Heartwarming Moment When Couple Sees Their Adopted Baby For The First Time

Adoption is both a beautiful and challenging decision. For the Olson family, from Florida, the decision came several months after they had been trying for their third child. The Olson’s second son, Levi, was born with spina bifida, and meanwhile, Sarah Olson wasn’t getting pregnant. Then she had an idea—what about adoption?

“So we took that weekend, and we took the next couple of months to really pray about it,” Mrs. Olson said in a YouTube video. “The more that we prayed, and the more that we sat on it, the more that idea of adoption to complete our family really blossomed in us. And it felt that THAT was the way that God wanted us to finish our family”

Tilly Pearl Olson was a “stork drop,” a situation when a couple takes a baby on a moment’s notice. The Olsons flew out to Tallahassee last Wednesday at 5am and were united with their daughter-to-be that day. While the extended Olson family is no stranger to adoption, David and Sarah say that it was Bob Goff’s book called “Love Does” that finally convinced them.

Very moving, all I could think though is that there is a women in another room nearby crying out of sadness not joy.

Perhaps not. My father was a doctor. He said when he was in med school, he was absolutely against abortion. Then he saw girls die or end up sterile trying to abort unwanted babies, including a fifteen-year-old who died from lead poisoning after being raped on her way home from school & tried to abort the rapist's child with a #2 pencil. He was a nine-year-old give birth to her stepfather's child. And he saw children abused and even killed by parents who didn't want them. He said the last straw was when a woman bashed her newborn infant's brains out against the wall. When the police were taking her away in handcuffs, he asked her why she did it and she replied, "I never wanted that brat anyway." So he became a proponent of women's rights and her right to choose whether or not she wanted children. He still considered adoption to be the best option, and did his best to convince women to make that choice.

All very true. Ying, yang. This couple is very happy, someone else maybe breaking their heart. There is no right answer. Just keep it all open and be accepting that one day that baby might want to meet the birth parents. Love is not finite, just as those of you who have more than one child have enough love for them all, those of us with more than one parent have a similar capacity.

I don't see how that "woman in the other room" is the one people are focusing on? That woman decided that she wasn't ment to be the one who will be called "mom" by the beautiful baby girl. We should be happy there is this couple who will love her with all their heart when her biological mother isn't able to do that for some readon. I think adopting is a beautiful thing! It can be sad and all that but it also gives the child a better future since the biological parents aren't able or willing to provide that.

I have two beautiful adopted children from birth. I wouldn't have it any other way than open adoption. At first I thought it selfish of me because I said I couldn't bear to know these young girls would ever go to bed at night crying their hearts out. Well, that didn't happen, we have lots of contact, my youngest was ring bearer at his birthmothers wedding and we've taken him to Australia to meet is extended family and sweet 93 yr old grandmother who never dreamed in her life she would meet this beautiful child in the flesh. Our families have grown immensely and adoption has been the most positive choice we have all made. I am blessed everyday to have children I longed for, coming from a family of 8 children, and everyday I thank God for these brave young women and their previous gifts to me. My kids are happy, healthy and well adjusted. I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you.

How can anyone think this is sweet when the poor, desperate woman in the other room has lost what is most precious to her and will likely never be the same. Awful. And why the f**k is that woman in a hospital bed.

We have no idea what the birth mother is thinking and feeling. She not have been able to give her baby a good home and life; and did an unselfish thing in giving her up. She might have been emotionally troubled; or, hopefully not, a victim of rape. Whatever her reasons, there isn't much point in speculating about her; hopefully she will recover and go on with her life. Meanwhile, she has given a beautiful baby to this couple.
