Perhaps not. My father was a doctor. He said when he was in med school, he was absolutely against abortion. Then he saw girls die or end up sterile trying to abort unwanted babies, including a fifteen-year-old who died from lead poisoning after being raped on her way home from school & tried to abort the rapist's child with a #2 pencil. He was a nine-year-old give birth to her stepfather's child. And he saw children abused and even killed by parents who didn't want them. He said the last straw was when a woman bashed her newborn infant's brains out against the wall. When the police were taking her away in handcuffs, he asked her why she did it and she replied, "I never wanted that brat anyway." So he became a proponent of women's rights and her right to choose whether or not she wanted children. He still considered adoption to be the best option, and did his best to convince women to make that choice.

I think, it is a beautiful happy end, actually a happy start story :) There is no 'crying out' here, I guess. The biological mother gave up on her own baby. Ok, we don't know the exact circumstances, but as a woman I know, whatever, noone is able to take my child out of my arms, if I don't want so.

What's so sad about giving your kid a life you couldn't, or didn't want to, provide?

It is a VERY difficult decision to give up a baby for adoption and most moms recognize that they are unable to give their baby what he/she needs and chooses to find good parents for them. Having worked with moms who had either had an abortion or given up a child for adoption or tries to parent the baby and finds out she cannot give the baby what she needs. All of these three choices are EXTREMELY PAINFUL decisions and mom often is happy that her baby has found someone who can take much better care of her baby. I feel that it is VERY important to assist an adopted child to look for his birth parent after the age of 19 if he is willing to do this. Some meet the mom and she is not interested in having a relationship and have actually lied about ever having a baby that was given up for adoption. In my case it was a fantastic outcome. Both families have now connected and we get along fine.

I had exactly the same thought

I reckon that sadness would be walking hand in hand with relief.. Obviously, it's a great sadness combined to having to put ones child up for adoption. It must be tearing them apart! The way I see it, is these parents love for their kids so strong, that they put themselfs through hell and back for the sake of their kid's well being & future possibilities. When they've gotten as far as to making this decision, I'd assume their main concern is revolving around their child being loved, so I'd think the kind of love the new parents are expressing here must feel like a big burdon has been taken off their shoulders...
