Hi! My name is Maja Wronska and I’m an architect, watercolorist, and freelance illustrator from Poland. I create mostly watercolors that focus on architecture and cities. Among others, my works were exhibited at the Biennale of Architecture in Venice, as well as on the set of several TV shows. I’m also an author of the Grönby motif for IKEA.
I've created some watercolor paintings of Venice, Italy. As an architect, I'm fascinated and inspired by that city and its architecture.
I hope you will enjoy my artwork!

I studied architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. While studying there, I created an account on Deviant, where I posted my artwork. I felt really encouraged by the community there, so I created an Instagram and Facebook page, and when I graduated, I started my own company. In my company, besides designing architecture, I paint watercolors and sell them.
Most of my paintings are based on a photo. When I have a photo, I think about the color scheme, I design it, then I do the sketch and paint it with watercolors, which takes several hours. Then I scan it in high resolution, Photoshop joins the files, I adjust colors and tones to match the original, and then I upload it as a print, add the original to my shop and post it on Instagram, Facebook and Reddit.
I’m avoiding using real place colors, and I’m not trying to paint realistic scenes like in a photo. I’m planning the color scheme to get a modern, a little bit comic and abstract approach. I want to show the mood, weather and daylight by using a limited color palette instead.
Hey, this is not Venice! It's Padua, the clock tower in the Lord's Square (Piazza dei Signori) The artist took some liberty with the arrangement of the zodiac signs. In the real clock face there is no Libra; legend has it that the builder wasn't paid as agreed for his work, so he removed the sign indicating Justice (as in, "there's no justice in Padua").
If you find these paintings admirable, check out the other works I shared on Bored Panda. You can do that by clicking here, here and here.
Venice is always one of top travel destination in my list, the city is beautiful. It felt like taking a tour to the city through your paintings. Those are lovely :)
