Best Buy Flyer From 1994 Shows The Hottest Technology From Days Gone By, And It’s Hilarious Now
With all of the advanced technology on the market these days, including the newly-released iPhone X, it's easy to lose sight of where it all began. A Best Buy flyer from 1994 has surfaced online, and when you see the cutting-edge stuff they were selling, you're either going to feel extremely old or wonder what the hell you're looking at.
From Packard Bell multimedia computer systems, to VHS camcorders, to Sony Walkmans, all the legends are here, and more. Remember your first cordless Motorola phone? How about the Super Nintendo you used to play with your friends after school? Don't forget the 'Lion King' soundtrack CD you used to blast from your compact stereo. It was truly a simpler time, one that existed in those magical years before we started meeting on Tinder, GPS-tracking each other on Snapchat, and uploading it all on Instagram. None of this rings a bell? Go ask your older sister, or just go back to texting.
Relive the glory days of commercial technology, and dive into the flashback of a flyer yourself below. Just don't say we didn't warn you about the major feels you may experience.

My first was a Tandy 8088 back in 1991. RGB monitor. Can't even remember how low everything was compared to today.
What about the 'park' command? :D We actually had to perform it - a command to physically stop the hard drive from running, otherwise we could get a fubar situation.
Load More Replies...Encarta!!!! I love this software!!! Before internet is a common thing.
What INCREDIBLE FEATURES... lol that's what my spoiled brat cousin said.
Sorry, but rergarding iPhone X like a newest technology it's a funny joke :P
In 1994, I would have rolled my eyes at the thought of needing a cellular phone. ...she types into her smart phone as she's laying in bed.
'Only rich, snobby people need those - ultimate disdain'
Load More Replies...It is called the "Meteor" because you could throw it at someone and kill them.
i see remote controls (on the left of the flyer) have barely changed design
Nothing will EVER beat the days when we "joined the club" and got 12 CD's (or LP's) for a PENNY! lol th-5a217c8c20e32.jpg
So true!!!! I managed to get the 12 CDs and cancelling so many times!!
Load More Replies...You know that you are getting old when see 1994 flyer with King Lion cd with discount
I paid more for my Sega genesis and Sonic 2 game just a few years ago 🤣
I once paid $9.99 for a single VHS T-120 (2 to 6 hours of record time!) Film developing! I still kind of miss the anticipation to see "how the pictures turned out". :D God! How many hours did I "waste" playing Super Mario on the Super Nintendo?
still use my VCR and have fantastic kid movies my grankids like watching
Working at a electronic recycling company, I see this stuff come through the warehouse on a regular basis. Sad thing is- most of the TVs, stereos, phones, ect. still have years of life left. But people HAVE to have the bigger, better things that China feeds America.

I LOVED my Walkman. It was black and red. Obviously I carried with it eeeeeverywhere.
I used to slip up when ipods came out, and call them Walkmans. It was embarrassing.
I remember having a pioneer car stereo deck installed in my 1979 camero. I bought a pair of two ways speakers and had them installed in the doors and a pair installed in the back. Played my fav 90's grunge tapes (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc..) while cruising with my friends, and i had an adapter that allowed me to play cds thru the tape deck.. the good old days in high school
That is the best, isn't it?! Especially when an album was well produced and didn't have a bunch of dead tape at the end of side A.

Come on now, the internet is WAY better than it was...until net neutrality is destroyed.
Load More Replies...Like the fingernails on a chalkboard. OH, "What's a chalkboard?" LOL
Load More Replies...340 MB hard drive, son! These days people will laugh at and toss a free promotional 2GB memory stick in the trash.
On Valentine’s Day c.2005 my husband bought me a Flash drive with something like 100 MB on it and it cost $40! Insane.
Load More Replies...With inflation, that computer's price would be $2,829.96 today... yikes!
my parents bought me that CD player for Christmas. I think its still at there house in a pile of stuff.
It all looks so expensive! Nintey bucks for a portable CD player? Is it just me, or does it sound expensive? (I was ten years old in the year 1994, so I wasn't buying any of this stuff.)
They charged that much because they could. It wouldn't be for another year or so (in my area) before CDs became the main music delivery system. In 1994, we were still calling music stores "record stores," even though the bulk of their stock was about 55% cassette tapes, 35% CDs, 9% vinyl records and 1% 8-tracks (a whole different class of scary music nerd).
Load More Replies...Anyone else notice that the price of a vacuum and microwave is pretty much the same nowadays? I mean, the micro would be better technology today (maybe?) lol
I bought a microwave for ~$40 when I started college in 2009. Granted it was slightly smaller and probably a little less wattage but it worked fine. Most microwaves are under $80 I believe. A 900 Watt one should be easy to be had for under $80 current value.
Load More Replies...We had that microwave. Only microwave I've ever owned that did popcorn right
Dang that fridge I used to have, we sold it when my family moved in the early 2000s, now most of them are stainless steel
wow, we had that refrigerator at my house when I was a kid. who knew I could get nostalgic over a refrigerator?
We might be saying the same thing in 10 years about the Apple iPhone 8 or Samsung Galaxy S8
I can imagine telling my future kids about them. Me: *finds iphone x in thrift store* "kids, this here was what we had I was a teenager, it was pretty back then" Kids:* just look with disgust at this "ancient technology"*
Load More Replies...Just asked my kid to describe the cassette Walkman with headphones on the ad she said looks like a headphone. I asked what’s in the middle of the headphones, and she said a charger for the headphones. I cracked up.
Load More Replies...To be honest the price hasn't changed that much for comparable products today
Why is it hilarious? Where do you think your iPhone would be now without these things?

Load More Replies...This could only amuse a 14 year old. I still have a lot of those things lying around somewhere. Hilarious it ain't.
Back When I was a kid, we had to walk across the room, 8, 10, even 12 feet to change channels...none of this fancy "remote" stuff. AND...we had to do it through shag carpet...SHAG I TELL YOU!!
