My brother put off marrying his wife for several years because she had cancer and if they got married, it would be a pre-existing condition on his insurance and her treatment would no longer be covered.

My husband and I purposely got jobs that were contract work/fee-for-service/self employed so that we would qualify for medical assistance since we did not work for companies that had the employee options for health insurance. So basically, I get 90% better coverage if I don't work. That is messed up.

I retired but returned to working full time, health care being one of many reasons. So‐-Insurance, Medicare, Seco dary health plan. Broke a leg bone, surgery, therapy. I am now looking for job 3 so I don't lose my home.

My partner and I have decided not to get married for that very reason. The marriage penalty is real.

I don't know the nationality laws in the UK but do your child a solid get him/her a citizenship there by all means this is getting out of hand
