Turns Out Beetles In Japan Are Such A Big Deal That People Keep Them As Pets And Feed Them Jelly Cups

Dog might be man’s best friend, but there are more friends to find in this world. For example… A beetle. However it turns out that someone having a beetle as a pet is not that rare after all. What is more surprising is the fact that these crawlers have a sweet tooth. Yep, you read that right. These little cute jelly cups may look like something you ate in your childhood, but beetles appreciate these cups way more than us. In fact, they come in many tastes and are manufactured solely for beetles, their most loyal customers.

Humans are not the only species who can enjoy a jelly cup

Here’s how this discovery was made by a Tumblr user

This article is disappointingly short and needs more pictures of beetles eating jellies.

"Turns Out Beetles In Japan Are Such A Big Deal That People Keep Them As Pets And Feed Them Jelly Cups" → Yep! They do. You see it frequently in anime as well. But not just any bugs and beetles. Only the "fancy schmency" ones. For example, a cockroach is no pet.

I used to keep madagascan hissing cockroaches. They are exotic, but cockroaches nevertheless. I'm considering getting some more soon. You can actually tame them and each has a different character! I've kept many exotic and less exotic invertebrates apart from cockroaches. Crickets were in the largest numbers. I've had dozens! My first cricket was wild-caught, but the rest were asian crickets taken from a pet shop(they are sold as food). They were popular among Chinese empresses, as bringers of luck and great sleeplessness medication(they "sing" really pleasantly). They kept them in bamboo cages. I kept them in terrariums and sometimes fed them some of that jelly! Even here, in my run-down country, Bulgaria, you can find exotic animals shop that has a variety of exotic invertebrate pets among their selection. They don't have such gigantic species of beetles, though. Mostly stick insects, mantids and their family, scorpions, cockroaches, spiders and the occasional giant millipede.
