Eating too much.
Eat more healthy water based foods. A bowl of grapes will fill you up more than a bag of chips.
I tend to start too many projects all at once then have trouble finishing any of them.
omg yes I have 1 blanket that i have started crocheting, one hat, a lot of scarfs, and so, so, so many half done drawings.
Smoking. I'm now in the twilight zone. Didn't quite quit, but don't smoke as much as before. I chew nicotine gum to help myself.
I'm trying to stop procrastinate online school, and so far, Bored Panda is NOT helping.
It helps when the subject interests you. That is the only way I am getting it done. I know uninteresting classes are necessary for your degree but maybe start with the ones you like. Then after it's a habit, work on the boring ones.
I'm trying to stop being negative. It's very difficult though
From my working experience i know it can be hard. Think about something funny. Comedy takes a lot of weight of me whenever there is one. Also if you keep feeling negative, talk to someone and let them help you see the positive side.
Allowing small conflicts to subsume every waking moment of my life until I receive some form of vindication or relief. Oh and alcohol, I come from a long line of drinkers. The British.
Normally i finish work and after a day of drinking constant tea i like to chill and have a few beers. I havent had a beer this week and it dont even bother me. im only going to drink at the weekend. Good luck to you though
thinking that i cant ask for help. i don't like to ask for help because i don't want to bother someone that might not care about my problems
Oof same except you have a slightly different reasoning, mine is less good-person-ish but oh well. I get embarrased to ask for help because 1) idrk how, I always knew how to do everything and didnt need help with anything because i was ahead of everyone in school, but now i'm in different classes and I dont really know how to ask for help. 2) i always feel like i shouldnt need help and i'll just sound stupid (pretty much also cause i've never really needed help in the past)
I procrastinate a lot and get lazy in online school. Listening to music usually helps but here I am on BoredPanda so THIS IS AN EXCEPTION OK-
i always procrastinateeeeeee. im actually supposed to be in online school, doing hw rn, but im not (hehe)
getting into arguments with adults, using actual facts, and getting "what do you know, you're only a kid" pulled on me
Oof my parents do something similar. For example: when they tell me something (such as point out i broke a rule), i say something back that actually makes sense(point out they have never once followed the rule, so why should i have to), and they're like, "Because I'm an adult, and You're a child." Sorry yes, let me go get my age-picking device real quick and reset my birth year to 2002.
Not wanting to work out. I have to bribe myself, and then not pay up.
Totally understandable... me too! I just take a walk, it’s easier than the gym.
I bite my cuticles... it’s really bad. Sometimes it’s so bad my fingers are all swollen and bloody. I’m scared it’ll get infected...
Getting more birds! Whenever I see a bird that needs help... I get it right away! My house is now full with all them feathery friends that come from all kinds of bad situations.
I love doing it.. But I need to stop it! My wallet cant take it anymore :S
Going to BP than doing my homework.
Playing with my nails and barely eating anything. I know I should be eating more but my meds make me lose my appetite sometimes.
Bitting my nails. I've done it my whole life. It's gotten bad enough that I have minor nerve damage in my fingertips. They are just little nubs (some less than a millimeter). They bleed and swell and get infected easily. I really hate my hands because of it and have tried just about every possible solution on the internet. Nothing works.
your nails are just nubs or your fingers are just nubs? after reading this i just NEED to stop biting my nails, but i get stressed and then you know the rest.
Sitting up straight. I never used to before COVID, but being stuck at a computer all day is taking its toll.
im 13 and my mom says if i dont straignten up soon, ima be a hunchback or smthn
im trying to stop smoking and cutting myself im still smoking but im not cutting as much as i used to
Procrastinating. Eating when I'm stressed. Spending too much time on the internet.
Eating because I am bored and refusing to work out. Not the best combo.
I eat grapes or chew gum when i know im not hungry but want food, and i do a fun workout like playing justdance or something.
I can't believe no-one has listed online shopping!
"Therapist: Now what do we do when we are sad?
Me: "Add to cart?"
Therapist: No"*
Who can resist knowing a package will arrive?! Instant 2 minute excitement! Better than Lottery because you ALWAYS win!
*souce: Pinterest, uploaded by Patty Matt
LOL! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING in the world can cheer you up more than getting a package delivered to your doorstep!!
Cracking my knuckles when I'm either stressed or deep in thought. My joints actually strain and hurt after to the point where I can't use a pencil or type.
Making dark jokes. It seems like I'm looking for attention but I used to do it when I was miserable and now that my life is okay I need to stop it.
try 'dad jokes' instead. that would be hilarious because everyone is expecting something dark and then you say something cheesy.
I'm working on trying to actually sleep at night and stay up during the day (while functioning properly)
I listen to chill music and read before bed and i drink lots of water and have a cup of tea in the morning to wake me up so i actually function
Always checking if I've dropped something. Regardless of how many times that I’ve checked my pockets, I always think I've dropped something. Yes, it's tiring.
Mine is playing with my hair while in pe. I think its because it makes me nervous. Same with peeling with my nails. I want long nails!
OH MAH GOD I PLAY WITH MY HAIR IN EVERY LESSON AND MY FRIENDS TEASE ME ABOUT IT XD
Putting thin objects in my ears
Overtime at work. Kinda gets in the way of, you know, life.
I'm a workaholic. I would work all the time I can and I just get into this rhythm and leave little at home time or free time. I know what you mean
Biting my nails. I’m getting better though.
So there is this nail polish that taste really really bad and its meant for nail biting sucking thumbs and what not. Its clear and helped my friend alot with her nail biting.
Not eating or sleeping is a habit I'm trying to break but so far have not succeeded
I read your submission on “how’s life”. I am no mental health expert, but you should seek help. I know, it’s scary, but it’s probably the right thing to do. I personally send you love, and luck. ❤️
ripping my nails, hurting myself, and getting every single drop of earwax out of my ears. :/
Hey you, I hope that in this new year you find it in yourself to speak to yourself, as you would do to a friend. You are not the enemy, so don't treat yourself that way. Speak to yourself with love, and forgiveness, you are doing your best. What your best is, just depends on the day, some days it might just be getting out of bed, other days it might be going out, enjoying life, working hard towards your goals. But it might take the same amount of energy. And energy is finite,
Since COVID, I WFH and my classes are online too. I can’t seem to unplug at the end of the day. Bored Panda gets my mind off the chaos though.
Bathing at 5 o' clock
Picking at my pimples and scabs.
Omgggggg my skin is totally breaking out ALL THE TIME but I pick at everything. And I mean everything
Using less f*ckin' swear words, because that's not f****n' helping a shitty situation getting better. Oooh crap, did it again...
Studies have shown that people who swear more often than is considered "polite" are actually very intelligent. So, on that note, quit f****n' worrying and go use that big, cuss- laden brain of yours.
Eating my boogers
Twirling my hair whenever I’m in front of a teacher (I don’t even know I’m doing it ) Biting my nails 😕 (bra for me I allways cut my nails short so I don’t bite them)
Pacing around my room constantly, humming random stuff, grinding my teeth, and fidgeting like it's nobody's business. I'm starting to get blisters, enduring constant scolding from the dentist, and my muscles are always tired from the endless small movements. And the humming? It's just annoying. XD
Find the root of your stress. Also bruxism (grinding) and restlessness/fidgeting can be a result of neck alignment problems. Consider seeing a chiropractor, especially if this is happening when you sleep or is accompanied by headaches
Impulse buying/wasting money on things I don't need. It was one of the coping mechanisms during my depression after divorce... Now when I'm back on track, need to sort my finances and start saving money instead of making more debts.
when shopping or sorting through things, look at it and ask yourself "do i REALLY need this? do i want this? will i use it? does someone else have something like it i could borrow? does someone else need it, or could i donate it? " things like that.
Telling myself I'm not good enough for anyone's love
You are though. Depression can make you have thoughts like that. See a list of depression symptoms on an official medical website and take it from there. You ARE loved and worth it.
Grinding my teeth. I seem to do it whenever I play my cello, whenever I'm in class, just a lot. My jaw actaully is sore by the end of the day. Any tips?
fidgeting and zoning out. I end up getting scratches on my legs/arms from itching. it feels like I can't stop most of the time. I also start staring into space and I need people to repeat themselves.
Picking my lip and grinding my teeth, I’m so stressed that I have scars from picking my lip so much
smoking, the patches aren't helping much
Not exactly a habit, but im trying to be cleaner. i just cleaned my room, office and bathroom, and im trying to make a habit where i sub-consciously do things like pick up shoes and trash on the floor. Good habit, but it gets tiring when you've vacuumed your office for the fourth day in a row :D
I've picked up this habit, as well. In time, it's no longer tiring and for me, it helps keep my mind "quiet".
settling into a negative emotion when I'm tired :/
Yes, i have this too!! I mean, i know that the negative thoughts come mostly because i'm tired, but sometimes, i just become so overwhelmed by them that i can't see that very well. Some days ago though, i watched this video, and it helped me a lot, so maybe it can help you too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks-_Mh1QhMc. I tried standing in a powerful pose for 2 minutes when i was tired (like hands on your hips, feet firm on the ground, upright posture) and it really helped my mind to 'reset' (watch the video for more details). Also, talking to yourself like you would talk to a friend (if your negative emotions are directed to yourself, and not to others, of course). If you say it enough to yourself: i'm enough, i can do this, i'm worthy to be loved, making mistakes is okay.. then you will believe it eventually. I hope this helped you a bit, and i wish you the best!
unhealthy eating habits. I fuel my body with low calorie energy drink throughout the day and only eat on real meal when I'm home from work.
You can try some grapes, if you like it. Water based foods fill you up more so you do not want to eat for the rest of the day.
I need to stop biting my nails because I sometimes bite them to low and it looks bad, I also need to stop cleaning the inside of my nails for no reason just because I think their dirty
I clean them so much, but hey, it's good for my nails, cuz now they look spotless! Can't say the same for the length of my nails tho.
Nail-biting and instead of doing my homework being on bored panda which is surprisingly hard XD
my school computer banned bored panda and discord so theres nothing to do ;-; but it does have youtube heheh
Picking at scabs. every time i have a mosquito bite or a scratch i keeps scratching it until its a big sore, it gets really bad during the summer which sucks because then i want to wear long pants and hoodies all summer
Overeating, especially crisps (chips) and chocolate.
not running out of the bathroom when i flush the toilet and all the dinosaur sound roar at me
Compulsive Lying...
I'm 12-13
I've had this problem since I learned how to talk
nothing helps
Maybe try therapy? You want to nip this in the bud before you start to lose jobs, relationships, etc. It's not something that you can let ruin your life. There are ways to overcome this. Good luck, I really wish you the best.
Peeling my skin.
staring at the ceiling, being completely unfocused, fidgeting with myself, but that’s mostly bc I have ADHD sooo
Diet soda. Right now I’m replacing with Crystal lite to wean off, but slowly reducing the amount of mix I put in my water. Miss the caffeine but I hate coffee, and frankly don’t really need the caffeine anyway so learning to listen to my body and get more sleep if I’m tired.
Wow! 20 submissions for my first post! Thank you guys a lot.
