This Instagram Page Is Solely Dedicated To People Standing Weirdly In Public, And Here Are 40 Of The Best Pics
If you’ve seen Monty Python’s Flying Circus, you probably know where this is going.
If you’re not aware, then let me break it down to you: the surreal comedy troupe called Monty Python used to make absurd skits back in the late ‘60s through the early ‘80s with comebacks here and there.
One skit, in particular, is about the Ministry of Silly Walks, which is exactly what it sounds like. It talks about silly walks and how one person is attempting to acquire a grant to develop a silly walk.
Well, it seems that the legacy lives on in the form of silly standing. The link may or may not be relevant here, but the vibe is definitely the same. And there’s a whole Instagram account dedicated to this!
Bored Panda collected and featured the best of the best ways people stand in public as posted on the People Standing Instagram. So, check out the whole curated list below, and while you’re down there, leave a vote and a comment on the ones you liked the most!

One of the most internet-sy things to happen is this Instagram page that features people standing. But it’s not just any old boring bit of standing, but silly standing—standing in ways that are either humorous, or ridiculous, or just begging the question “why?”
The page introduces people to all sorts of stances: everything from random squatting to one-leg yoga suspended over a bench to leaning so much it puts Neo dodging bullets in slow motion to shame. If you have no idea what any of this means, keep scrolling.
People Standing has been around for years, and, throughout that time, has brought over 540 posts to its follower base of 137,000+.
You can check out more ridiculous stances (and even some ridiculous sitting positions—it’s honestly hard to decide where standing ends and sitting begins) on the official Instagram page, but before you go, why not let us know what you thought about this in the comment section below!
That stretches your left foot calf muscle if you've been standing on it too long.
Moments before he throws the phone, jumps over the desk and runs out screaming while ripping off his shirt.
Some of these were good but then some i couldn't underSTAND it
As a massage therapist, I approve of many of these positions. Stretch where you can! Save your back! Esp the teacher ones, bending awkwardly repeatedly is the WORST
I think that most of these pictures are taken of myself! Why I found them so comfortable! Who else sits by the table with one leg normal on the floor, and other one - knee next to your chin 😅
How weird do you sit or stand when you read BP? That would be interesting post
It's interesting to see all of the male teachers and their weird stances. Although, honestly, bending down to desk level plays havoc with your back. Maybe female teachers choose dignity over comfort.
I can bet about 95% of these people have hip, knee and back problems and their standing positions helps to relieve the pain/pressure.
A lot of these look really stupid but are actually quite comfy lol
I've done quite a few of these after sitting or standing for awhile. In fact I think rest stops and airports should have designated areas for this so we could all look goofy together.
I've done some of these, just as a sensory thing. Sometimes you gotta have funky knees, yaknow?
People are strange when you're a stranger... that some was written for these people!!
