Woman Catches Her Cat Returning From Neighbor’s Property With Stolen Goods

Stealing is not cool. Unless it’s done by your cat, in which case it’s perfectly normal. We all know that cats like to steal stuff, especially food, from time to time – like that chicken wing you naively left on the dinner table or that shrimp from the wok pan you were saving for later. But while these trixy thieves like to take they also like to give gifts to their owners as well. Max, a cat from New Zealand took his gift giving skills to a whole other level. Instead of bringing his owner mice or birds, this little rascal likes to bring her news.

This is Max – a cat from New Zealand, who likes to steal newspapers from neighbors for his own entertainment

Max is a 10-year-old boy from Wainuiomata, New Zealand. “We got him from a pet shop that closed down, but the kittens were found in a boot so when we got him he was pretty much wild,” Jade Jefferies, the cat’s owner said. “I spent a good two weeks in my bedroom sitting with him, trying to get him used to people and stuff ’cause he was pretty much feral.”

One day, Max’s owner Jade Jefferies started receiving newspapers to her porch that she did not subscribe to

Max’s owner said that these papers had been delivered at least several times a week. However, Jade had no idea who mysterious paperboy might be.

The papers had little teeth marks on it, so, naturally, Max became the prime suspect

After noticing the marks, Jade started to suspect her cat Max.

“I’ve always had a feeling it was him,” Jade said

Such a cute (and proud) little thief. I hope the neighbors aren't too angry about it and forgive him and his humans

Ha! Max fetches the newspaper for his owner--except it isn't hers! That video of him proudly strutting over to the house with the newspaper in his mouth is hilarious.

I'm impressed he managed to get it over the fence in one try. My cat likes to 'steal' the paper, but only in the sense of apropriating to her use a newspaper, (or any other paper) already present. Then she sits on it, and it is hers, and you can't have it back. If you happen to need those papers, you have to create a decoy, and lure her off with the pretense of great interest in your decoy paper.

It always amazes me how accurate cats are when landing their jumps. This good boy was on point when he jumped up to the top of the fence!

People should not left their cats outside without anyone supervising. Too many cats have been run over by a car and also some cats like to go inside other people's homes. That can be a bad thing because the other people may be allergic to cats and if the cat pees or poops that is annoying to clean. I remember one child who was allergic to cats but still the neighbors let their cats pee inside that kid's playhouse and sandbox.

if cats bring mice thinking owner is bad at hunting, maybe Max thinks that his owner doesn't read enough?
