There’s a saying that goes like “aging like fine wine,” meaning that certain things get better as they age. But what is the inverse of that? Are there things that get better and more approachable as you age?

For example, I hated raisins like most other kids, but now, about 14 years later, I’m a certified raisin fan! I’m not sure why I’m so enthusiastic about that.

But anyway, this article is about the things that people have become more fond of as they’ve aged. Check them out!

30 Things Young People Don't Find Enjoyable But Older Folks Do, As Shared In This Online Group Oldie here... I worked for a Canadian clothing store called Marks. I used to point our new arrivals to my daughter to see if she liked them, and she would say "Ugh. Those are old people clothes!" One day she came in, looked around and said "You guys are starting to get some pretty good stuff." I laughed because nothing had really changed, and watched the expression on her face change as it slowly dawned on her.

30 Things Young People Don't Find Enjoyable But Older Folks Do, As Shared In This Online Group In my country (Brazil), old people sit in front of their houses and do absolutely nothing for hours, just watching people and cars go by. This is more common for lower social class, for instance my grandma and her friends gather everyday at someone's door and just sit there until the night comes (they are retired).

When I was a kid, all the adults around me loved black licorice. I hated it and thought I would rather eat my own shoes than eat black licorice. I figured that it was a grown up thing and that I would start to like it when I grew up. Grew up and would still rather eat my shoes.

I stopped that easily by telling them that until I found a job that would allow me a decent work / life balance that allowed me to earn as good a salary that I was earning at that point in time when I was 35 or so (I was Head Chef in a very good - read Michelin - Restaurant at the time), I would be perfectly happy knowing that I wouldn't be bringing another human being into the World with a father who was absent most of the time. That and I knew I'd have been a rubbish father as I have absolutely no paternal instincts at all plus I don't really like children until they are 18 and I can take them for a beer and have a sensible chat. Worked out well though as I'm Godfather to 4, who I spoil and love to pieces, and before you think it, no, I didn't have any accidents over the years and am happily, deliriously childless, which means if I want, I can go to the pub instead of babysitting the grandkids ..... yay, go me !!

It's best to combine both Google maps/waze/GPS and old fashioned map looking. Locally there is a several mile section of the freeway that often bogs down. By looking at the map I found a pleasant alternate route. Close to the same milage, about the same time as stop and go traffic, but much more pleasant. GPS never sends me on the alternate, but it does give a heads up on when the freeway is slow in that section.

I did a lot more of this in my teens and 20's because I grew up with gym classes or several sports where there were no seperate dressing stalls. Even the local pool where we did swim team didn't have dressing stalls with curtains or showers with curtains inside the individual locker rooms. Now it's become a sort of no no to be naked in front of people in these situations. But feelings around nudity vary a lot by region and culture so I wonder if the old people in this poster's situation experienced a culture change (like I did), think nudity taboos are dumb, or are just no longer self conscious.

Agreed - go to Germany / Sweden / Norway etc and use a public Sauna ; towels are only there to pat yourself dry once you get a tad sweaty - this is in mixed saunas with people of all ages and body shapes. It is truly, brilliantly liberating.

Boot camp very quickly desensitizes you to being naked around a bunch of people (we didn't have individual shower stalls when it was bathing time). I don't give a single, solitary s**t about other people seeing me naked in a locker room, but I try to maintain a semblance of modesty mainly because I don't want to make OTHER people uncomfortable.

I had been caught by a soap years ago. It wasn't good, nor particularly interesting, but soaps have a hook principle: each episode ends on a crazy cliffhanger, so we watch the next episode to see what happens. In fact, it was nothing, the tension falls and the episode is not more interesting than that, until the end: cliffhanger. And we start again. In the long run, we begin to get attached to the characters, we want to know what will happen to them, even if the story (the production, the actors, the sets, etc.) sucks.
