People Are Sharing Pics Of How Their Genes Seemed To Just Hit Copy-Paste (40 Tweets)
Part of what makes genetics so interesting is that a lot of their effects aren't visible. But some people can learn a lot about their biological inheritance by simply comparing themselves to their ancestors.
Shelby Contra, 23, is one of them. Recently, she tweeted photos of herself and her grandmother to show just how similar the two looked when they were about the same age. "Grandma's genes really hit copy n paste huh," Shelby captioned the pics.
Her tweet went viral and nearly 555K people have already liked it, leaving over 1.1K responses. Many of which are their own side-by-side images that show their uncanny cross-generational resemblance. Continue scrolling and check out some of the craziest ones!

A friend of mine took this picture at a clinic. Rare condition from mother to daughter.
My friend's newborn baby was born with the same birthmark in her hair as her mother.
There's still enough difference around the chin and lips, but very close indeed
I have a hereditary gap in my eyebrow. It’s a portrait of my great great grandfather on the left, my dad also has the gap as well. It doesn’t always show, I guess because my eyebrows are kinda unruly and curly so sometimes the gap is covered, I also sometimes fill them especially because I’ve had people ask if I shaved the gap to be “cool”.
My brother-in-law got a thumb from each parent.
Oh wow. That's half amazing and half freaky. Well done, genetic code!
My daughter and I have the same dimple in our foreheads.
Like father like son. Love you pops.
Ιn Greece we say "the father was asleep during the conception" when the child doesn't get anything from him!
Visual representation of genetics.
all you idiots spewing c**p and mean words: shut up. just be quiet.
is anyone else confused that she said i didnt realise it until my grandpa passed and then called her grandpa a she?
If he see this he can send me a message and we can exchange emails. I haven't been doing them long enough to do extensive repairs but I'd be willing to try restoring it.

Rodney..what? Maybe you should just go do something else.

I agree 1000%. It seems that over the last few months that more and more racist people are coming on here just to spew hate.

Genetics is fascinating, which traits stay strong throughout the generations. We are lucky enough to have photos going back four/five generations from me. On my maternal side, all the women have the same chin. It's weird to look at my chin and then at a great-great relative and see my chin on her face, or see her chin on my face.

What a fascinating history! I'm sure you're beautiful <3

The picture was very worn at the bottom and was on tin, not photographic paper. After some research, it was found that this was popular in the1860's-1870's. The lady in the picture is my doppleganger! If I donned Victorian garb you would not be able to spot the difference. Nobody knows who she was though. Sadly, anyone that would was long gone by the time we found the picture.
my grandparents had 4 sons, and the other day I was talking to my dad and I realized that out of all the brothers, the more they age, the more my dad looks IDENTICAL to my grandfather. Makes me miss him even more.
We found a pic of a relative from the late 1800's Looks exactly like my brother.
I think genetics is so amazing! These genetic look a likes are fantastic pictures and everyone is beautiful! Stop trolling them, whoever you are! How about posting a pic of you? Would you like negative comments spread about you? I would think not. This was amazing to see! My favorite though, hands down, was the eyebrow genetic trait!
I’m definitely my moms clone. I remember when my grandpa was still alive I was looking through some old pictures and I came across a picture of who I thought was me. He said no that’s your mom. She could have been my twin...well I hers lol
Same with me and my daughter. There are a few pictures that if I put them side by side it would be hard to say who's who. I just did one with her wearing my graduation dress (she wanted it) and we are the exact same.

When I found and met my biological family in 2018, we compared child photographs. What came out is that my half-sister, as a child, looked liked my own eldest daughter, and my extended adopted family all thought that the images were of my child, not my half-sister, who is 15 years older than my eldest daughter. -Dr M
My whole life, I have been told that I look just like my aunt(my dad's sister) and over the years I have realized that they are right. We are both short and stout and we both have chubby cheeks. We are said to have similar personalities. We are both loud and scream a lot. The only difference is the size of our feet and the fact that I am not as lazy as her.
We found a pic of my great great great grandmother after my grandmother passed. It looked like my cousins clone. The thing is, she adopted her daughter from an orphan train. So no genetic relation between us at all. IMO, we all kinda look alike.
I love these. I look just like my Nanny, but the one we actually have pics to prove is my brother. If you go back to when he was 5, he looks just like our mom, but pics of my dad at 16 look exactly like my brother did then. And as for me looking like my Nanny, my dental history is EXACTLY the same as hers but she still doesn't get why I had braces at 7.
Why do you all give Lester and Rodney the attention they so obviously looking for. Just downvote their comment and move on.

It's hard to tell my baby photos apart from youngest sister's, we looked so much alike at the same ages. Not so much now, lol, since I'm 12 years older than her.
This is my oldest son, my grandson and me. Guess the genes are strong here lol TJACollage...05d4f5.jpg
My grandmother had a twin brother. He had daughter who looked like grandma's twin sister. She looked more like grandmother, her aunt, than did her own daughters.
What especially gets me is that some of these pictures of "grand parents" look like they are from the 80's! Which makes it all look like they are from the same person since the pictures don't show much age. Man that makes me feel so damn old. My grandparents were all born in the 20's/40's ha!
I look nothing like my parents or grandparents. Certain features can be tracked, but overall I'm a bit of an anomaly. Everyone on my mothers side all has strong, strong resemblance to each other. Dad's side all look similar. Then there's me, with my grab bag of genetics. I managed to inherit darn near every recessive gene in the family.
I cannot relate to this at ALL! I look like no one else in the fam, and am often asked if I was adopted. sometimes I wished I had this sort of comparison though.
