We're Remodeling Our Bathroom And Our Contractor Just Sent This
Inspired by this pic I left a Ziploc bag with photos and a "Greetings from the 2020 quarantine" letter in the sheetrock of the ceiling during our basement remodel. It's gonna be a loooonnnng time before someone sees it LOL.
Load More Replies...Growing up my mom changed the contact paper in the bathroom several times (stick backed, not "good" wall paper). She would let me draw on the walls before putting the new stuff up. I can only imagine the next home owner thinking they would take down the old paper and finding my artwork lol
I had a boyfriend who had carpeting in his bathroom. It was so gross. Not his fault…it was a rental.
Load More Replies...I'm redoing my bathroom and found newspaper in the wall from 1974! That's the last time it was done and it so needed it. I should have put something in like this because the re-do is awesome and I can't imagine anyone wanting to change it. I gutted everything including the windows, walls, floor and ceiling.
The folks from 1974 probably thought the same thing ... "Can't imagine anyone wanting to change this!" (Hopefully, they weren't talking about shag carpeting on the toilet seat or a mirror ball suspended from the air vent!) ❣︎
Load More Replies...It’s like a really fun Easter egg time capsule. I hope the new people add their own bit to it.
I saw some post that the father was carpeting a room and then, as a joke, had his wife and daughter lie down on the hardwood floor. He traced their prostrate bodies with a white marker, then put the carpet down. Go ahead, rip the carpet up!
Right?! Like ... get yer sh*t together, Mr. and Mrs. Shinseki, before ya go puttin' yer "John Hancock" on everybody's walls. ❥
Load More Replies...This is nice! I think my (now ex, though not cos of this lol) fiancé painted a penis before the new wallpaper went up in our (now my) bedroom. I have a vague recollection of doing a heart with our initials in, ugh.
He left a 𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗸 on the wall?! How very ... 7th grade of him! ♥︎
Load More Replies...When my dad and I remodeled my bathroom, we removed the medicine cabinet and found a message from the original contractor...just his signature and the date, "1937". We replied that we had worked together to restore it and left the date. A nice tradition!
Never thought of it that way - a "tradition" - but that's 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 ... and definitely nice. ♡︎
Load More Replies...Back in 1967 the next door neighbours son in law, prior to decorating, painted a picture of my mother, then aged 27 as a cartoon nude . .. and wrote her name under it....she's 84 and still lives next door. . .I wonder if any subsequent neighbours know she's the same 'Kath'...😁
When we redid one of our rooms we found a note from the guy who did the ceiling in the 70's, along with a $0.50 pick 3 lottery ticket. I really wish I could find results that old, because it would be wild if he tucked it away as a good luck token and it turned out to have been a winner.
What a neat idea. It just makes me want to see the before and afters.
What a FUN couple! We wrote something like that, not as clever, before we remodeled our kitchen, and left some info. Didn't even think of adding a photo!
This makes me want to hide messages in my house. "There is $1000 cash hidden in the wall somewhere in this house"
The similar posts I've seen before, it's usually, "We redecorated and I put this that looks like a skeleton or an axe etc, and a thing with loads of blood on it, for the new people to find." But thank you, I much prefer this one.

Found These 110(?) Year Old Crayolas In The Back Of A Family Secretary Desk. The Pack Still Has The Crayons
Be careful with old artist supplies (even crayons). Some of them can have dangerous ingredients. Lead, for example. The kinds of ingredients in some colours are unreal. Arsenic, mercury, chromium, radioactive materials... and then there are the morally objectionable ones, like 'Mummy Brown'- made from real, ground up mummies! Or Indian Yellow - made from the urine of cows only fed mango leaves and water, which slowly killed them. I'm sure there are more, but the point is; be cautious!
These Medieval Ruins Randomly Found Under A Schools Gym Hall
It's so odd to imagine that one day something completely different could be built on top of the spot where your house was, and people don't even know about it. Load More Replies...When my dad was a teenager he had a white VW Beetle. He had to sell it. Years later when he was on his 30's, he bought a white beetle, while cleaning the interior he found a water bill from my grandparents house stuffed behind the fire extinguisher. It was his old beetle!!!
We still HAVE of Beetle. 1964 . Bought new and continuous registration though they made us change the number plate when we moved States, It now has "historic registration" as we wanted to keep it 'original' :-) Lovely cars :-)
Load More Replies...The closest thing I have to any of this is that under the kitchen island there are the names of the people that have lived in my house and when they lived here. It only goes back to the mid 90s, but I think it's neat.
History is absolutely astonishing. Hope to find something like the things on this list one day

I lost a magnifying glass in a cow pasture as a kid and found it 15 years later just sitting on top of the ground.
This is why, since my parents and I are renovating their house rn, I have taken the time to scrawl nice notes under each section of floor we're replacing. We get to know that there's love in the walls and floors, and hopefully someday, someone will find it and it'll brighten their day.
