The Pure Joy Of Finding Cookies In These Tins Is Indescribable
I resemble that remark! I have one full of buttons.
Load More Replies...As a Dane I'm childishly proud of being from the same country as these biscuits!
Do Danish grannies also repurpose them as a sewing supplies tin?
Load More Replies...The one time I actually needed a sewing kit, this was filled with cookies.
Yesterday I saw a girl knitting on the train, and she had a biscuit tin to keep her supply!
Always surfaced here just before Christmas and snaffled for half price after it
I keep my sewing supplies in an Altoids tin. Needless to say I don't sew much.
Me: "Gran, where's the sewing kit?" Gran: "In the biscuit tin" Me: "Where's the biscuits?" Gran: "In the sewing box. Stupid boy" True story
As a kid, the most important things were usually the lunch menu and planning sleepovers with your best friend. But if you were a '90s kid, you had an extra dose of awesome. You grew up with incredible movies and TV shows like The Lion King, Full House, and Rugrats. Plus, you had some seriously cool and weird toys that were all the rage.

Hands Down One Of The Best Days Of School - The Scholastic Book Fair!
I once bought one of those nail art stickers book from the scholastic book fair for around 100 rupees and my mother was not happy with my choice of purchase😅😅
Fr! My dad would give me two bucks and tell me that I could find something…sometimes five bucks. I could never buy a book, maybe a keychain. A friend gave me money once and I got a diary book with a lock for like $5-$6. Idk how it was so cheap lol
Load More Replies...When I was a kid in the 80s this was an after school thing your parents had to bring you in for so kids didn't get distracted by it. My mom was not a fan, especially since we had a perfectly good book store next to the grocery store.
I remember being so exited for this and then I forgot my 10 dollars :O
Back then, there was no social media or super-fast internet, making the '90s the last era of pure innocence. With all the fantastic pop culture and good vibes, it's tough to argue that it wasn't the best time to be a kid. If you need convincing, here are some reasons to change your mind. And if you already agree, get ready for a nostalgia trip!
You Know You Were Going To Have A Good Time When This Bad Boy Rolled Into Class
Teacher rolled one of these beasts into our class to hear president Reagan give a speech. It was the day he got shot. We were horrified. First graders watching that live
Harsh. We watched the Challenger Space Shuttle launch in 7th grade.
Load More Replies...When I was in grade school and high school, it was a movie projector. That happened only a couple of time a year. You always hoped the film wouldn't get caught and stop because the light would melt the film. It was interesting to watch the film melt, but that was the end of the movie.
Ah, we're both old. I remember the projectors, too.
Load More Replies...A VCR and a laserdisc player? Must have been nice. We only had VCRs carts in my school, at least until DVD players became affordable. Fun fact for those too young or too old to remember this: Laserdisc were briefly popular in schools at one point because of the trick-play features it had that were not possible on VHS. Perfect still frames, chapters and higher video resolution made laserdiscs perfect for educational content at the time. DVD pretty quickly took over that functionality once it became affordable through.
Wow, This Really Hit The Nail On The Head For Me
Well, coming home from work. this is still the way to tell if I'm gonna have a peaceful afternoon or maybe not so much ...
My Mom used to count bikes and skateboards, so when she got home from work it would give her a rough idea on how many kids were in our house. She would also add 3-4 extra for the kids that she knew that had walked to the house.
y'all must have lived in a nice neighborhood in the suburbs. I would've had my bike jacked if I left it out like that... even got it jacked when I was on it once 😭
When you were…. On it…? Please explain how tf that happens 😶
Load More Replies...I miss those days. Even when I hardly knew any of the kids in the neighborhood, it wouldn't be long before I'd be meeting up with other kids out riding their bikes or doing whatever outside.
i was really friendly with the neighbors, when i was about 7 i used to ride past all the houses and just wave hi to everyone lol
Today's kids would probably have to Google "bicycle" on their phones to find out what one is.....
They may have to google "how the hell did anyone afford a bike in the past", but their continued presence in all major retail locations that sell such things, in thinking they're probably good. You, though. You should talk to someone about that chip on your shoulder before it wrecks your spinal alignment.

The '90s marked a special Disney era known as the Disney Renaissance, starting with The Little Mermaid in 1989 and ending with Tarzan in 1999. During those years, Disney treated us to fantastic animated musicals like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, and Mulan.

We All Made The Best Pieces Of Art With This Beaut
I needed to crop a picture on a pc that basically has nothing installed. Normally I would do that in a fancy image treatment program, but as I did not have that, it was good ol' paint for the rescue. Haven't even opened it for years, but surely it was still there as a basic part of windows.
I still use paint to crop pics or resize every once in a while. Am I the only one?
Nope. Use it all the time when I don't need PhotoShop.
Load More Replies...Ah yes, back when you didn't need a degree in computer science or graphic design to figure out how to make a mother's day card for your mom. Good times.
You need to check out an artist called Jim - he makes parody art using Microsoft paint exclusively. He has an immense talent and his work’s hilarious!
Yeah, "Jim". That's very helpful since everybody knows there's only one "Jim".
Load More Replies...Looking Back, The Designs On Vhs Packaging Was Actually Pretty Awesome
What's really cool about these designs is that for most of the 80s and 90s they weren't computer generated. Those sick gradients were done with a manual airbrush. I found a 1993 book in the library once that showed you exactly how to do it
Good point! Had a design teacher who was an air brush legend! Such a cool lost art!

I just bought a VCR at Value Village so I can play my copies of Babe and Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. on it, and when I hooked it up to the living room TV my 33(!!) year old stepdaughter had this pitying, internally-shakes-her-head look on her face.
Haha this children was dvr we had .i still have my video recording of my childhood shows!
But wait, there's more to add to your nostalgia trip! Disney also gifted us with some amazing non-musical movies in the '90s, including The Mighty Ducks, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Cool Runnings, Hocus Pocus, A Goofy Movie, James and the Giant Peach, and The Parent Trap. As if that wasn't enough, the '90s also marked the beginning of Disney's incredible collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, bringing us Toy Story and A Bug's Life.
This Was The Worst!
After a software crashes, a crash dump file is sent to Microsoft which contains stack trace, list of threads etc information which can be used for debugging. These errors reports are submitted to a central database run by Microsoft which third-party developers can access. If issue is related with Microsoft products, Microsoft pushes the fix to affected users via Windows Update.

There Was A Time Where Kit Kat’s Had Foil Packaging. I’d Run My Finger Through Each Gap Just Like What They Did In The Commercials
I was on holiday in Nepal a few years ago, and bought a Kit Kat with foil on it. Have not been used in South Africa for a few decades.
I liked pretending I was Charlie Bucket and checking for my golden ticket
I miss cereal foil. Kept the cereal fresher than the plastic. It was easier to open too.
In the '90s, many popular shoes were designed for a younger crowd, like jelly shoes, light-up sneakers, platform sandals, Floaties, and Heelys, just to mention a few. While most of these styles might seem a bit outlandish today, back then, your shoes turned school hallways into fashion runways.
To Me, This Is The Og Mcdonalds Packaging. They Need To Bring This Back!

You Know If It Got Serious In The Classroom Whenever They Brought Out The Overhead Projector
Oh my. Algebra problems! Is what I think when this d thing got wheeled out!
When I was a kid in the 80s this was the "good overhead" all of the teachers wanted to use, instead of the old brown rusty ones.
I had a math teacher in junior high who never got the hang of these things.
Has a teacher, had a lens from an overhead projector in back of my jeep Cherokee that needed to be cleaned so I was taking it home. Later that afternoon a student informed me my jeep was on fire! Turns out the lens acted as a magnifying glass and the sun started burning a hole through a blanket I keeper in the back of my jeep! Thank goodness students liked me.
Load More Replies...No pain can compare to having to walk infront of the overhead back to your desk and becoming temporarily blinded by the light of a 1000 suns
Pop music had a blast in the late '90s and early 2000s, thanks to an avalanche of boy bands and girl groups who caused utter chaos with their good looks and catchy songs. Were most of them carefully put together to make you swoon? You bet. And did it work like a charm? Absolutely! Their songs stood the test of time, their dance moves were flawless, and their fashion choices became iconic.

I First Got My Polly Pocket When I Was 8 Years Old And I Loved Playing With It Every Single Day
There is a hotel in Dallas that may still have mine 26 years later. I never found it after that trip.
I hate that they made Polly bigger now but it was definitely warranted as I 100% swallowed a Polly Pocket as a child
As a parent with two girls, stepping on Polly Pocket pieces was almost worse than LEGO!
Load More Replies...I recently went through my garage and found all my original polly pockets. Pulled at my heart strings when I remembered my mom would get me one every time I was a good little girl at the doctors office when I got my blood drawn.
It wasn't just groups like *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, and Destiny's Child that adorned your bedroom walls—the '90s also introduced us to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

It was the worst feeling , until you unstucked it and got ready to wind it. That was the purest asmr ever. Feeling the little bars with the pen, getting the right levrage and start twurling. I loved it, and was hardly ever annoyed at it. I was annoyed by people ripping the case out or using force. That was annoying. Ripping the tape was annoying. Doing what is pictured was the best ❤️

I worked the kids' section of a Borders bookstore in the 90s, and I *hated* these freaking things!
My parents kept these! My step nieces and nephew use them, and the books still work :)
Wow! We had some new ones, circa 2018. Battery only lasted about 1 year.
Load More Replies...When I was about 8, I had a book called The Little Golden Book of Horses. I recently found that book as a miniature (less than an inch high and with the same cover), so I bought it and it will go into my dollhouse when I finish it. The house, not the book. LOL
I still have this exact one and also a Rocky Horror picture show one
In the '90s, if you rocked bright colors and loud patterns, you were totally on point. But if you were a kid or preteen sporting Limited Too or dELiA*s fashion, you were a certified fashion guru. It always felt like these stores had the inside scoop, leading the way with trends like the tee-under-the-tank combo and those nifty convertible pants that could magically become capris or shorts.
Please Tell Me I Wasn’t The Only One Using These Crayola Stamp Markers On My Hands To Make “Tattoos”? Anyone?
They would be quite elaborate, until my mother accused me of wanting to be a criminal because of my cool hand and palm "tattoos" 😂
Wow, what a blast from the past! Most items on these lists are just recycled from other lists. This is one that I legit haven't seen since I was a kid! Very cool!
The smelly good markers were the best. And smelled legit Like nostalgia.
I thought these were the scented markers for a second. I remember huffing those.
Huge Shoutout To Microsoft Encarta For Helping Us All With Our Assignments
I learnt soooo much from this as a kid. Before the internet proper, and brimming with videos and audio clips. I got lost for hours in this. Now, kids learn from social media - hence the degradation of the human intellect over the last ten years.
Humans have always been stupid, the flip side being that there have always been smart people.

Let’s Face It, All Of Us Went Fishing For The First Time Because Of This Toy. Am I Right?
Those stupid fish would bite and let go before you could even catch them.
Champion also dished out some seriously cool athletic wear back in the day, and Tommy Hilfiger jeans were all the rage. And if you just wanted to blend in, there were plenty of windbreakers and baggy jeans to go around.

Movies On Vhs! Which One Would You Watch From This Collection?
My parents bought The Lion King as soon as it came out on VHS and put it on top of the tv, saying it wasn't ours but a birthday present for someone. I carefully unfolded the cellophane so it didn't rip and cut the security sticker right in the middle and would watch chunks of it every morning before school. Turns out it was for us and the parents were just a-holes.

It's Not The 90s Without Having At Least One Nokia Phone To Be In Your Life. Which One Did You Have?⠀
Definitely 21st century models. I still have 2 and 8 though. No, I’m not a hoarder, *you* are!
It seems like this were aughts models...I had a brick phone in the 90s. Got my first one in 1993.
None. My first phone was a Motorola equivalent. It lit up orange instead of the Nokia green!
I still exclusively buy Motorola. Have since the early 2000's. Never had issues.
Load More Replies...My first cell phone was a hand me down car bag phone in 1998. It was mostly useless because even the cities around me barely had cell service at the time.
The only time I ever had a Nokia phone was when I briefly had a Nokia N95 for a few months before I got an iPhone.
Before the era of one-click streaming, family movie nights required some serious planning. You'd hop into your mom's minivan, head to Blockbuster, and wander through the aisles until something caught your eye. But renting a movie back then wasn't a chore—it was an adventure. For many, a visit to Blockbuster was a treat, and the excitement of discovering if they had your desired movie was a thrill. And if they didn't, choosing an alternative meant taking a chance based on a plot description rather than watching a trailer.

It was - and still is - a bad idea, as it really doesn't help at all, and the moisture would eventually corrode the connections. The launch problem were mostly due to the card moving a little bit in the casing, and thus causing alignement problems with the reader.
Pin corrosion also caused connectivity problems, so blowing into the slot was actually making the problem worse in the long run. Usually just taking the cartridge out and reinserting it fixed the issue.

Remember Realplayer? I Played All My Audio, Video And Any .rm Files On This Thing! It Was My Number One Software Back In The Day
And you could download skins to make it prettier, too!
Load More Replies...the only real shuffle i know, now, it's always the sames songs selected :/
RealPlayer was Spyware. It was also full of ads. They also sued anyone who created codecs to play RM files in other media players. tldr; RealPlayer was really scuzzy. It was the kind of software your parents would install on their PCs, you would explain to them why it's bad and uninstall it for them, and a week later they would re-install it.
Real Player was cool because it could download videos. It had a cool little button that would pop up above the video if you hovered over it. I used it long after it was "cool" for this reason. Downloaded so many videos!

Yes still used and it´s metric. The small cube ar 1cm by 1cm by 1cm (or 1cm³ or 1g) and the big is 10 by 10 by 10 or 1dm³ = 1liter = 1kg

Does Anyone Remember Sky Dancers? You’d Pull The String And The Dancers Would Fly In The Air And Hopefully You Don’t Get Hit By It? Did You Own One?
We had them but they ended up getting taken because they had a nasty habit of flying straight into ornaments, televisions, family pets, eyes etc and causing damage.

Remember The Balancing Bird Toy? I Never Actually Had One Of These But I Did Play Them In The Toy Store Whenever I Got The Chance. Did You Have One As A Kid?
I had one! One of the first fidget devices I can remember. Obviously it wasn't bought for the purpose since I got diagnosed with audhd at 33, but that's how I used it. the weight was perfect and I liked the slight discomfort from the beak against my finger, it kept me grounded to reality. Mine was in proper eagle colours but with a few blue feathers in the wings. I loved it so much. Sadly, after I'd dropped it several times, it split at the seem and had to be retired.

I remember number four from the Babysitter Club series, Jackie Rodowsky, but what show is that from?
A lot of these are from the 80's. It's like they kept all the same pictures and only updated the title.
I remember all this stuff but we was hella poor so didn't have any of it. Obviously the ones from school I experienced. Good times huh?
Good stuff! Some of the best are applicable to growing up in the 70s, 80s or 90s. I graduated from High School in '86. Bikes were def a good way to figure out where the gang was! Doubt many 90s kids used cassette tapes. Conversely, having a CD file was very unlikely before the 90s.
*opens BP* let's see, is there anything fun on here toda- OH NOSTALGIC 90s PICS :-D
I know some of these are pre 90's but surely that shows things back then were more durable than a lot of the stuff these days.
Most of these didn't go out of style/production; you just grew up!
