Aww! A couple weeks ago a mother snd a few little kids csme in the store. Kids were excitedly running about picking snacks. One little girl, couldn't have been older than 5, almost runs into me. She ever-so-sweetly apologized, staring up at me with huge brown eyes. Then she says "Oh! You're so beautiful!" And frolicks off. I think I almost cried. I'm 43, obese, my face is permanently mottled red, and my hair is very thin and mostly silver. I don't know what she saw. (I'm tearing up just remembering this.)

I work at Walmart as a picker(I shop for online orders). WM can be overwhelming anyway, and when the store is busy, customers hate us, always saying we're rude and in the way, but one day I was in an aisle waiting for some customers to get by me and an older woman said to me "you have the sweetest smile" when she walked by and it was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. My mom or no one else in my life has ever said anything nice to me like that and I'm 57.

It really made my day.

At my first proper job the team in my office started becoming toxic and the one guy I was on good terms with called his girlfriend and I overheard him tell her that I was the only decent guy in the office. As someone who struggled with making and maintaining friends, this made me feel like I am no longer the a*****e schoolboy heavily influenced by my a*****e father.

A few (possible) reasons: the earring would help protect the wearer from drowning; the earring prevented seasickness; the gold could be used to pay for burial (assuming the pirate wasn't just thrown overboard); the hoops specifically were given to commemorate crossing the equator...

I won't fault my teachers, but as a student, I'm terrible. I left school in 2013 with 2 GCSEs, got onto an entry-level college certificate, and now have a first-class Honors degree, and a full-time job in the tech sector, and I am going on to study for a Master's in Law in September. I hate the way teachers and educators act like GCSEs are the be-all and end-all, and if you mess it up, good luck. I have ASD, sitting in a box room with a load of loud shouty people, and being expected to focus and take information in doesn't work for me, and never has. Having my own time to study, in my own space, works a lot better for me.

I speak rather rudimentary Japanese and one day while waiting in the queue at the convenience store near Mount Fuji, an old woman patted me on the arm and smiled at me. She pointed to my eyes, and said they were beautiful. As beautiful and blue as the sky above Mount Fuji! I nearly cried!

I am a large straight man, at my last job the two lesbians that worked there were STUNNED that I was single.

I have been riding that high for almost 6 years.

That's the TLDR version, the verbatim conversation was...

L1 - "You've got a girlfriend right?"

Multiple people have commented on my laugh before but it never really sank in until one of my buddies says "Man, your laugh is one of my favorite things to hear" and that's when I realized "Maybe I do have it pretty good".

My love for images and experience in layering goes well with both creating collages by hand and working with digital images as an Editor. When I’m not using my kitchen area as an art studio I also do various experiments making my own cosmetics or brewing kombucha. My daughter was having some trouble with a girl who was harassing her, threatening to self-harm if she stopped being friends with her. It came to the point we had to call the police. As per protocol, the police wanted to talk to my daughter and then me, because this girl was trying to pull an Uno Reverso. They said I obvious I care about my daughter a lot. Coming from authorities figures that typically look for the bad, it was a big boost in confidence and relief.

I have rarely been accused of being pretty. I have what used to be called a "plain" face. In my early 40s, I was two years from being divorced from a guy who made me lose all confidence in myself (in nearly every way, including looks). I was at the store, and I hear the guy behind me, "I'm behind the pretty redhead," meaning me. Well, he was obviously quite high, but I like to pretend that was not a factor. Gave me quite the boost! That was the first and last time I was called pretty (or even, "You look nice today") since I was a teenager.

I wish that I could give you a compliment on your looks, and have it be genuine. But since I don't know what you look like, anything I say would be trite or cliche. But I know the feeling. The last time someone complimented me on my looks, I was 6. I'm 41 now. But I do hope that you find someone who genuinely makes you feel beautiful, who helps build up your confidence instead of tearing it down.

Went to a shop with my dad where he had to do something complicated and annoying with a kiosk. I wandered off and he waved at me to come back. I did and just kind of hung around, not sure what he wanted me to do while he got all frustrated. Afterwards when he'd gotten it to work I asked "why did you want me to come back?" and he said "I was getting upset and I thought maybe you'd say something to cheer me up." That he seems me as someone who can do that for him really warmed my heart. On another occasion, my uncle was being an annoying jerk and he wasn't in the mood for dealing with his BS so he wearily said "deal with him, would you?" This time I understood the assignment and verbally demolished the guy. Dad had this big grin the entire time. Wow, I really do have the best Dad and the best relationship with him, don't I? :D

I'm a long time cosplayer, infamous for my Doctor Strange cosplay. In particular, there are two events that I go to that have formal balls. So I do a formal version of my costume. I have the cloak of levitation rigged up so it functions like a puppet, and I dance with it. I'm a terrible dancer, but as a martial artist I can make some dramatic movements. I usually get laughs and applause, but honestly I always think I'm probably annoying people. Well, recently, due to financial issues, I almost missed out on one of those events. I made it in the end, but I had posted about it. Well, after the ball, the person in charge pulled me to the side. I figured it was probably the end, I pushed it too far and was being told to knock it off. But instead she told me that when the ball staff found out I might not make it, they tried to get the event staff to give me a staff position, which would have meant free admission AND hotel room, just to make sure I would be there. I nearly cried.

I have a bunch of these. The most recent, my son just said I love you to me out of the blue. In uni, a girl I wasn't too close with but that was the "I'll give it to you straight" type just walked up to me one day and said "you know, at first I thought you were a total b***h (I have a severe case of RBF and a mild case of social anxiety) but now that I know you better you're totally cool". And the highest compliment of all weirdly came from the most popular girl in HS - while I was a shy introverted desperately trying to be an extrovert teenager - I can't remember what I had said but she said something in the lines of you are a queen! in full sincerety

I have a friend who is about 6 years younger than me (I'm 46) and I often babysit her 2 boys. A few years ago, one of her kids (he was about 6 or 7 at the time) asked his mom how old se was, then how old I was. When my friend answered, he said, "But how can Bex be OLDER than you when she looks like she's so much YOUNGER than you?!" Oh, sweet child, thank you for that, lol
