People Discover A Dog 100% Covered In Tar, Work Tirelessly To Save Her, Succeed
If it wasn’t for people who go out of their way to do everything they can to rescue animals in trouble, lots of them would end up badly harmed. Or worse. An Argentinian not-for-profit organization called “Proyecto 4 Patas” and some locals recently rescued a dog named Aloe who was completely covered in tar. She couldn’t move even an inch and it was a group of kids who alerted people to the animal’s plight.
Fortunately, members of the organization took it upon themselves to help poor Aloe out. It took 8 volunteers 9 hours of nonstop work, 50 liters of oil, and 3 baths to completely clean the doggo.
The silver lining was that Aloe is now healthy and safe, and the problem showed how determined and ready to help the people of Libertad in Buenos Aires really are! From the local kids and neighbors to the police and firefighters, nearly everyone who was there lent a helping hand. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with “Proyecto 4 Patas.”

An animals rights organization from Argentina shared how they helped save the life of Aloe the dog
The organization “Proyect 4 Patas” has over 313k followers on Instagram and nearly 2 million fans on Facebook. A lot of people support them because they stand against animal experimentation or using animals as clothing, for food, and entertainment.

A representative of “Proyecto 4 Patas” told Bored Panda that “Aloe is now feeling great, she is such a lovely dog.” According to the organization, Aloe “loves eating absolutely everything, and she follows us around all day, all she wants is to give love and receive it. Everyone here is just crazy about her.”
“Right now we are focusing on getting her healthy, she is really thin. Eventually, we will be looking for her forever family.”

“Proyecto 4 Patas” told us that they have been helping dogs and cats in all kinds of emergency situations for the last 13 years. “But we never have found a dog in Aloe’s situation. We just can’t imagine how much she had suffered, the desperation of not being able to move for so long.”
“When we were cleaning her, we were so afraid that she could die at any time, but after the first bath, she seems to relax so much. She knew we were trying to help her. After we finished, we thought that she would be exhausted and let her sleep, but no, all she wanted was to stay near us and cuddle. Aloe has truly reborn that night, and she has ahead of her a great life. She deserves it, just like all the dogs in the world.”

According to the organization, all animals must be guaranteed basic rights, including the right to life and the right not to suffer.
That involves fighting against those who would hurt animals for no reason. It’s still unclear if Aloe fell into the pit full of pitch or if somebody pushed her in.

If you encounter an animal covered in tar, you should immediately contact an animal right group or the local authorities who will know exactly what to do.
However, if nobody is around to help you, then massaging lots of vegetable oil into the animal’s body will loosen the tar and help clean in. However, you should avoid kerosene because will most likely damage the poor animal’s skin.

Share on FacebookStories like this hit me right in the gut, its like half is humans suck, and the other is humans are awesome. From the picture it looks more like the dog was already lying down and tar was dumped on it, but either way its really sad to see any animal like that. So glad that they were able to save it.
It says she was pulled out of the tar pit. That photo must be from after she was pulled out.
Load More Replies...Please God let's hope that this dog fell in by accident and there is not some horrendous human bring that did this to her.
The unexpectedly black face likely threw some of the volunteers off their mark. I can just picture them now, tirelessly trying to remove that last bit of black tar from Aloe's face only to discover that it's her tattoo or more appropriately, medal for surviving such a harrowing ordeal. I pray that her forever home has found her now.
I hope she goes on to have a long and happy life, poor baby. It's amazing how so many animals, in such dire circumstances, understand that we are trying to help them and so obviously appreciate it.
Oh yes, animals are appreciative and loyal. "If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man." - Mark Twain, American writer (1835 - 1910)
Many blessings to all the people in this story (from the kids and parents to the rescuers and volunteers!) and to all peole who rescue animals. The more compassion we offer animals the more we learn to offer compassion to fellow humans. These people are leading and teaching by example.
Thank you for your comment, Turbo. The opposite is also true: there is the indisputable link between animal cruelty and violence against humans. It's futile to desire peace and happiness for ourselves, while denying the same to other sentient beings.
If someone did throw her in the pit then i hope someone throws them in too the amount of cruelty that happens these days it wouldn't surprise me if someone did throw her in. Just hope she finds a lovely home and lives happily ever after. Good on those who helped her and saved her life you are brilliant x
Send a PM to Proyecto 4 Patas. There's another Argentinian dog rescue group who sent a rescued greyhound to somewhere in Europe. Maybe they can do the same if you let them know and help with all the money to send her.
There is a special place in heaven for the people that helped this animal - and there is a special place in hell for those that did this.
Wonderful that for every person that wants to hurt an animal there are many more that want to save and help them. I thank every person who helps animals and will try to be like you all are, if and when the situation arises.
I wish you were right, Lamb. If that was true, there wouldn't be so many suffering animals in the world. The vast majority of people do not concern themselves with despicable abuse and immense suffering of animals - including farm animals, they are sentient beings too, and consequently lack empathy toward their fellow human beings. I"m grateful for people who choose universal compassion.
I'm not much of a "pet person" which some people assume means I hate animals. Nothing could be further from the truth. What kind of monster could see this level of suffering and not be affected? That poor creature. Can you imagine being held against your will, unable to move and wondering if you ever will again? I've read the article twice (having to get a new tissue each time, haters), but it doesn't mention if she lost her eyesight or not. It looked like most of her face was covered in tar, so I wonder.
Similar thing happened to a neighbor's cat. I rushed him to the vet, and they wanted to charge me like $800 to clean it off. When I told them I had no where near that amount of money, the vet told me to put him to sleep. Ended up being able to contact the neighbor, and they somehow got it all off. Probably oil, like in this story. Cat made a full recovery for $0. As a matter of fact, I was just outside feeding and loving on him (and the other neighborhood cats) like 10min ago. 😻
Best dog story ever but also the saddest im really sad the dog had to go threw that
If this was done by a human I hope they rot in hell. But what those volunteers achieved is outstanding! Truly they are the very best of humanity.
You are angels . You really are . That poor dog would have died an absolutely horrible death and you saved her from that. I am so glad that people like you are around. Thank you for all you do.
I am so grateful for the work this group, and other groups like it, does
Thank you so much for saving the life of the dog, cannot imagine how much he must have suffered, now he is in good hands, god bless u all n the dog
To all those truly wonderful people who fight against animal cruelty: "Among the noblest in the land - Though man may count himself the least - That man I honor and revere, Who without favor, without fear, In the great city dares to stand, The friend of every friendless beast." - Henry W. Longfellow, American poet (1807 - 1882)
That dog was just lucky she could breathe! She could have had her nostrils stuck shut. That the gods for compassionate people.
At a loss for words! This looks deliberate. I hope the find whoever did this and treat them to the same, but they would have to clean themselves. So glad you managed to save this poor soul.
99% chance dog stumbled in an open vat of tar. Strays are common on construction sites. The assumption of animal abuse is Irresponsible journalism. The dog was emaciated already hence too weak to free itself.
All of you that took part in saving the life of this dog, you are my heros.
Thank you to these amazing volunteers. Aloe is beautiful and lucky to have been found. I'm hugging my pup extra hard tonight.
How long you guys tried to clean her head because of her nature fur color mistook as tar? XD Good job guys!
What a cute and bright dog <3 Thank God, the kids found her in time and called for help. Not everybody does that.
