40 Funny And Bizarre Things Pets Do According To Their Owners Who Claim That Nobody Believes Them
Picky eaters, adorable cuddlers, and rule followers or breakers... you may think we’re talking humans, but no. This post is entirely dedicated to our beloved four-legged friends who, just like their two-legged hoomans, have their own personalities, tastes and dislikes.
And quirks too! Believe it or not, some of them are so bizarre, no wonder their owners are met with eyerolls and have to prove they’re not lying. “What quirk does your pet (past or present) do that nobody believes when you tell them?” asked DMLorance on Ask Reddit, and received tons of entertaining stories.
Below we selected some of the most interesting ones so that we can all conclude that animals, too, are a bunch of weirdos.

One of my cats legitimately sleeps in my bed. Head on my pillow, under the blanket, held to my chest like an actual baby. He will spend all night like this and get mad if I stop cuddling him at any point. We sleep with our noses almost touching, and I know when he boops my nose with his that he wants me to cuddle him tighter. It's bizarre but adorable.
Pretty sure this is a human in a cats body! Lol some cats are so awesome!
I’ve recently took in in stray, she does this, I couldn’t believe it, I have to leave her some room next to my pillow every night, and middle of night or in morning she’s right next to me, yes it feels like an actual baby
my cat (Mewcus), 4 years old atm, does the EXACT same thing. none of my other cats do it though. it's so precious and now i can't sleep unless he cuddles with me. he also holds me with his front two "hands" like a human baby.
Mine does it aswell, but about the pillow she will wait until I'm asleep to push me away and claim the whole pillow 😆
I had a cat who would do the same thing. We were together 18 years. I miss her everyday.
I have a Boston Terrier that does the same thing... she was very badly wounded as a baby, and required round the clock nursing, so she slept in my arms like that, with her sister Boston on the other side of her. Now no one can sleep if we're not in that same position.
Every night at around 10 pm, my childhood dog would tell me it's time to go to bed. I could be in the living room watching TV and she would sit at the doorway and make little 'boofs' until I eventually got up and followed her to bed. This happened every night from my high school years until the day she passed at 15 years old. I miss that old sassy girl.
My Dolly does the same thing. Every night at 9:00, she lets me know it’s time for me to climb into bed so she can lay on me and go to sleep. She’s currently snoozing on my lap and softly snoring.
Another reason that Daylight Savings Time needs to go - it confuses our pets.

Load More Replies...We have a little chihuahua mix who digs and tries to make a bed in the couch, and loudly sighs, and keeps grunting till we go upstairs and put her in her little bed. She makes little dancy- feet till we lift her covers. Love that girl!
HA! Little Dancy Feet.....CUTE!! Mind if I thieve it?
Load More Replies...Awww. My Katsy was the same she would come barrelling down the stairs making a mu, mi, my sound, reach the bottom and with her eyes bugging out of her head make a long almighty MEEEEOOOWWWWW at me because it's past her bedtime and I hadn't joined her for her pre sleep pets yet.
Every dog has a mom instinct - just making shure you got enough sleep! (Lucky You)
Omg, that's so sweet. I had a sweet dog that did the same for me at 9 every night.
My cats do the same thing. Every night, around 8pm or so, they will start inching towards the bedroom. First they'll get off the couch and walk to the hall. Then come back, boop, walk back to the hallway, but next to the stairs now. Then boop, halfway up the stairs; boop all the way up the stairs, then just yowl until my wife and I go to bed, haha

My cat is litter trained, but at some point he figured out the purpose of the toilet and decided to use it. It was just the two of us at the time, so I was confused by the tiny turds in my toilet until I actually caught him squatting on the seat and hanging his furry little butt over the bowl. It was pretty freaking impressive, honestly.
Boy that cat is a genius, my guys just rush in during the flush to watch the water spin!
The mystery of the disappearing water... My cat yells at me when I don't wait for her to flush.
Load More Replies...My cat did this too! Totally on his own with no prompting. His litter was across from my toilet so sometimes he’d follow me in the bathroom and just decide to use his litter. I guess he just figured out what it was for and trained himself. It was so perfect while it lasted but I / we moved and he stopped using the toilet.
I've pictured the cat holding a newspaper while sitting on the toilet and yelling "it's occupied"
And meanwhile over here one of our cats can't even hit the litter box 🤦🏼♀️ he just fails and have his whole body in the box, except his butt who is on the outside. Idiot ❤️
Buy a much bigger litter box with high sides. I've had a couple of 'butt hangers' and have a huge litter box with high sides stopped them doing it.
Load More Replies...My dog knows too but he's too short to get up there. He'd probably fall in.
my friends husky learned how to use the toilet on her own. we have no idea how she learned but i went to use the bathroom one day and their she was. i took a pic and the proceeded to the bathroom upstairs lol. my friend said she stopped doing it once she got older and couldnt move around as much. it was so odd it looked like she backed up and just plopped her butt on the toilet and would stand there until she was done. my friend told me she caught her doing it one time and she slipped and in went her back foot. to this day i wish i had a dog that smart lol.
I'll just be laying around and yell for my cat when I haven't seen her in a while, "Mildred! Come give me a kiss!" She will always come running into the room and jump on me, she will turn her head to the side and I'll kiss her cheek, then I turn my head to the side and she quickly pushes her nose into my cheek, she will jump back down and go back about her way after. It's the sweetest, but I dont bother telling anyone, though. I don't need to be perceived as the crazy cat lady anymore than I already seem, lol.
Indeed we do! It's not an insult to be called a crazy cat lady - It's a badge of honour to be worn with great pride!!
Load More Replies...I too have the prestigious name of the crazy cat lady - got 3 and one poor stray outside - They all come when I call their names!
That's not nearly enough to be crazy... it has to be at least a 2 digit number 🤣🤣
Load More Replies...This is beyond awesome...just saying...if I were visiting someone and this happened...I'd be both intimidated and amazed.
You say Crazy Cat Lady like it's a bad thing. I work in a company of 500+ people...someone called the office and asked for the Cat Lady and it came directly to me. I was almost offended =^..^=
I miss my boy, Milo. I would pick him and say, “Give me a kiss,” and he would head butt my lips. He also slept in my arms or right next to my pillow every night. He was my furry soul mate.
My cat, Lola, will kick my nose when I pick her up and tell her she's pretty. She's my soulmate as well

Yeah, that's a mental illness. As my old vet used to say, "more than four is an illness"!
Load More Replies...I'm laughing over the cat's name. It's adorable. My late grandmother's name was Mildred, Millie for short.
My girl, now gone went through a few cat names lol. Started as Bella then to BellaZilla, then just plain Zilla. Finally ending on MamaKitty who acted very much like a dog.
Load More Replies...According to Julia, it is always crucial to differentiate whether the behavior you observe is a unique little quirk or a worrying symptom. “Such dog behaviors as walking in circles before laying down or cat kneading are just two examples of ancestral oddities. These behaviors are not necessarily abnormal, but they are still interesting to observe.”
She added that while each pet's behavior is unique, some of the most common reasons for unusual pet behaviors include boredom, anxiety, and lack of exercise.
My father's dog designs elaborate alarm systems with his toys. At night before bed he arranges toys that squeak inside of doorways and at the top and bottom of stairs. If you move the toys he politely waits until you aren't looking and then places the toy back. They don't just end up in a spot they are placed there. It also seems that the toys are chosen for each location based on ease of squeak and volume. The loudest toys are inside the door of the bedroom.
One final note on placement. If the door swings inward the toy is placed outside of the door's arc. If it swings outward it's right in the middle.
A dog with a built in alarm system - you ain't going any where without me - the great protector!
If nothing else, it would scare the s**t outta them!

What kind of dog is this?!? Is it a shepherd of some kind? I've seen shepherds do things like this a lot. They're very intelligent and their problem solving skills are amazing. Better than most humans.

We have a very unique dog that seems to have internalized a set of rules. He is friendly with our 3 cats however if he observes them doing something that we(the humans) have corrected them for previously he will then take on the responsibility for future occurrences by sitting beside the misbehaving cat and barking at them until they stop.
When my cat is on the table or on the kitchen counter, my dog barks at her. I don't know if she's saying "mom said you're not allowed to do that" or "if I'm not allowed to do that, you aren't either", but there's definitely some big sister disciplining going on.
I adore cats, but I get grossed out by their being on the table.
Load More Replies...My dog does this too. We call her the family hall monitor. She will bark at the offending party, then if they persist she will come and get one of us and lead us back to them, barking indignantly.
So, what your saying is that she has a canine version of “I’m gonna tell mom!

My big mastiff does this too! We call her the “fun governor” hahaha She’ll sit and referee between my cats - the two older portly ladies and the one year old parkour loving mischief breathing new boy!
Good for doggo - my cats control and antagonize my dog - he loves it!
Whenever I do push-ups, my dog crawls under me and pushes up off the floor against my torso, trying to help me up.
Aw 😊 I will help you human, your legs have gone funny again. I will lift you ❤
I can just hear the dog - "You know if you walked on 4 legs you wouldn't have to do this!"
Thought the same. Human you are GRUNTING so loud, let me assist you.

Dogs hate pushups. They just can't figure out what you're trying to do.
When asked whether every pet has distinctive character features, Julia said that there is no universal answer to this question, as the character traits of pets can be influenced by a variety of factors, including breed, environment, and owner. “However, some generalizations can be made,” she added.
“For example, certain breeds of dogs may be more prone to aggression or excitability than others, while cats that are used to being around people are likely to be more social than those that are not. Additionally, the way a pet is raised can also play a role in shaping its personality. For example, a dog that is routinely praised and rewarded for good behavior is likely to be more obedient and well-behaved than one that is not.”
I had a kitty who once accidentally got a static electric shock touching her nose to the edge of my metal flat files. For the rest of her long life, she would touch her nose to the corners of things; doorways, furniture, etc looking for more. When she did get shocked again she’d paw at the object and bite in its general direction. I used to “charge her up” in winter by roughing up her fur so she could play her strange game some more. I’ve never heard of anyone else’s cat that did this. She was so unique with such a wonderful personality. Rest In Peace, Corners, my dear friend.
I love that each and every cat has some kind of quirk. It's rare that two cats have the same one - never heard of this one for example -, but they ALL have one. In every possible meaning of the word, they are wonderful creatures :D
My cat's quirk is knowing when it's time for bed. Not exactly impressive, but it's a quirk that she knows the exact time we sleep.
Load More Replies...Corners sounded like a shockingly great cat - love for a fur baby never ends does it?
I would put a hand towel on the kitchen floor. My cat would run and jump on the towel and slide across the floor. I had to keep putting the towel back to original spot so she could slide some more until she got tired.
LOL Mine used to love just being slid across the kitchen floor. Would come back every time for me to do it again and again until "I" ended the game.
Load More Replies...Mine approach me very cautiously, with their eyes screwed up in anticipation of getting shocked!
Load More Replies...My cat loves getting shocks. At one of my jobs something about the room I worked in caused a lot of static build up - bad enough I’d end up with numb fingers touching the metal doors. What it also meant is I was pretty “charged” still when I got home, and my cat would always get shocked. She started looking for ways to create that static shock herself. Turns out, licking plastic shopping bags will do this. I have to hide the bags now.
There's an invisible bug here somewhere JamesTotally, he's damned fast, nips me nose and escapes!

I got my dog Snoopy when I was 10 years and ever since he was a puppy he had this weird love for lettuce. He would go absolutely nuts for it and so whenever I had a sandwich or a burger I would give him some of my lettuce.
Over the years it became a ritual that whenever I prepared any food that involved lettuce for myself, I would grab extra lettuce for him so I could toss it to him as I ate.
He passed away almost 5 years ago after nearly 17 years together, but I still find myself grabbing that bit of extra lettuce for him. It's kind of funny that his little quirk has still stuck with me for all these years and I honestly never want it to go it away, because it's a little way I remember him.
Our cat died about 6 years ago. Whenever I'm at my father's place, I still look down when closing a door so I don't accidentally squish his tail, and it makes me think of him and smile each and every time <3
I still close the fence when i go to my aunt's house so the dog doesn't run away! He passed a year ago
Load More Replies...Aw... that reminds me of our little IG Lola. She was passionate about broccoli and would never say no. Even when she couldn't eat anymore, she would take the broccoli and chew it up and just start letting it fall out of the sides of her mouth, not swallowing it, but she would never say no. Sometimes you would just find the little trail of chewed broccoli pieces around the house. I miss her.
The one thing we cannot protect our loving dogs from is time - keep the memory of Snoopy alive forever!
My cat loves lettuce and spinach. She gets it as a treat occasionally. But, she hates actual cat treats. She sniffs it and walks away.
It’s like she’s given Greenies the short-shrift and has gone straight to actual greens!
Load More Replies...for my doberman, helga, it was bananas. it got to the point that i had to have them put into a double bag or paper bag so she wouldn't see them when i brought them in from the market. if she saw one she would cry until i would peel one for her and let her eat it.
Omg my first pitbull would so this as well as eat the ripe cherry tomatoes from my garden. Yes, I know tomatoes aren't very good for dogs but he loved them. I was so confused as to why my cherry tomatoes seemed to be growing but never turning red... I set up a camera thinking someone was poaching my tomatoes... it was my dog!!! I was also always confused as to why my yellow footed tortoise was always so hungry. Took him to the vet and they said he's perfectly healthy, he just has a big appetite... he gets very bratty when he's hungry, knocks s**t over, tries climbs walls, makes tons of racket or even mows into your shins... so it's unmistakable when he's hungry.. turns out, he was always hungry because my pitbull was stealing his food, mainly his leafy greens! None of my other dogs like veggies at all. I always found it so weird how much he enjoyed veggies.
For my dog, it's cucumber. He absolutely LOVED it. He can even detect the sound it makes being sliced, out of all the other things I may be slicing at the same time!
Mine is that our cat that passed away last year use to play hide and seek with my husband Curtis. Curtis would hide and our cat Buster would run around everywhere until he found him. He would even try to sneak up on him. If he was hiding on the other side of our TV console, Buster would crawl under the console just so he could jump out and “scare” him. If ever Curtis hid so well that Buster couldn’t find him, my husband would jump from his hiding spot and say boo. This would make Buster pout that he had not found him on his own and he would go sit on the couch staring at my husband with a “You son of a bitch” face. Buster even got to where he would hide while playing the game. Cats are hard to find sometimes anyway without one intentionally playing hide and seek and playing with the dedication that Buster would play with. We would both look for him until we gave up and sat on the couch. He would then stroll out a few minutes later with a smug smile on his face.
I have a void named buster. He meows mom, ouch, out, more and dad. No one believes me until they hear him do it. If you hug him he says ow.
I believe you Summer Mason, I had a dog that would tell me to "heel". But only if he got to the outside doorway (where I always said that) before me.
Load More Replies...My kitten does this with me too! It started out with me hiding from her behind the bathroom door, she would come find me and jump up against my leg. Over time I taught her new places to hide e.g behind the bathroom curtain, under the blanket, behind the cupboard door/any door, in the bathtub. I'll hide, she'll find me and take over the same hiding place, I'll leave and come back to "find" her, and she'll jump out at me. It's super cute.
Yep it's true cats do smile and its something you can never forget RIP Buster!
I had a dog who liked to play hide and seek, I would hide and when she found me I'd give her a treat, and then she waited for me to hide again.
And this is how I start with their "Search and Rescue" training. Then I'd progress to having my grandchildren hide outside so I can teach them the teamwork aspect. It works great and is loads of fun.
Load More Replies...Years ago, my dear little Tigger cat used to play hide and seek. But the cool thing is, she made the game up herself. She would let me know when she wanted to play hide and seek. The game was called "Where's that Tigger?" I would know she wanted to play because she would run and hide in the bathroom sitting on the side of the tub behind the shower curtain. I would walk around the apartment repeatedly calling out "Where's that Tigger?" Then I would go in the bathroom, pull back the curtain and say "There's that Tigger!" She would run to hide under the bed. I would go through the same routine and find her there. "There's that Tigger!" She'd run back to between the shower curtain. We'd play this game 6-7 times in a row before she'd had enough. Miss you Tigger Too.
Love this cat. Sorry you lost him you really do feel the hole they left behind. With his awesome personality I'm sure you really miss him. Also so smart.
“A pet can potentially develop a weird behavioral quirk in their adulthood, but it's also possible for this behavior to develop at any other point in the pet's life,” the spokesperson at Online Vet explained. “It could be anything from a sudden fear of loud noises to a newfound obsession with chasing shadows. In other animals, you could observe more aggressive behavior, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, or being more fearful of people and other animals.”
However, if you are concerned that your pet is developing a new, previously unseen behavior, please consult with a veterinarian to rule out any underlying medical issues. While it is often just a weird behavioral quirk, sometimes it’s also a sign of some more serious problem.
My rabbit feigned illness to get attention.
There were so many times throughout her life that my pet rabbit would pretend to be dying that I'd stay home from work or trips, shower her with love and treats, etc. that my boyfriend began to notice a pattern: She was "deathly ill" each time we'd start packing for a weekend away. Not eating, lethargic, refused her favorite treats, when I shook the bag when normally she'd come running, etc. I'm panicking and stop packing, getting ready to call the vet when my boyfriend pointed out, "she always does this. Just leave the room for a bit"
So I left the room and nervously kept getting ready when I hear a shuffle from her cage. She sprinted to her food dish where I dumped the treats and ate them in 2 seconds, sprinted over to her fresh pile of hay and started shoveling that into her mouth. I called out her name from the door frame and she greeted me with a thump of her foot while still eating.
Another time, once the "oh you're leaving? I'm sick" trick wasn't working anymore, I noticed she wasn't hopping at all. She... walked, with her back legs. She walked across her whole play pen, walked into the litter box, walked out, then settled awkwardly in her bed. I tried picking her up and she was just dead weight. I panicked because here was my 6 year old rabbit with a dislocated hip or something so I shook her treat bag because that's all I thought of doing and she sprinted normally over to me, stood up on her back legs with her front legs in the air, bright eyed and bushy tailed waiting for those sweet, sweet dried peas and carrots.
She actually just passed away last weekend at the age of 9 1/2. She suddenly stopped eating and it took half a day of me syringe feeding her for my now fiance to actually believe something was seriously wrong. It's the reason I always allowed myself to believe her tricks because there'd come a day when it wasn't a trick. Unfortunately she was just old, and even syringe feeding wasn't enough to keep her going. Rest in peace you little trickster. I sometimes think you were more dog than a rabbit
I had a dog that did this. At one point I began to realize that his upset tummy coincided with my baking schedule. Felling sorry for him, I'd give him something gentle and home made like Graham crackers. This went on his whole life, but I never let on I knew.
A friend's dog would limp when he wanted attention or sympathy. Problem was he would limp on different legs. A few steps limping on his right back, then the left front. After the first few times panicking, she figured it out
Aww my family adopted a puppy with a broken leg once. Healed just fine, but she’d still try to limp on it or hold it like a broken wing for sympathy and attention sometimes…she often forgot which leg was supposed to be the broken one 😂 we still gave her all the snuggles
Load More Replies...A friend's dog broke her front leg when she was a puppy. For the rest of her long doggie life, whenever she thought she might be in trouble, she'd pop that leg up and start three-legging around so mom would feel sorry for the poor baby and not chastise her.
Rabbits are not supposed to be kept alone. This is just truly heartbreaking. It probably was never a "trick" but genuine sadness when she noticed she was about to be left alone. Poor thing.
💯% spot on, Martha Meyer 👏😺👍It's very important to know which pets NEED a companion (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.) and which prefer solitude (hamsters, bettas, etc).

Omigosh, what an adorable, sweet-faced little bunny! You must miss her painfully.
With my old cat, who died a year or 2 ago, we had a game.
We called it Gun.
The game involved shooting him, in the face, at point-blank range, with a NERF gun. Now this on the surface sounds cruel... but he loved this game. If I cocked that NERF gun he would literally come running from anywhere in the house. He'd then hunker down directly in front of me... bracing for impact. Then he would give a short meow. I (And others who played with him) specifically waited for the meow. That was his "go" signal. And we'd let fly, aiming directly at his nose, usually from around 3 feet away.
Sometimes he would then bound after the dart, sometimes even fetching it. Sometimes he would hunker down again and meow, asking for more. If you were willing, he would play this game for as long as you'd keep playing... although I usually stopped after unloading all 6 rounds.
In the end we buried him with a NERF dart.
Bet he's happy playing with the NERF dart at the Rainbow Bridge with all the other critters!
Our cat, Jude, crossed the rainbow bridge in October 2020. He used to always sleep on this Wounded Warrior Project blanket that I had received in a raffle at our VFW...it was the blanket he was wrapped in as he passed away in my arms, and he was cremated with it. Now whenever I see WWP commercials or fliers or whatever, I tear up more than when an ASPCA commercial comes across the TV. I was at the VA the other day and one of the WWP ads/commercials/whatever came on the television while I was waiting to pick up a prescription. Had to go to the bathroom so I could have a nice cry.

We once smacked our cat lightly on the bottom with a newspaper when he was naughty he loved it and kept coming to us showing his bottom waiting for the tap
My old cat Star could tell when I was suicidal and would lay on my chest and go limp so if I tried to move her, she wouldn't be able to be moved without making me feel worse. She would purr and purr while giving me kisses until the moment passed.
I miss her more than anything.
My 9month old kitten will treat me like a playmate and not like a regular cuddly person. She will wait around corners to jump out and play. She will run at me sideways all POOFED up to initiate a chase. High fives with no treats and sitting when asked to do so.
Torties are the best!
I used to have a cat that wasn't really cuddly! But when i was on my period and in pain he was coming to sit on my belly and purr!!! I was instantly feeling better
Animal just KNOW!! Mine, not a cuddler AT ALL! Started one day laying on me all the time. Long story short I had a bad blockage in my carotid artery. Once I was fixed she wanted nothing to do with me again lol.
Load More Replies...Cat purring has a proven anti-stress and healing effect (like it speeds up bone knitting) and nobody knows how they do it.
I came to make sure that someone mentioned this. I read that they think that it may have to do with the resonance of the purr. Sort of like a massage chair vibrating.
Load More Replies...I've had many cats and most of them have given me moments like this. Once I was sob-crying, severely depressed, and my sweet ginger kitten brought his favourite toy over to me, dropped it at my feet and made a pitiful meow, as if to say, "Please stop crying, mom, it's terrible! Just play with this!" I laughed so hard that it broke me out of the darkness for that moment.
Torties are the best. They're the most unique cats I have ever had. I have 4 and they're the weirdos of my pack. I have endometriosis and whenever I'm having a flare up my one tortie Gremlin will lay on my abdomen like a heating pad and she won't move or leave my side. Even when I have to go to the bathroom, she comes with and sits next to my feet until I'm done, then climbs back into bed and goes right to her spot on my stomach. She's not an affectionate cat at all and it took me 2 years to fully tame her after taking her off the street, but whenever I'm in pain she turns into a different cat. She knows I need some support and something to make me smile. Cats are incredible.
My experience with my Tortie is almost exactly the same as yours! They're amazing cats, very unique. We always say Lola's not a cat, she's just Lola, and I wouldn't have it any other way
Load More Replies...Cats are very perceptive to our moods sound like Star was a life saver! Love her always!
She was the best and I miss her every day. Trust me when I say when she passed, I decided to keep her ashes very close to my side for the rest of my life :)
Load More Replies...My dog does this when my partner has panic attacks. He will sit on a bed and cry until my partner sits down, he will then crawl onto his lap and put his paws on his torso and then he will stay there until it's passed and sometimes lick his face. He's not trained to do this, my partner had his first breakdown a week after we adopted him (hes a rescue) and he didn't do anything that time but every time since... he did it to me a week ago when I found out my Nan had passed. I didn't understand why it helped my partner until then but just assumed it was our normally-uncuddly dog being weird. But it seems to be a thing. Animals are amazing.
My cat definitely knows when I'm unwell: I am disabled, have chronic pain and chronic illnesses (Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME) and I also suffer from depression, OCD, BPD, ASD and PTSD (Lots of letters!) She is not much of a cuddle cat but when I'm unwell, mentally or physically, she is on me like velcro. She will wake me up with a paw on my cheek if I am having a nightmare; she will put her paw in my hand to remind me she is still there, and would appreciate a little attention. She saved my life by giving me someone to love when I was alone and broken, recovering from my life imploding. She knows when I'm in pain and avoids the tender points on my body (anyone with Fibro will know what I mean) but uses her body warmth to soothe my pain. When I have bad IBS attacks, she sits with me in the bathroom. Her name is Magic, that is what she is and what she does. I've made several posts about her here on BP
My Tortie Cali will come and walk between me and my husband whenever we are talking too loudly - not even arguing - trying to calm us down. She will also come to me when I'm crying and get as close to my face as she can - sniffing and giving me 'kisses'. When I'm in bed with a Migraine she won't leave my side.
My cat loves having her teeth brushed and will cry if I don't brush her teeth.
Oh my heart melts 😍 How did this ritual begin? I wonder if kitty has tricksy teeth, or if it's more about it just enjoying the feeling
No point asking them here. Try Reddit where it was posted a year ago.
Load More Replies...I wish mine liked it. Maybe it's the feeling of the brush and taste of the toothpaste.
I believe you. I have a video on youtube where my sphynx brushes her own teeth. I only hold the brush for her.
Got a YT tutorial to show how to do this without getting scratched or bitten?
They have special toothpaste for cats that tastes like tuna or chicken. That's how we got our cat, Booji, to sit still for his teeth being brushed. Just like humans, regular brushing cuts down on tartar buildup, and therefore, fewer vet bills.
My dog demands I read to him. Whenever I'm sitting reading something he'll come over, put his head on pages, and paw at me until I start reading to him.
I read a lot but I don't think my critters like it they start to paw or crawl all over me - I love it!
I read to dog's as well as talk. It helps make you seem less crazy LOL.
My dad had a male cat years ago. He was an indoor/outdoor cat and one day when he did not return home for the night, my dad went to look for him and found him injured somewhere after what looked like a dog bite. So he got bandages and stitches on his leg and had to stay indoors because he was injured. Then he gradually healed and had a limp on the injured leg so my dad didn't let him outdoors fearing he might be attacked again. The vet said the limp should go away soon. But it didn't. My dad believed the cat was faking the limp, so one day he watched him from the corner of the kitchen door as the cat walked perfectly without a limp when nobody was around. He just did not want to go outdoors because he feared dogs now.
If he was treated differently when he had the limp (fussed over more, etc.) that might have been the reason. I've heard of dogs and cats doing that because they make the link to limping and more attention.
We had a dog in our neighborhood that would walk around and visit all the other pets. We got a cat who, although we didn't know it, HATED dogs. We had two other cats who were both large ( 2 main coons), but the new cat, who we named Max, was huge. One day that dog walked up to our house, friendly as could be, and Max went after him (we paid the vet's bill for many deep scratches and bites). The dog was a pit bull husky mix and was about 23 In at the shoulder. After that, the dog would visit our other cats if he couldn't see Max.
When our cat went out the first time some mean kids ran over her tail had to be amputated. She still liked humans I don't why. She was an indoor cat until my stupid ex let her out when I went to see family she got attacked by dogs. She died way too young during same trip she drank anti freeze. Thank you stupid.
My cat is extremely territorial. My new boyfriend didn't believe me until while we were making out on my couch, my big ol' main coon went behind him and when he went to look to see what my cat was doing, my cat sucker-punched my boyfriend on the face three times with his paw, ran away to my kitchen, started opening and slamming shut the lower kitchen cupboards, and then ran to his litter box to take a massive s**t.
He also would get in between us in bed, put his back to me, stretch all four legs out and slowly put his claws into my boyfriends back and then retract them again. When my boyfriend told him to stop and turned over to go back to sleep, five minutes later my cat did the same thing with all four of his paws, but would only put *1* claw into his back.
They are bffs now because my boyfriend is a morning person and I am not, which is something very useful to my cat.
I regret that I have but one upvote to give for "[Maine C**n cat goes ape], and then ran to his litter box to take a massive s**t."
my dog did this! she would push me away from my now husband for like a year. one day my husband and his parents went to a wedding i didnt go bc i had only met his friends 1 time before then. i stayed at his house with the dog and from that point on it turned into her keeping him away from me. i some became the one she loves more bc of our time together. here we r 7 years later and she is still getting between us only bc i live here now its "no kissing or hugging without me" if we kiss or hug she needs kisses and hugs too lol. i guess its her way of allowing my husband to hug and kiss me. he has to pay the toll for her to allow it lol
I guess jealousy and love is universal even for our beautiful fur babies!
Ha! I had a ragdoll, Arnie, who would do the bed thing to my ex husband. Except he didn't use claws. He'd brace himself against my stomach, extend all four legs until his feet were resting on my ex husband's back and PUSH with all his might! That cat figured out my ex was a shithead long before I did...
Had a Norwegian Forest cat that was like this!! She would always use her large, muscular, fuzzy body to get between my (now) husband and I. And if he was cuddling me during the night, she would bite his arms until he turned away, then she'd get underneath the blankets and sleep with her nose just about touching my nose. RIP Flashycat! <3
My childhood cat burglarized our neighbors. We found swimsuits, sporting equipment, and even one time caught him dragging a kids backpack through the kitty door. What happened to the kid, I wonder.
That cat doesn't like to [have] kid around, and I ain't lion 😁 I'd better paws the bad humour, I'm only kitten yas ^-^
Ok, someone is on fire here...my hat is tipped to you...😊
Load More Replies...My friend's cat once brought us an entire rack of ribs from the neighbour's bbq.
My uncle had a Golden that used to do this. Once, he dragged home an entire 25-pound bag of dog food.
This is known as a retriever cat or a collector or just a delinquent - but you gotta love "em!
I had a cat like that once her favorite thing to bring home was lace thongs.... and frilly bras
I had the same kind of crazy cat do this! It was a Siamese and I read somewhere that they’re prone to this behaviour. Much nicer than bringing home dead animals though!

My childhood dog had a weak rear right leg, so anytime he wanted to hike his leg on something off to the left he would just do a handstand rather than try to support his weight in the bad leg.
But wait... there's more. When he started getting older we brought home a puppy who absolutely idolized his big brother. Within about a month he had worked his way up to also doing handstands when he peed, but for this dog it was EVERY SINGLE TIME. I guess he thought that was just how you were supposed to do it.
Nothing like having two dogs pissing down their own chest several times per day.
Lolol. I had a Westie that did this to mark higher. He'd ever walk on his front paws to spread it further. The neighbors loved it and when they saw me would call out " Hey, Glen! Bring out the dawg!
It's weird how dogs learn that. I had a female and a male dog. The male dog would lift his leg to pee, and before long, the female dog would attempt that too. Needless to say, it never worked out well for her.
When my female Australian Terrier (14lbs) was a pup she'd start peeing normally, then one leg would slowly raise up so she'd look like a boy, then the other would slowly go up too. By the end she'd be doing a handstand (w/o walking) until she was done. It'd look like the force of the pee was pushing her hind end upwards 😹🤣😹🤣😹 She never peed on herself and she stepped like a ballerina over the puddle, never touching anything. She'd always pee on other dogs' poo piles the same way, never once stepped in anything. When she got older she still lifted her leg like a boy, but stopped "floating" up. I didn't have any male dogs around so she wasn't copying anyone. I always thought it was because I couldn't get her spayed bc of a bad heart.(Don't worry I know what I'm doing, 13 years and not a single pregnancy for her. And 10 years for my rescued standard poodle with the same issues.)
Load More Replies...I had two boy dogs, one would lift his right leg, the other the left leg. we adopted a little girl who dearly loved her big brothers and wanted to do everything that the boys did including lifting her leg, but she wanted to be just like both brothers, so she started lifting both back legs.
My older dog (rescued from backyard breeders about to turn her into a "broodmare") had wonky teeth and would pick up a mouthful of food and spit it out on the floor before eating it one piece at a time. My new rescue definitely did NOT do this when I got her. About a month later I noticed she was doing it too. Even though the other dog died over a year ago, the new one still does it to this day. Critters be funny.
Just one more reason I don't have male dogs or cats. Unlike humans, when it comes to pets, females are much less drama...
I'm the opposite. I find male animals much more chilled than females. The females are always moody. I have three males and a female currently and the female is a little bitch if she doesn't get what she wants!
Load More Replies...My childhood puddle did a handstand and a circle walk every time she peed. A lot of cars was close to a crash when the drivers saw her.
I guess in the dog world imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as in our world!
My husband is a roofer and our first dog would climb the ladder and sit beside him. Almost caused 3 cars to crash and a runner to jump in a ditched when she barked at him we've had great dogs since but she was special.
There was one in a nearby town who did this but only when there were parades in town the owner would open a window and out he'd pop!
As a kid our Fox Terrier would run up a cottonwood tree to a branch that went over the neighbors garage. The neighbor said she thought she had something in the attic until one day she was outside and saw the dog walking all over her roof.
My birb likes to sit in my cupped hand (like really gets floofy/smushed up and comfortable in it like it's his couch) and make this face (◕ᴗ◕✿) while I give him scritches.
He bites my hand when I stop, so this has to happen until he falls asleep or something. When he is ready to poop (birbs poop every half hour or so) he walks out of my cupped hand and onto my leg, staring at me bobbing his head up and down so I could bring him to his cage. If I'm spaced out watching TV, he will walk to the edge of my foot and poop off the side. He's so polite like that.
If you pet birds a certain way, they will think you're flirting & then get territorial with you & eventually get depressed because you didn't physically mate with them. Google it.

🦕Did you know that they are descended from dinosaurs?🦖
Load More Replies...Well he found the perfect person. I don't generally like birds. They poop everywhere maybe I need a birb seeing as they are so polite. LOL
My bird says "Good night" when she's ready for bed. If you don't turn out her light and leave, she'll keep saying it and start growling. She usually says it in the evening, but she'll "good night" me out of the room in the afternoon if she wants a nap.
Family had an African Grey that would tell you when he was ready for bed. He would start off real quiet: "go night-night", and then gradually get louder if you didn't cover him, until, eventually: "GO. NIGHT.NIGHT!" It was hilariously adorable
I have a cat that plays fetch with his stuffed animals.
He also gets annoyed when I don't throw the stuffed animal far enough, and loves to chase it down the stairs into the basement.
I have a cat that also plays fetch. He brings His ball to us so he can play.
Mine likes this little plastic piece that has about an inch or so of stiff feathers left in it. Used to be the feather end on a wand toy, but he chewed the feathers off and decided he liked the nub better. Could get him to play go fetch for hours with that thing.
Load More Replies...The string or the cat? If you mean the string is the SAME piece, then it's probably crawling with bacteria 🙀 And if you mean the cat, it's very lucky that it hasn't gotten it caught on its papillae because then they are forced to swallow it (if they don't get help quickly enough). If it happens too much then they can get an Impacted Bowel and need surgery. Strings and cats are a bad combination.
Load More Replies...Our ragdoll kittens are the queens of fetch. Especially rolled up balls of paper.
Yes! First time I knew cats liked playing fetch was when I got my two raggies - they loved it! And always scrunched up balls of paper...
Load More Replies...I got my two cats about a year apart. When I just had one, he started bringing me a toy which I would throw - playing fetch. The second one is not very bright, but she did eventually figure out how the game works and now the two of them compete to bring the toy back. The second one very recently started initiating the game.
my cat (Mecus) who cuddles with me, also plays fetch. gets annoyed when other cats try to interject.
he also got featured in a music video doing that! yay for him, i guess. no one asks the trainer-cum-slave to star in videos. sigh.

I have a Pomeranian who is a total introvert. She's super laid back and chill and that kind of throws people off anyway. No matter where I live she claims some space in the house as her "bedroom" and goes there to be alone.
One time it was a cabinet in my kitchen. She claimed one of the lower unused cabinets and took soft stuff and snacks and toys in there and could open the cabinet all by herself. She would chill in there for hours.
Currently it's the corner of the sectional against the wall, she has all her favorite things under there and my other dog NEVER goes under there. It's her private space.
My dog made her own bed in my closet. I couldn't find her one day and looked everywhere. She was in my closet, in my clothes basket on the floor, where I had put some pillows I was going to get rid of. It's in the very back of my closet underneath my hanging clothes, in the corner, where it's dark. Now when I leave home I see her going in there to lie down. I left it alone now because that's her private space that she created. She goes in there all the time.
Load More Replies...Now that sounds like my kind of doggo - if you would put a book in my hidey hole I would be a happy pup!
Well, she IS an introvert. We need time alone to recharge our social butterfly batteries.
One of mine can hear a jingle from a commercial from the other side of the house and come running because he knows that jingle for that commercial means dogs will be on TV.
My standard poodle could be fast asleep but when Coronation Street's music came on she'd pop up and have her nose against the screen just waiting for that orange tabby! She'd bark-sing to it and wag like crazy, and sometimes even look around the edge of the TV to be sure it wasn't hiding there. (I'm American but I love British humor and shows.)
My cat gently grabs spiders in his mouth and brings them over to drop on me. Yep, I'm deathly afraid of spiders.
Mine offered me a snake, in bed. Really. A non dangerous and quite tiny, but i still feel its cold moisty body rolling aroud my wrist as it waked me up. Snakes give a very specific feeling when being handled. Shttiest wake up
MINE DOES THIS TOO. He'll even scoop one up, drop it in a room, then do it again until he's dropped it in every room of the house like he's giving him a f***kin tour
He's just trying to help you with some exposure therapy to show you they are not going to hurt you.
My friend's cat evidently knew that my friend was afraid of birds, because one day when he was mad at her for something, he dropped a dead bird in the washing machine. Next time she did laundry, it came out with feathers and bird body parts all over it.
My cat just eats them. She’ll eat any bug, tbh. She’s also really good at tracking them. Good enough that we call out for Tabby if we see a bug in the house. Too good sometimes, though. I had to stop her trying to catch and eat a wasp once. I caught it in an old jar and threw it outside. And ooooooh, was she looking daggers at me for taking HER bug away! (Of course she would’ve hated getting stung—-DUH!—-but she’s only a year and a half old, so doesn’t know that.)
Kathryn, our cat's worse, she plays with them until they die
Load More Replies...My cat that passed away 2 years ago did the opposite. She knew somehow that my oldest daughter was scared of spiders and everytime there was a spider near my daughter. The cat would eat it. The cat doesn't usually eat spiders. I tried to feed it spiders to see but she saw it was me and didn't do nothing to it.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear sweet girl kitty 😿😭

I had a toy poodle mix named Yoda who would meow like a cat if I said "Yoda go meow". It started as me saying it as a joke to him here and there and one day he actually started doing it. He was a good boy.
I had a cat who would bark when she was hungry (I swear the sound was way closer of a bark than a meow). I used to reply "You're a cat, that's "meow" ! Repeat after me : "ME-OW" and she used to try mimic my "meow" until I gave here more food, when she was closer to a meow than a bark 😂 She was amazing ♥️
We have a large Chihuahua called Yoda - he tries to talk to us using the quietest of barks.
And some people call them “dumb animals”. The people who do that are the dumb ones.
My old collie used to yell at us if we didn’t come home from school on time. Like if we went to a friends or the walk home took too long, he would howl at you for the rest of the night and there was no getting out of it with him.
He was also afraid of ice cream bucket handles.
I miss that dog.
I had a collie who hated yellow and orange things. I think it started with yellow snowmobile and orange chainsaw. Once my dad was using chainsaw and my collie was supposed be safely inside. She went out through ventilation window. The window was actually too narrow for her so she took the whole frame with her. She was also afraid of wind if it hit her bum fur while doing her business and especially bad was if a plastic bag was flying in the wind. She was also fierce. She saved us from attack of much bigger raging dow with just nasty side eye and show of pearly whites. When she was a little puppy, some kids shoot some fireworks towards us and that made her quite jumpy for the rest of her life. I still miss that neurotic little spitfire.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear boy dog 😭
Speaking of buckets with handles...We looked out the window one day and there was a yearling bear cub on our deck. He/she had picked up a bucket by the handle (it also had a lid) and was walking off the deck with it. We think that the bear thought there was something delicious in the bucket. It was so funny to see this!
My dog refuses to drink from a bowl. We took him to the vet because he was sick, turns out he was dehydrated. My dog always has water next to his food, but wasnt drinking it. We changed his bowl to a normal dish, the ones we use to eat soup. Now he drinks from it, if u change it back to a normal dog's bowl, he will stop drinking water and get sick. Nobody knows why.
Is the normal bowl plastic? Animals can be smart enough not to want to eat or drink from anything that smells like plastic.
my cat seeks out plastic and eats it. had to turn our home into a plastic-free zone! going eco-friendly one cat at a time.
Load More Replies...My cat refuses to drink from bowls (I tried everything: platic, metal, glass, pet bowl, human bowl). What she accept is: dirty dish in the sink, watering can, backwater (especially from plants like my papyrus but also from any plate on the balcony), bathroom faucet, glass of water. I have to be careful because she can drink bad water, and then puke everywhere for hours. So for now, the metal watering can is the cat "water bowl".
We have a bird bath in the garden, and it's the only "bowl" our cats will drink from.
Load More Replies...My dog, used to be fed in the kitchen, until that day when he drug his food bowl, into the living room onto his carpet! He saw us eating all the time in the living room and wanted to do the same! So now this is where he is fed. He isn't a messy eater, so it works. He is a very social dog! He also loves people more than other dogs!
My cat is the same way. She would not drink water from a cat bowl. We had a pan we used to cook in sitting around with water in it. She started drinking out of that. 16 years later, it's still her drinking pan.
Some cats have very sensitive mustaches and they get annoyed with bowls because they are touching them while drinking! Could be this! It's not strange I've heard it before
Load More Replies...I had a cat who refused to drink water from a bowl, he'd only drink it from the human glass on my nightstand. He started out by drinking mine, and I had to put two glasses on the nightstand, one for him, and a glass with a lid for me. He really thought he was a human.
OMG - I posted a similar story in a reply above! My cat started drinking from my favourite tea cup that's always been on the night stand, so now I have to keep two cups there for both of us.
Load More Replies...Our dog is the same about his dinner. Dinner only, though. He’s fine eating breakfast from his bowl but, since we feed him the same time we eat, I guess he wanted to eat off a plate like we do. So I bought him a 99 cent plate at Walmart. He. Loves. It. 🐶❤️🍽
My cats are the same way but they have to have their food in china bowls or dishes they will just sniff it and walk away if food is presented any other way!
For decades, I've always owneed owned at least one cat that will only drinking fresh, running water from a tap. I currently have a beautiful void kitty who will sit next to any sink in the house and yell until I turn on the tap. Doesn't matter which sink, he just wants fresh, running water. I love cats and their quirks!
Our boxer who passed away used to howl along to billy Joel “piano man”. as soon as she heard the pino riff at the beginning she would perk up and start signing. She taught our current boxer who was a puppy when she had cancer and he has since taught our other dogs. It’s so nice to hear them sing because they all wouldn’t have learned if it weren’t for our first dog. She used to sing along to Adele as a puppy as well. Miss that dog so much.
Singing dogs wonderful - they leave songs in your heart when they pass!
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear girl dog 😭
My cat likes to take baths with me. Every night, whether it’s a shower or bath, she comes right in. Baths are her favorite though.
When we first got my cat whenever we turned on the sink he would put his head under the faucet and drink it while the water ran over his head

I don't have a bathtub,, but a shower stall with the same size footprint as a tub. It's got a seat in there that would be perfect for a whisky that cat or small dog to sit on. Wish one or both of my sister's cats would do that.
Where did "whisky that" come from? And why can't we edit submitted comments?
Load More Replies...Well, every day when I get home my cat is usually right at the door to greet me. Every time I come in I go, “Helloo!” in a kinda high pitched voice to her, along with belly scritches and pets. She’s quite a vocal kitty to begin with, but now every morning around 3-5 a.m. she walks around going “HELLOOOO” in all these strange pitches. If you lock her out of a room you’re in, she’ll sometimes stand at the door and go “helloooo” in a sadder tone. At first it was TERRIFYING but man. She’ll get the zoomies sometimes and screech hello all over the house for no reason, she just loves talking I guess. I thought I was a dog person but I seem to have a special place in my heart for cats now too!
Cats have very impressive vocalization abilities. The youngest of ours tries out a "hewwo" every once in a while just to weird us out.
I once saw a cat that said “meow” like a human does. At first I didn’t realise it was the cat until it looked right at me and did it again. A friend also had a cat that mimicked her kids saying “mum” because it worked out that that was a way of getting her attention

When she was a kitten, she used to make this cute little "eep eep epp" sound as a greeting to me. I mimicked it back at her and now that's how we talk - we both say "eep eep eep" in a high pitched voice at each other when it's a social chat (i.e. nothing is wanted, no food or anything involved). It's pretty cute!
I've got a boy cat like that! He wanders around in the night crying "can you hear me? Hello?" It's creepy and amazing.
My cat doesn't say hello to me anymore when I come home. She just sits there and look at my hands to see if I have food
One of mine likes to sleep in the pillow beside me. If I wake in the middle of the night, he sighs (swear to god the cat sighs) and puts his head on my head and purrs to make me fall asleep again.
my cat will be summoned from half a mile away and come to me at full tilt if i go outside in our forest and yell, "Treats!" Shes my crazy baby, and a chonker
our gg, a ginger cat used to say hello all the time. shocked the heck out of my parents. he would sit in front of the heater vent and yell 'HELLO' until the heat came on lol
My cat puts me to bed sometimes when I stay up past 11pm during the week. It’s like she KNOWS “you have work tomorrow dummy”. She harasses me until I get up and follow her to the bedroom. She will, if I resist enough, just crawl onto me and curl up. “Fine we’re sleeping right here then.”
Yup, mine too! I have 2 cats who know the routine and aren't shy about reminding us.
Load More Replies...Yep, if my cat determines I am now up too late she will come stare at me until I get the point and follow her back to the bedroom. Apparently she has to put me to bed before her night can begin.
I had a cat, Murphy, a long time ago, who would come out of the bedroom to find me when it was time to go to bed. Well, when it was HER idea of time to go to bed. Anyway, she’d find me and just fuss and fuss at me, looking at me then in the direction of the bedroom. She’d keep it up too, like she was my mom and it was a school night. I’d finally give up and put away what I was doing and go to bed. I mean, you know, who can resist a cute little cat fussing at you to get your jammies on and get some sleep?
My cat will follow me around in the evening until I sit down in our reclining chair and get in the perfect position for him to snuggle up as close to my face as possible and because I don't have to support him I have two hands free to scratch his belly and his chin simultaneously.
My cat likes to lay under me when I'm planking. I consider it extra motivation to not fall.
My horse can play fetch
Horses absolutely love to play - a lot of people don't know that. They're very cute about it, too!
Omg, I used to watch one of my riding buddies play fetch with her horse when I was a teenager...I was always sooooo jealous because my horse was more interested in seeing if I had treats or whatnot! Tried the "fetch" game with a honey crisp apple with Smokey for about a week straight, but he could not care less. He was a stubborn, selfish, greedy asshole--but I loved that damn horse!
My dog get super wound up if you make a small "pppt" like farting noise from your mouth. She legit breaks if you make this noise and starts running laps in the house and diving into you lap and begging to be pet, it's very strange. My other dog needs to look you right in the face when you come home, she will jump up and want her paws held just so she can get really close to your face then gets down and goes and does her own thing. She also hugs you if you're sitting on the ground which makes my heart weak
"Pppt". My cat didn't even look up 😃 but if I sing or even hum she thinks I'm trying to communicate and comes dashing over. Animals pick weird things to get excited about, but gah it's sooo cute!!
If I start singing in an especially operatic voice, one of my cats will look at me and meow, as if to say, "Mom, please stop making that noise!" LOL!

My mom’s dog is like that - she needs to put her nose right up to your nose and stare you in the eyes and smell your breath for a few seconds every time she sees you. It’s cute and disconcerting and I suspect she’s trying to find snacks lol.
When i eat, my dog HAS to sniff my face/mouth to see if there's anything left for him!

Bet the first dog in your story thought the fart sound was you calling their name, and the second dog decided to try and be as low key as possible, just to balance everything out.
My girl pup will also do the jump up and have her paws held and my boy will come up while you’re sitting on the couch and give you a hug and a kiss on the face then go back to harassing his sister. It’s sweet

My cousin's pit did the same thing. She also thought she was a lap cat...
My cat can sit, but whenever I say "sit" in front of some guests he just stares at me for like ten seconds
my cats act like we don't feed them in front of guests (their food bowls are always full btw). they will act like absolute barbarians until the guest leaves.
Our cat is very strange in that she'll sometimes sit on my lap while we're watching tv and let me pet her (just a bit! I think she gets overstimulated easily). BUT-- if I call attention to her doing this, especially if she's also watching tv... she gets up and leaves. We can talk about all kinds of other things without setting her off, but if she notices us talking about HER, she leaves. It's bizarre.
When I give out treats all the cats and dogs come. I say sit pretty and they all sit.
my cat does sit and stay and be quiet but you have to say "shhhhh" because she begs for food to much. she is food motivated :)
I had a cat that would sit on my shoulder every time I went poop. He would just come and jump on my shoulder and wait till I was done!
You protected him while he did his business in the litter box, right? He was simply returning the favor!
An ex's cat that hated everyone in their family, including him, decided I was the love of his (the cat's) life the first time I went over. Any time after that when I was over at the ex's place the cat would either be sitting on me or following me, including to the toilet and sit on my legs staring at my face until I would go for the TP where he would jump down and wait. Ex tried to get the cat off me one time sitting on the couch and copped claw marks all over the face. I was sad when I found out from the ex's mother, whom I occasionally worked with, that the ex had the cat put down because it kept shredding the new gf's face and taking a dump in her purse if she left it laying around. Should have taken the cat with me. He was a great big floof ball
People who put animals down because of behavior problems have a special place in Hell reserved for them.
Load More Replies...Kids or animals, there’s no such thing as privacy when they love you and want to make sure you’re OK.
My kitties take turns searching the perimeter of the bathroom every time I go. They throw the door open, check all four corners and sit at the door like a guard.
I can picture them busting through the door like a little feline SWAT team. "Left corner - clear!" "Shower curtain - clear!" "Bath mat - clear!" "Sir, we have some suspect toilet paper here." "All right boys, you heard him, start shredding!"
Load More Replies...My cat, Cheeto, has always been a shoulder cat! She always follows me into the bathroom and MOST of the time, she'll stay off my shoulders while I'm doing my business. (She almost always sits on the vanity and stares at the side of my head, waiting to be scritched.) Every once in a while, though, she'll climb onto my shoulders if she's feeling especially loving!
I have one who makes me lean over jumps on my back crosses to the vanity sits and watches me when I finish he has to watch the flush then he leaves!
in the wild cats watch out for other animals while their kin goes poop
One of our cats actually lays in the bathroom sink while my husband has "me time" lol
Our just like to lay in my husbands pants/boxers whilst around his ankles!
We call my parents' dog the hall monitor. If the cats (play)wrestle, or their other dog doesn't *immediately* get into her kennel when she's told, or if someone in the house is told to "stop" something, he will insert himself, whine, and go get my mom.
My dad just passed away last September and I took in his pitbull/boxer mix named Doofus (her name was baby when he adopted her n he kept that name until he realized how much of a doofus he sounded like screaming "baby!!!" Everytime she wouldn't come inside.. so he called her doofus!) and ever since we brought her home she's become the "hall monitor" with my Cats too. If I yell at one of them, she immediately runs in the room and chases them off of whatever they were doing. If I say "doof patrol you kitties!" She'll come in and start looking around to make sure everyone is being good. One of my cats picks on my oldest cat and whenever he does this, she comes in and picks on him until he stops. She also does this at daycare n dog parks. If dogs start playing to rough or it gets too chaotic, she'll literally go split it up and mediate. She doesn't like to play, but she likes to control how others play. She really is a doofus.
I had a parrot who would only whistle, but sometimes he would straight up compose songs. Nothing amazing, mostly splicing together bits of tunes he liked, but still songs that did not exist.
Fun fact: if you want your bird to talk, don't get it a mirror. Spend lots of time with it, making eye contact and repeating words often. A mirror will take loneliness away, and that's why it won't talk, because it's communicating with the other bird in the mirror, and not you.
Not-so-fun fact: Mirrors often cause s.exual frustration in birds.
Load More Replies...I do that too but I just have a poor memory! Sounds like one smart bird!
My cat who has since passed could always tell when I was super upset. As a teenager, if I was crying she would lay next to me and gently rub my arm, hand or cheek with the end of her tail. When I stopped crying she would stop "petting" me. I miss her every day
My granny's cat did that too. She told me the cat once wiped the tears of her face with her paw.
I got one that does this. she just cuddled with me and layed on my arms and stuff for a few days while I was having a pancreatic attack. while I was getting better her sister hurt her paw and is limping... Well she saw last night that I was doing okay so she cuddled with her sis. Shes a shaman
Found a roach in the tub and screamed. The cat came running in meowing, jumped into the tub, snapped that roach up and ran off. She bit its head off then carried on being a loaf elsewhere. Not a soul believes me and she's never done it again.
Too bad she didn’t eat the whole thing-cockroaches can live for a week without their heads!
Our cat, Zeke, shouts. Not a loud meow, not a screech; he just walks around the house yelling at us until we ask what the hell he wants. The first time our new neighbors heard him through the window they actually came over to ask WTF was going on. Said they’d each owned cats their entire lives and have never heard one make sounds like that. He also chitters just like a squirrel, which is f**king weird to hear too. He’s just a typical barn cat we got for free from friends.
when i closed the door on my cat's foot by accident once, she screamed "ow" and sounded so much like a human that my parents thought it was me.
A long time ago we had a cat who potty trained himself. The cat was outside most of the time, so no cat litter box. He peed and pooped in my toddlers small toilet. It still had to be cleaned tho. But still, I consider it cool.
And now we have a snake who likes to wrap himself around my laptop whenever he is out and the laptop is around.
I have a cat that knows how to turn a lamp on and off. It's one of those twist knob lamps. He grabs it in his teeth and turns it.
One of our cats discovered our touch lamp would turn on and off, We had to unplug the darned thing so we could get some sleep.
Had a touch lamp my cat would turn on and off - maybe it was a power trip!
This happened with a past pet, my rat Scabbers (Named after Harry Potter) One time, when I was decorating my room for christmas, I also had my rats out of their cage, since they need to move around every now and then. When it was time to get them back in the cage, however, Scabbers was nowhere to be found, that is, until I saw him having gone into one of the decorative stockings I had hung from my bookcase. This was something he continuously did every christmas, and when he died, it was kinda sad to see the very ratless stocking hanging from the bookcase.
Rats make fantastic pets, extremely clever and very affectionate. Mine used to love going to sleep in my hood and nibbling my ear lobes. I would love to get some again!
I have a husky, he can be so dramatic, adorable and quite the character. A few months ago when I was making dinner, he would be close by just in case if I dropped any ingredients. Well, instead I called to him, gave him a piece of beef trimming and said "I love you." In return he said "awoohoo!" which sounds alot like "I love you!" I said it again and he said it back again!! My husband to this day will not believe me.
huskies r amazing creatures........n being dramatic is their oath to their ancestors that they'll oblige to with everything they are :)
My husky would talk back you if you yelled at him. I tried to teach him to speak, but he would do is say a very soft woof.
That my overly happy, energetic golden retriever genuinely gives me dirty looks to frick off when I try to play with him past 9:00. He wants to sleep and my shenanigans are keeping him from doing just that.
My old cat hated a particular singer. I’d watch music awards shows a lot, and she loved to watch with me. But she’d get up, glare at me, and leave the room when that person was performing. She liked the shows in general though. Whenever commercials came on I’d get a look that clearly said, “What did you do to it, human? Put the music back.”
I used to read my homework poetry out loud. She hated Wordsworth and would leave the room. She seemed to appreciate everyone else.
My cat takes every sherpa blanket we get. She doesn't care about any other blankets, only the sherpa ones, and she will lay on them and not leave for literally an entire day and just purr her little heart out.
We have a sherpa-ish blanket that we call the Cat Trap! All I have to do to get one of my cats on my lap is spread out the Cat Trap, call out "Heeeeere, kitty kitty!!" and BAM! Here they come! Whichever one gets there first will usually claim the spot for hours...or however long I can go without needing to get up!
My cat is super social, very much like a puppy - likes to play fetch, follows me everywhere and never leaves my side. No one believes me, because they've literally never seen my cat! He hides at the hint of a noise at the door and runs under the couch until the bad strangers go away.
had a cat like that too - but our Mara simply vanished when visitors came - we ourselfes could not tell where she was
I have another cat of which in an old house he found out how to turn on the bathroom sink to get water (it was one of those that you push/pull not twist) and so I’d always walk in to find the sink on. If only he had learned to turn it back off
I have a cat that plays fetch. He will also dunk his toys in water so that they can be thrown further. Sometimes he will also just grab his toy and fling it super high up into the air and keep tossing it around. He also likes watching tv when it is on. He usually finds a comfy spot and then settles in to watch it. My other cat is a big fan of shoulder rides and will jump on your shoulders if he wants a ride if you are bending down to put on shoes or something. He can also open doors that have a handle and occasionally doorknobs if he is persistent enough.
My dog gives attitude and talks back. If you're telling him to do something he doesn't want to do he'll do it reluctantly and groan. Like if I tell him to get out of the kitchen, he'll slowly move out of the kitchen and lay down, hard, and groan. If you tell him not to give you that attitude he'll huff and sigh. If you try to move him and he doesn't want to move he'll purposely put all his weight down and will make sounds like groaning. He's a very verbal boy.
Lol mine too, I always wonder what the neighbours think when they hear us having conversations with a dog
My cat loves eating French fries but people usually don’t believe me until they see her scarf a few down like they’re the tastiest thing ever placed on this earth.
I got one who we swear is so old he has dementia and will eat pizza, meatballs, of course string cheese, buns of any kind, im tryna think of the weirdest, but he will sit on the couch and meow for ANY food he never tried. If you ignore he will put front paws on the table and headbutt you in the shoulder then sit back down.. He didnt trust me that he wasnt gonna like the spicy popeyes chicken sandwich though... I picked a piece from the middle, chewed a little and tried to suck as much spice away. He touched it with his tongue, DASHED to the corner of the couch and looked at me like "You sonuva bitch" Then came back asking for more.. it was a NO..... I used to have one when i was in grade school that would drink my milk as I ate my cereal.
Cats can have such weird food flexes. Melon, tomato, cucumber, chocolate (yeah I know that's not good for them, but she was a thief), cheese, green olives...
I used to rinse olives to get them less salty before giving to the cats. Who loved them.
Load More Replies...One of our cats loves frozen blueberries, every time we get them out to make smoothies or whatever she is right there waiting for her share. She also enjoys apples, only Macintoshes though. I was making a crisp with empires a few weeks ago and she came in asking for some, not believing me when I told her it wasn’t the kind she liked so I have her a little piece. One sniff at it then she looked at me so betrayed.
My cat LOVES chips-any kind of salty potato chip. His name is Mowgli but I call him Chipper sometimes, and FatCat. He comes to all 3 equally.
I had one cat that was mad for green asparagus and another one loved cooked potatoes - so, why not?
Ours too!!! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10164164314720158&set=a.10150635465110158&type=3
Sorry to be that person but you should not give fries to such an overweight cat...

To be fair, Ukrainian is one of the most mellifluous languages in the world imo, any time my mum reads to me in it I feel like I'm floating
Could be an ASMR response to hearing your mom read in Ukrainian. :)
Load More Replies...Our cat, Loki loves watching baseball on TV. Tries to swat the pitch almost every time. Our dog, Rowan, has a standing vertical jump over 6ft. He's an Australian shepherd. Our other cat, Alf, loves to play with water in the sink and shower, but hates baths. Our other cat, Buddy, loves to have his belly rubbed and pretty much acts like a dog. He also likes to lick people.
My cat will attack technology if you don't give him what he wants. He's knocked over laptops, tv's and his favorite laser printers. He's broken many throughout his 20 years on earth.
His sister does Super Mario wall jumps in the morning. The rest of the time she is the laziest little ball of grey fluff you ever met.
Whenever I come home, my dog will bring me a gift. The gift typically consists of shoes, but if there are no shoes around for her to pick up, she will grab pretty much anything she can. The best items so far being an entire yam, and a full case of beer.
We call that, "Comes baring Gifts" My Baby Boy Kaylib (Caleb) did that every time Anyone he loved walked in our house. It Was only to the lucky chosen few that he selected to do this with. I was one of those no matter if I just walked out to get the mail or coming home from work, every time, my Niece was the other one that got it no matter what, my ex was only when he was gone for longer periods of time. He also gummed you and walked you around the house. Meaning he would gently put his mouth around your arm, hardly any pressure at all, and just walk you around as if he was showing you around to see thing's.
We have a cat that will laugh at our dog when he goes into his crate for the night. The cat will actually sit on a chair right in front of the dog and stare at him and laugh. He's a jerk.
Ha! ha! I'm free and you are in a crate, I ain't a jerk I just know when to let my superiority shine!
I had boxer that would walk herself. When we would get about a block away from the house, she would start jumping, barking, and turning circles. She would then grab the leash from you and carry it home. She would walk ahead a couple houses, then stop and look back to make sure I was still there, then continue on home. Boxers are the best dogs.
A few years ago I had a cat that instead of bringing me dead animals (he probably noticed that I was not very happy when I saw them) went under a specific fig tree of my neighbor and placed them in front of the door. My SO was angry because every morning ,when leaving the house, he stepped on a fig and did not understand how they got on the mat
My new cat, Ja'far, i don't think he knows how to meow. He either screams, sounds like a record skipping, or sounds like dial-up. And he loves to talk a lot, and i have only heard something close to a meow once in my life with him.
Mine also doesnt meow very much. She usually squeals like a little piggy. It's adorable but weird too.
My kitty chirps like a little bird, or makes little brrrmp noises. When she does meow, they are teeny little squeaks.
Load More Replies...I wonder if Ja'far has some MAINE C00N CAT genes. I've heard they trill, not meow.
My cat likes to play tag. I start chasing, she hides behind a chair and jumps out. I act surprised to make her happy.
All 3 do this actually, the second I pull into my driveway my cats hop onto the hood of the car and step onto the side mirrors and start scratching at the windows. If I don't open the door fast enough for them, they'll climb onto the top of the car and hop onto my head when I do try to get out.
I have a cat that was rescued after it came in on a ship to my mom’s manufacturing plant. It is terrified of anyone other than those living in the house. The moment she hears a car in the drive way she will run and hide either under the bed or somewhere upstairs for hours on end(no food, water, or bathroom breaks). My brother for the last 4 years believed she didn’t exist and that we were finding a cat online and posting it/ photoshopping her with us.
She's slowed down a bit in her old age, but for most of her life she ran towards loud noises. Plates fall out of the cabinet? She ran right in there to get in the middle of it. Drop a heavy piece of furniture on a tile floor? "Hey guys! What's going on?" I always said it was a good thing she's an inside cat, otherwise she'd run towards the first car she heard on the road going, "Oh hey, what's this!?"
My cat gets super hyper after taking a dump. She will do a few laps around the house... stop meow really loudly... then scratch her post.
My betta fish used to rub on my fingers like he was scratching his back when I put them in the water. I was only 3 or 4 so they just thought I was forcibly petting the fish, but we were buds
I had a catfish that would swim to the side of the aquarium nearest the door when he heard me come home. He hated my husband and would head butt his hand if he was cleaning the tank. One day hubby got his thumb shredded when he got too close .
I had fish toys in with my Beta fish. Little glass floaty things. Every time I cleaned his bowl he would take out his displeasure on his toys afterward, shoulder butting them.
Because he was a Beta, a fighting fish. I had one once. I lined the bottom of his tank with marbles. He dive-bombed them until he died. I had no clue. Apparently, the poor thing thought he was in fight mode all the time. I feel terrible now :(

Our dog likes to watch tv. No matter what’s on or who’s watching it, she actively pays attention to what we’re watching
my cat does that too! her favorite movie is the new live action mulan. but she really just likes any action movie. star trek too.
My cat really loved Downton Abbey. She never pays any attention to the tv normally, but when that show was on, she sat down on the arm of the sofa and was basically glued to the television.
My cat loves the computer when you are typing and using the cursor - he slaps the crap out of the screen!
My cat LOVES oreos. I dont LET him eat them, but he tries to. he even recognizes the packaging.
I had a cat that did this. She would jump on my lap and try to eat them while I was eating them. Gave her a few crumbs now and again, not alot, just for her to taste. I know they are not supposed to have chocolate, but we didn't know that than.
A few crumbs aren't harmful. I looked up quantities because we adopted a puppy, and it's not just a bite.
Load More Replies...My (deceased) cat Sammy would push open the lazy Susan, climb inside, and open and eat cheez-it's out of the bag. No one ever believed my family when we told people but that cat sure loved cheez-its
My cat has a really ridiculous meow. It deep and guttural. Sometimes it sounds like he's trying to say something. Most people who hear for the first time are like "WTF!?" Also, he likes to eat plastic. I have to hang the shower curtain over the showerhead because he'll chew on it. 6-pack rings, ziploc bags, zip ties, shower curtains. I have to hide anything plastic away from him. He tried to eat one of my guitar picks one time. Thankfully I caught him before he swallowed it. He got it caught on the roof of his mouth. I heard him making an awful noise in the middle of the night that woke me up and I managed to get it out of his mouth.
My cats both liked string and stringy things like tinsel. There is no skippy place to run to, when you see shiny tinsel hanging out of your cat's butt! The other one, inly ate string or yarn. One time, i was coming home through the garage door and she got excited, ran to the door to meet me, but forgot she had a tea bag string, tag still on, hanging from her mouth! I have never seen anything cuter! She didn't have many teeth by then so eating a string was harder, and made it easier to catch her and pull it out of her mouth! Both have passed snd lived 19 years each! Good lives and well loved by us!!
I used to be able to ask my girl Luna where Daddy was and she would look right at my husband. He said it was a coincidence but I've asked her where he was when he wasn't in the room and she'd look out the doorway, like, "I dunno, he's out there, I guess."
When I was married and I didn't want to let my dog out, I would tell him to "go ask dad" and he would find my husband and annoy him until he let him out. Absolutely knew 100% who "dad" was. We are divorcing now and I won't let that cheating a$$hat have visitation.
He hates plastic of any kind. I don't know why but if he ever sees a plastic bag on the ground he'll start barking at it and herd my family to come pick it up. I'm both confused and impressed by it. I've tried to tell people about it and they don't believe that my dog would lead me to a piece of trash so I can pick it up. They just don't think he's smart enough to care about some litter in his house
My dog hates it with a passion when you pop bubble wrap. He is a rescue, he will run over tear it from tour hands and hide it!
My dog pees on plastic bags. Anything shiny really-sleeping bags, jackets etc but he is talented when he pees ONLY on the plastic bags.
My dog doesn't like having her picture taken. As soon as she sees a phone or camera poised for a snap, she skulks away and hides. She is asleep in most of the pictures of her I've managed to take, though even when napping she seems to have a preternatural sense of when a picture is being taken and wakes up at the last second, resulting in a lot of blurry shots of her jumping up and running away. I know it's because she doesn't like the flash (she also hates flashlights and fire) but she does it no matter what now, even though I never turn the flash on anymore. But no one ever believes it until they see it.
I have a cat that will glare at you with the meanest side eye if we take a picture. I have very few that are normal.
My dachshund likes to be held like a baby would. Another dog knew how to roll the window down in my old car and I had to use the baby lock.
My cat bites chunks out of paper towel and toilet paper and eats it. Doesn't play with it, eats it. His favorite toy is also Q tips. I keep them in a mason jar and he learned the sound of the jar opening and now power runs to the bathroom whenever I open it.
My Dach knows the sound of roll of toilet paper ending from the other side of the house and will come running at full speed.
My cat licks his chair. So we have this old chair that has like a cloth/velvety kinda material on the back that you lean against that he has claimed as his own. Every now and then I’ll hear a noise and when I look over he’s literally just sitting there, paws up on the back of the chair just licking it.
Our cat will pretend to be licking her paw when she’s actually licking the sofa. Because we’ve caught her before, she’s now more subtle… 🤣
My cat knows How to climb curtains, but doesnt know How to climb back down. Nobody believed when I told that he stays up Just calling anyone until he decides to take a responsible risk and jump down to the couch.
My cat did this, we'd come home and hear this pitiful meowing and she'd be at the top of the curtain pole austenite stuck!
My dog's idea of playing is him holding onto the toy while I drag him around the carpet on his belly.
Cat would open our bedroom door in the middle of the night and stare at us from the doorway. Scared the s**t out of me sometimes. Switched our door handle to a door knob and it stopped. Would've just left the door open for him to come in but he also liked to pee on clothes -_- and it is a bitch to get cat pee out of clothes.
My rabbit loved to sit in her food dish. We got her when she was just a few weeks old, so she fit perfectly in her little bowl. She'd get comfy on the pile of pellets, and stick her head between her feet to pick up a mouthful. Eventually she'd fall asleep like a brown fuzzy pom-pom on top of her food bowl. When she got older, I'd buy discounted boxes of mixed greens meant for salads. She'd hop right in the box and much away without a care in the world.
My beta fish Sharkbait Bubbles MCgee when he sees me gets excited because he knows its food time and will put his face to the glass and I kiss him through the glass. He will also get bored and will fill up with air then let it out slowly and sink to the bottom over and over again. His favorit spot is in the top left corner of his 12 gallon tank were whenever I walk by we will do "Kissies" or boops.
My last dog was a massive, 90 lbs Chow Shepherd mix that behaved more like a cat then a dog. She hunted birds in our yard, but rather than catch them with her mouth, I would watch her leap up and squash them with her massive frame. It was majestic, like watching a blue whale breech. Just a big fluffy dog suddenly jumps and body slams a pigeon to death. Then she would bring me the dead bird as an offering.
There will never be anything "Majestic" about a big fluffy dog jumping and body slamming a bird to death. It sounds very disturbing to me. It would be very different if it were a prey driven instinct instead of imagining this ofish large dog jumping and floundering himself around, in a effort to squash a bird, imho.
Load More Replies...Squab! She later wondered why you never cooked them for her.
How is that majestic I get she is a dog but you can't really enjoy watching her kill another animal. What if she progressed to small children. She would be sadly uthanised. Pls Don down vote this is just my opinion as an animal lover

They are now full grown & live outside. Every morning I let them out of their pen to free roam our yard & property. Every single morning there is one hen that will come to back door & when I open it she will come inside. She walks through the kitchen, straight into living room & goes straight to my husband in his chair. She will sit with him for about half hour then starts clucking to tell him she wants back outside. Its so funny to see & I've got multiple pics & videos of her doing this. Chickens are very intelligent.
My mum had chicks that she hand raised and when they were older they also adopted another hen because it was a friend's but it was lonely. Later, they moved to a hobby farm and the two younger chickens were killed (by either a fox or and eagle). That just left the one chicken and she got lonely again, so she started coming inside to spend time with my mum during the day. Now they have more chickens again and Bertha was happy to return to staying outside during the day.

He'll carry them around, and at least once a day come down the stairs howling somehow with one in his mouth and then drop it at our feet. He tell him he's a good boy to bring us gifts. I have come home more than once though to see the monkey one sitting on a step watching for us...
We had a house with a brown carpet in the living room. Our long haired Chihuahua, Cricket, would go to my Dad every morning and sit at the entrance to the kitchen while he made his breakfast. He would pull out 3 dog treats, hand her the first one, and she'd sit with it in her mouth until he looked away. Then she'd sneak into the living room and scratch at the carpet under the coffee table like she was digging a hole, carefully set the treat down, then push her nose on the ground like she was burying it. She'd trot back to the kitchen ready for the next one, repeat it...then eat the last one. She saved the others to eat while my Dad was gone at work. I miss her.
we have a feral stray we took in and we have to keep her separated from our other cat b/c our other cat is very aggressive with her(both female.) We lock the other cat up in the master bedroom and den several times a day and let the feral have the run of the house. She goes crazy meowing before Jeopardy comes on so she can come out and sit with us for it.
I know this is far from unique, but the obsession that some dogs develop for chocolate is amazing. I had a dog who was almost poisoned to death by eating some, and it somehow turned him into an addict. If somebody dropped a piece and picked it up, he would lick that spot for a long, long time. My neighbor had some chocolate syrup drip into a glass base of their table, and their dog chewed through the glass to get to it. I think that a dog's obsession with something that is very bad for it is probably a metaphor for something people do, but I'll leave you to guess what I'm thinking about.
Does that mean my dog’s obsession with the garage door opener is going to be bad for him?

Golden doodle is also afraid of UPS boxes... When she sees them she freezes!
