Weāve all been taught that itās not polite to listen to somebody elseās private conversations. But sometimes you just canāt help it but overhear some of it passing by, riding a bus, lifting weights at the gym, or casually shopping. And what makes these funny conversations as amusing as they are is that they're completely out of context.
This Instagram account, Overheard LA, is dedicated to such overheard conversations happening in Los Angeles, California. Stating that āWe all have ears,ā the creators invite Angelinos to share some of the best pieces that they have ever overheard in their daily lives. From weird questions and ubiquitous conversation topics - the Los Angeles population always has some funny things to say. We think itās hilarious, and for the rest, youāll have to scroll down and see for yourself!

In an earlier Bored Panda interview, a representative of Overheard told us that the project has really grown over the last few years.
āWhile our home will always be Instagram, we have begun to expand to other verticals such as text via the community app Clubhouse, where we host a biweekly comedy show and are exploring some really exciting product ventures.ā
At its heart, Overheard is all about connecting people through a shared location or experience, āwhether that is living in NYC (@overheardnewyork), dating on Bumble (@overheardbumble), or talking about celebrities (@overheardcelebs), our goal is to make people laugh and provide moments of joy and self-reflection,ā the spokesperson explained.
Overheard started way back in 2015 when its founder Jesse Margolis created Overheard LA and San Francisco on a whim after listening to one such conversation in LA at a health food store. Now, seven people are looking after it.
āWe are fortunate to work with great brands like Bumble, Le Labo, Netflix, etc. Currently, we see ourselves as social-first local media, and plan to expand into podcasts, local events, product, and more video content.ā
When asked what kind of conversations best reflect Overheard LA's concept, Overheard told us that itās really anything that touches a shared experience, like ādating, finance, spirituality, food, or local knowledge.ā

Actually, the covid vax apparently only has 1/3 as much s**t in it as the flu vax, which is why theyāre able to use a smaller needle.

I really hope this doesn't become the the next big thing: glitter-zombies who wants to be on a diet of animal brains and swooning girls who start an animal farm to help them out. Probably including a lot of scented candles and sewing stuff (can't let the beloved glittering lips fall off...)

This is so sad. A first my mom did not want to have kids either because she did not want to bring up children with the same unhealthy upbringing that she had. In the end she decided that she could break the cycle of abuse because she knew what NOT TO DO. I am happy to report that she was very successful. We have a vastly different relationship than she had with her mother. There is hope.

I get asked all the time, 'is that a greyhound, I've never seen a real one' yes she is and no she wasn't rescued she's a retired athlete who was never in any danger to be rescued from.

Am I the only one who feels like these are fake? I mean, I'm not from LA, maybe everyone there has an inexhaustible supply of witty (or not so witty) one-liners at hand, but these (at least to me) sound incredibly contrived.
