.
Below we selected some of the funniest pictures of felines and canines shamelessly disrespecting their owner’s private space as if they had none to begin with. Scroll down, upvote your favorite ones and be sure to check out our previous features on pets with zero boundaries here and here.

Taking A Bath, When I'm Home "Alone"
Personal Space? Nope. I'm A Cat Pillow
I Was Trying To Enjoy A Nice Bath, But
enjoying a nice bath is never complete without some fur and fur-bearer in it!
To find out more about why exactly some cats or dogs don’t respect their owners' privacy and what can be done about this, Bored Panda reached out to Yulia Popyk, a pet health and well being expert at Pet Cube. One of the key ways to tell if your dog or cat doesn't respect your privacy is if they have a tendency to follow you around everywhere you go in the house, Popyk said.
So beware if your dog is always underfoot, “it may be an indication that they don’t respect your need for personal space,” she warned.
“Another way to tell if your dog respects your privacy is if they are constantly trying to sneak into your bedroom or other private areas of the house. If your dog is always trying to sneak into your bedroom, it may be another indication,” Popyk noted.

Desperate For Attention
The pet behavior expert says there may be more signs that a dog or a cat doesn’t respect your privacy. They are as follows: "They follow you around constantly, even into the bathroom; They want to be in your space all the time, even when you’re trying to sleep or work; They don’t give you any personal space, even when you’re eating or using the restroom; They try to jump on you or paw at you when you’re talking on the phone or working on the computer; They steal your things or intrude on your personal belongings; They beg for attention constantly and get upset when you don’t give them what they want.”

According to Popyk, more signs that your pet is not aware of your privacy are: They whine, bark, or meow excessively, especially when you’re trying to concentrate or relax; They scratch or bite you when you don’t pet them or give them attention; They steal your food or beg for table scraps constantly; They destroy your belongings or make a mess when they’re bored or left alone.
“If your dog or cat is exhibiting any of these behaviors, it may be time to talk to a vet online to ensure that your pet is respecting your privacy. Or learn how to train them!” Popyk said.

Training a dog or a cat to respect their owner’s boundaries largely depends on the individual dog or cat’s personality and behavior. “Some tips on how to train a dog or cat to respect their owner’s boundaries may include using positive reinforcement techniques such as rewarding the pet with treats or praise when they display desired behaviors, consistently enforcing rules and limits, and providing the pet with plenty of exercises and mental stimulation to help keep them calm and focused,” Popyk explained and added an example. “If the owner does not want the dog on the bed, then the dog should never be allowed on the bed, no matter what the circumstance.”

The good news is that it is indeed possible to train pets to have good manners. Popyk’s advice is to start with the basics like sit, stay, come, and down. “Once your pet has mastered these commands, you can begin to work on more advanced manners like not jumping on people, not begging at the table, and not counter surfing. Be patient and consistent with your training, and soon your pet will be the most well-mannered animal in the neighborhood.”

My Dog Has No Sense Of Personal Space
According to the pet behavior expert at Pet Cube, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best way to train pets to have good manners will vary depending on the pet’s individual personality and behavior. However, as a trainer, you will have to be consistent with commands and rewards, use positive reinforcement techniques, and provide plenty of opportunities for the pet to practice good manners.
