Many of us have experienced the desire to present ourselves in a more favorable light to our significant others, bosses, and friends. It's natural, and there's no harm in it. Human pride can be a powerful motivator, leading us to act or speak in ways that may not truly reflect who we are. Some of these moments have been captured on the subreddit 'Not Like the Other Girls' in some funny and entertaining posts.
The subreddit has a thriving community of 860k members who share posts where people attempted to appear cool but came across as cringy. We've gathered a collection of our favorite ones so without further ado, let's dive into this cringe-fest and have a sneaky chuckle. Don't forget to upvote the ones that brought you the most laughter.

It’s like living off plates of sugar and wondering why you’ve died of malnutrition.
Load More Replies...Lol at my work, all of our best/red seal mechanics are women. We actually only have one guy and he’s an apprentice. I love it.
Load More Replies...Rating jobs as more or less important is expected from a 9 year old, not so much from an adult... For the normal functioning of society, a garbage collector is as important as an accountant, for instance.
In different ways, but yes ultimately society doesn't function well without the "simple jobs" being done too. "Essential workers" over Covid are the best example of this ever.
Load More Replies...then i will stay happy and not google that person.. thanks!
Load More Replies...Oh, Andrew Tate's simp girl. She is weird, and crazy, she had that video in the media recently where she sang a song to Nick Fuentes that was pro-Hitler and antisemitic.
I only know one song with Hitler in it. This one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Has_Only_Got_One_Ball
Load More Replies...And BTW, those jobs that are considered "women" jobs, like teachers and nurses, are equally important as plumbers and electricians, honey. Granted that any woman can do traditionally masculine jobs, it's just that women are generally less strong than men. Statistically, for a job that require a certain amount of strength, a manager will hire a man, rather than a woman, simply because a man will require less time and less physical labor to complete a task than a woman will.
As a woman who was putting down and picking up, up to 1000 6kg traffic cones a day, on a truck moving in traffic, I beg to differ on the physical strength of women.
Load More Replies...Ok ladies, I adore men. I couldn't live without my husband and I work in the transportation industry, so I am around a lot of men. You do not have to insult women to complement and appreciate men. You don't have to put down men to support women's equality.
Women, although at a lower percentage, also do all those things that she listed....just saying
Pearl needs to get out more. Worked with tons of girls when I was still a carpenter, and some of my best friends are welders and fabricators and *gasp* women!
Very sweet. And I did not know the US had no female plumbers, electricians and the like. Very backwards country, isn‘t it? 😏 /j
Ive done all those jobs except roadwork.Being a good teacher is much more important. When Iwas a roadie for rock bands . I loved to get women stagehands because they were much more attentive and better at taking instruction. As long as they are physically capable of doing the work let the girls get her done.
You're an embarrassment to womankind. Newflash @pearlythingz - Women build buildings, women pave roads, women are plumbers, women are electricians and one of my former babysitters worked on an oil rig in Texas. People with attitudes like yours are the reason women don't succeed as well in these occupations. Now, go back to pumping out babies to boost the population of anti-vax flat earth MAGA Morons. You stupid c*nt.
My mom was the first woman to graduate from the California Highway Patrol Academy, she then worked 30yrs in law enforcement, and retired as a Special Agent for the State. She proved women could do a man's job just as well if not better than them, while being a better parent than anyone else's I've met plus coaching all our sports teams, being a girl scout leader, and at all of our field trips, not to mention being home well before 5pm everyday. She worked smarter and harder than everyone else to be a better police officer, investigator, wife, parent, and friend... PS. Alot of the police today make me embarrassed to just say I'm the DAUGHTER of cops, they're sick racist xenophobic murderers. Police Officers are supposed to protect US not scare us (they promised to protect and serve), it seems like there was a shift in who wanted to become a police officer, less whom just want to help people & although most police are great, it only takes a few...
Pearl is an absolute waste of space human being, and the things she says are so deeply antifeminist which is insane coming from a women! She said one of the worst things to happen to women was earning the right to vote....
I’m wondering whether this woman’s a massive moron or whether she simply didn’t finish composing her thought properly? My first reaction to reading it was “Dumb b***h is announcing to the world how men have much more ‘important’ jobs than women?” but then it occurred to me that perhaps she was trying (and failed) to say that many of women’s jobs are MORE important than those of men and she simply forgot to finish the thought, but maybe I’m giving her too much credit?
I was thinking neither! I'm questioning whether she is actually a woman, though I'm quite certain she's a troll either way. Some people just want to stir the pot and boil up some chaos.
Load More Replies...I just love seeing all the women and simps here celebrating a man saying that a woman's JOB is to make babies! Congratulations, you played yourselves...
Wow, your interpretation is...interesting. I guess if that's the message you want to see, that's what you'll see. I read it as "my wife did this one thing that is vastly more important than anything I've managed to do." I don't remember him calling it a job? But even so, a job is work and it's not always paid. All the parents I talk to say child-rearing is hard work. I worked so many jobs that I CHOSE to do, that doesn't mean I was expected or born to do it.
Load More Replies...It all depends on what we value as a society. Raising good people? Creating healthy meals? Teaching empathy and love? Being there when people need emotional support? Cleaning and getting necessities? These are just as important and have always been a part of human life. And they're also all socially created and enforced! They aren't f*****g inherent to what chromosomes you have! Women were a deep part of public scientific, political, and practical history, AND had to fight to get there. AND then be ignored by history books until recently There's so much shortsightedness in this post I could scream.
Ok but what? How is that even the same thing? Was she paid to birth a child? That is a weird one. I upvoted so don't hate please. Just apples vs velcro.
I think he meant that yes, those jobs are important and valuable but no job is valuable and important as the act of being capable of growing a human inside the body and giving birth to such human and feed uch tiny human with body secretions. Without it no plumbers, no electricians, no doctors, etc would exist. It's a little simplistic but it's true. And I also think he meant that those physical demanding jobs are "nothing" compared to the physical demanding act that is giving life.
Load More Replies...Yes, make it damn near impossible for women to get into certain jobs, then blame them for not being good enough.
Load More Replies...You think a road is more important than your own life? Okay lol.
Load More Replies...At times, we tend to think of ourselves as smarter, funnier, kinder, and paradoxically, even more modest than we truly are. This is called the Dunning-Kruger effect. But in psychology is it known as the Superiority Illusion.
Golden Skin Shimmering In The Summer Sun
This Probably Doesn't Fit Here But
In 1995, McArthur Wheeler robbed two banks in Pittsburgh in broad daylight wearing no mask. He was identified from security cameras. When police asked him about it, he said he rubbed lemon juice on his face. It supposedly should have worked as an invisible ink. He tested it before the robbery by putting juice on his face and then taking a Polaroid picture - it showed no face. Let's just say this man is as good at robbery as photography.

She’s Got Like 6 Days To Eat All Of That
A few psychologists, Justin Kruger and David Dunning, were so intrigued by McArthur Wheeler's funny robbery story that they held a social experiment with psychology undergraduate students. They performed problem-solving tests using logic, analysis of grammar, and assessment of whether jokes were funny. Surprisingly, the results revealed that those who scored the lowest overestimated their performance. In their research paper, Dunning and Kruger wrote that "…people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it." The phenomenon subsequently became known as the Dunning–Kruger effect, sometimes called ‘the unskilled and unaware effect.’
It is also interesting that the Dunning-Kruger effect involves smart people underestimating themselves.

A short time ago, Bored Panda taught me that Colleen Hoover is the last author in the world that I would want to read. We are not the same.
Okay Then Make Friends With Girls Who Want To Do This???
Me too, but then again I have girlfriends who would all rather do this so that solves that problem, but I also have girlfriends who would rather get their nails done which is fine and they can show me after or maybe I will go with them just for shits 'n giggles, who knows? It's like we're people.
Found One Out In The Wild
Unfortunately, the Dunning-Kruger effect is part of being human. The good news for us is that it can be remediable. "Paradoxically, improving the skills of the participants, and thus increasing their metacognitive competence, helped them recognize the limitations of their abilities," Dunning and Kruger wrote in their paper.

Perceiving yourself to be better than you are is also linked to optimism. It is considered by many to be one of the most desirable traits to have. We just don't want that negativity. However, according to Leuven University’s Vera Hoorens and colleagues, it can come at a price: "It may make you look naïve, and you may be in for disappointment when your sunny predictions fail to materialize."

Another pitfall linked to optimism emerges when you become ensnared by the hubris hypothesis. According to the above mentioned Belgian scientists, it involves "comparing yourself favorably and explicitly with other people. This leads others to believe that you hold disparaging attitudes toward them because you’re letting them know that you think of yourself as superior. It’s a particular form of pride in which the claims you make about your worth come at the expense of acknowledging that of other people."

Real feminism is letting women do what they want (as long as it's not hurting anyone) without shaming them for their choices.

Load More Replies...I am honestly confused these days. I was a tomboy as a child in the 80s/90s, and I didn't have ANY female friends growing up; all my friends were boys. I don't hate or dislike other females. I ended up having what were then-considered "stereotypically male" hobbies/interests like playing video games, chasing insects, and watching football. I tell people that when they ask about my childhood and I get called a "pick me girl". Am I? I don't understand the term, exactly, and I don't know what I'm doing/saying wrong :/ I didn't hate the other girls or feel superior/different from them... I was just a weirdo regardless of what my gender/sex were/are XD But in all seriousness, I don't really understand what a "pick me girl" is and whether or not I am one.
Lakota, I can assure you that that is not a pick me girl - actually it sounds fun (side note, what kind of video games do you like to play?) And anyway pick me girls aren't self-aware lol so you're a step ahead. Pick me girls are ones who deliberately shun other women and try really hard to get male attention by slagging off their own gender and attempting to be "one of the guys". ACTUALLY being one of the guys is absolutely fine, of course. But these girls who go around saying it all the time can be compared to the "nice guy" thing - if you have to constantly tell everyone around you that you are one, then you're not one.
Load More Replies...There is nothing wrong with wanting to be different. The problem is only when you try too hard or you think you're superior to others because you are not like them.
this! if i'm a girl that simply prefers jeans over skirts, that's fine. but if i'm a girl that prefers jeans and then puts down girls that like skirts, that's when there's a problem.

This entire post was toxic and disgusting, the fact this is becoming common place in thinking is why i don't actively try to date, it may be self defeating but i may compliment a woman and be genuine but there goes my job.

Girls. Ok. Please just be yourself. You don't need to broadcast how you are to the world to be noticed by anyone. Just be who you are and those who have the privilege of being around you will see it and appreciate you for you. Forget those who can't appreciate you, and enjoy those who can. But no one needs this kind of social media post to be noticed by anyone.
