Have you ever noticed a person driving a really expensive car but acting out on the road? What about knowing someone who criticizes what others are wearing and thinking that it’s actually cool to judge? What about carving on trees and thinking that they are badass?

People online are pointing out things that are actually more like being a douchebag than being cool. User u/finleyg113 of the Reddit group dedicated to asking all sorts of questions asked “What do people think makes them look cool, but actually makes them look like a douchebag?" And by the looks of it, people definitely think that certain things should be labelled as ‘douchebag’ and not ‘cool.’ Below are 39 brutally spot-on things about this topic.

Testing is often a really stupid way to check knowledge and ability. Sometimes a lack of knowledge and ability is definitely due to bad teaching. But it's also sometimes down to a lack of interest in learning. Don't blame teachers for everything; they're not miracle workers.

I´ve never told anyone my age my favorite band because I know I´ll get laughed at once they listen to one of the songs I like. I was even hesitant to tell one of my friends who is super understanding and stuff. I consider my music taste a flaw just because it´s unique. I´m always scared of that judgmental look on a person´s face when I tell them about something like that. I´m trying to get over it thankfully (caring about what others think, not my taste in music lol)

Also judging people if they don't listen to music. I don't really enjoy music, I'd rather listen to audio books and stuff like that. People think I'm a freak and just bombard me with their favorite bands that I'll "surely" enjoy and then act offended when I'm not that interested. It's so tiring.

Hassel Davidhoff

Well, here's the thing. Most folks don't know a damn thing about music. They like what they like for simple reasons. Mostly a person likes a song due to it's upbeat melody, it's "hook". Or they have some kind of nostalgic attachment to it. All of that is fine. It bugs me though, when someone wants to chat about how great whatever band is and I, a person who has been playing music for 25 years, have to bite my tongue for fear of offending someone's delicate love of U2 or whatever. I remember I was with a friend back in the day. I foolishly pointed out that her three fave songs were basically the same song, same four chords, same genre etc. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just trying to point out something that might increase her musical literacy. She gave me a look like I had said something horrible about her recently passed grandmother. TL; DR most people aren't really interested in understanding music. It's all lizard brain. No pre-frontal cortex. It isn't worth getting into it.

Yeah, this is what makes me uncomfortable sharing my music soemtimes. I listen to a lot of pop (along with some classical and rock, I’m just a mishmash of whatever I think sounds good) and I feel like people judge you for being “basic” or liking popular things in general whether it’s books, music, or movies.

Example I had a real d*** of a boss who once said "man it wasn't yesterday i got laid with that woman" after a customer left, which made me and my colleagues somewhat uncomfortable, he also talked about how his wife better show those "TTs" for everything he does.

I'm not interested and I think it is super trashy to talk like that.

To begin with, this is essentially seeing women as disposable sexual objects men are entitled to.

I smoked cigarettes for over 25 years. Vaping was the only thing I ever tried that actually helped me quit smoking. I'm not a teenager who just started because I thought it was cool. Now is vaping good for you? No, it's not. But it's a hell of a lot better than the 7,000 (actual number) different kinds of chemicals and carcinogens that you ingest from smoking. I don't blow clouds around of bunch of strangers and I always make sure I'm considerate to everyone around me. Don't shame people for using something that helped them quit an absolutely horrible habit.
